Very sensitive to my anxiety. Caring, available.
I've been seeing Dr. Ky for over one year. Seen TWO doctors before her and they didn't know what they were talking about. Dr. Ky is simply the best. Never waited over 10 minutes for appointments. She is always so thorough when I have any questions (I tend to ask a lot at each appointment). On the day of the procedure, she made me feel secure. I was in the best hands. She also has a great sense of humor in the weirdest of situations. She is great. Highly recommended
Dr Ky is very competent, able to answer any of my questions. Dr Ky is far more experienced then a doctor I was referred to on Staten Island. Office staff very good, congenial, they have a very efficient system for surgery consultation/screening; they have it down to a science. Dr Ky performed a screening procedure the day of the consultation which would have taken a couple of visits on Staten Island.
made me very comfortable, I was so embarrassed to see someone. Very competent, great staff, very available, relieved my discomfort
Easy to talk to. fixed my fecal incontinence problem. No one wants to talk about it but its a real problem if it happens to you! Thanks Dr Ky!
Dr Ky is amazing. She is caring and accessible. I had fecal incontinence - an embarassing condition but she not only helped fix my problem but also made me feel extremely confortable. also have early morning hours on some days- a big plus!
As much as anyone can ever be happy about having a colonoscopy or related procedure, you'll be happy with Dr. Ky. She's personally and professionally outstanding.
A month and half later and I am in agony after a Fissurectomy and Botox. Ky did not advise me to fast before surgery. Still woozy after, she handed me a Rx for Percocet. I told her it made me sick but she (too lazy to go write another one?) insisted it would be fine with some food and that, really, the pain could be handled with a glass of wine. So I spend the first night vomiting and in agony. She refused to call in a new Rx the following day. I should have been advised to take a week off of work but wasn't. The first bm almost made me pass out and subsequent BMs in a public bathroom (I'm an elementary school teacher) were horrific. I'm not exaggerating when I say I have scars from digging my nails into my arms to hold in the screams. I was in contact with her Nurse Practitioner throughout the first two weeks who told me to pour bottles of water down my crack in the public bathroom after each bm. When I returned for the follow up, Ky inspected me for less than a minute, declared that the Botox hadn't worked, I had three fissures now and, yes, one looked like it wouldn't heal. She asked me to try and have one bm daily (?!) and that I need a sphincterectomy. I just took my second sitz bath today (it's 11:30) and cried yet again in agony from the bleeding and the spasms. Don't go to this doctor. I regret the surgery. I had one fissure that was annoying - now I have three- one of which is terrifyingly deep. More blood in the bowl than I can handle.
It seems like most of the reviews here are complaining about fistula repair. I have the same issue with her. Now I am fistula free after a LIFT procedure by another doctor. I was told using the plug has a high chance of failure which I done and indeed a failure. I have to agree all the cons about here on reviews are true. After the failure procedure with a plug, she propose a very scary procedure that I needed go find a second opinion and this doctor said no need for such procedure. Lucky I am move onto another doctor and got my condition repaired.
Great staff great doc. I had pain and they got me in the same day. Took care of the problem the same day. Thank you doctor Ky!!
she made my appointment a lot less stressful than anticipated; my condition got better quickly and I am whole again!
Dr. Ky is a compassionate, energetic and smart physician. Her office is run smoothly and efficiently, and you can always count on speaking to someone if needed, without going through automated teleprompts and wait time. Dr. Ky has wonderful bedside manner and makes you feel completely at ease. She is extremely confident and knowledgeable. If you are looking for a good colorectal surgeon, look no further.
Love the office, Love Dr Ky- the downtown office has less of a wait than the uptown one since I've been to both.
She is great. Efficient and considerate for such a sensitive exam. Even answer question by emails after hours. Would totally send my friends and family. Very sensitive to the nature of the exam
Please find another dr if you are reading review about Dr. Ky. She should not be a dr. and I really think this woman entered the wrong field. I have never seen a dr who's always in rush, she is not caring at all! Very easy to notice her feet is always towards the door direction! Ridiculous! I'm regret I did not do enough research and review before going to her. My fistula problem still not fixed and I am suffering. All she told me was to wait 1/2 year to see if it heals itself! OMG, which dr would say that? bottom line is DO NOT GO TO HER! FIND A DR THAT'S PATIENT ENOUGH TO LISTEN TO PATIENT'S COMMENT BEFORE TALKING!
Dr Ky saved my life. I had been to so many doctors all wanting to do aggressive surgery but she saw another way that I could still live a regular life and be cured in the process! Thank you, thank you!
This person should have went into banking or some other money related business. Her only interest is money and being in the spotlight like her office or the hospital is some TV show. I am still suffering years later and getting treated for the fistula problem you mis diagnosed. I wish I could do to you what you did to me.
I choose Mt.Sinai due to its good name. What I found was a doctor who provided me with meager service.I am sure that I would have received better care at a free charity clinic.I am interested to know what she wrote in her chart because on a scale of 0 to 1000, where 0 = no exam and 1000 is a complete exam pertinent to my presentation, I will rate her as 0.0000001
The Dr is actually a "she". Regardless, great staff, caring doctor, made me feel at ease
This doctor diagnosed me with a fissure. She performed a fissure repair with Botox. I was told the recovery would not be difficult. This procedure made my pain significantly worse. On my first post operative visit, the doctor told me I tore a new fissure. She told me that I could remain as I was indefinitely as I was reluctant to go through the same painful process again so soon. She did tell me that the wound was too wet and I should keep it dry My second post operative went the same way. I should keep it dry and there was no urgency to ever deal with this. She told me the decision should be made based on my own judgement. The constant wetness and intense pain did not seem something that was healthy to live with. I sought a second opinion with a well recommended local doctor (Wishner, Mt. Kisco). He told me that the wetness was an infection. He also told me that in most cases, post op pain would quickly be lessthan pre op pain, which is contrary to what had happened to me. In any event, he repaired the infection and my relief was immediate. Two weeks later, I am 100%. Dr. Ky's initial procedure was unsuccessful. No one is perfect. What is shocking is her repeated post op misdiagnosis of my weeping infection. She spent very little time with me. There are other reviews with similar stories. I would not recommend this doctor.
When you first see this Dr. she appears very professional. After conversation, I went to be examined. She looked at me for approximately 10 seconds. This was disturbing and I mentioned this. her answer was she seen this hundreds of times. The problem was anal fistula and I was going for the Surgisis AFP plug, which she said I was a candidate for. Long story short, she performed some kind of "fissure" repair when there was no fissure. She did not even see me after this botched surgery. I had to go to another Dr. Just to find out what happened to me.
Dr Ky operated on my husband this summer who had a large tumor in his colon. It was a difficult surgery and Dr Ky made excellent decisions which attributed to the success of the surgery and recovery. I highly recommend her and the staff at Mount Sinai Hospital.
Dr. Ky has no interest in what you have to say about anything. She's all hopped up going at 100 miles an hour. She lies about your recovery time. When you call during recovery because you're in pain she won't talk to you, you can only speak with a nurse who just says "Everybody reacts differently". She is a sloppy prescriber. After my procedure in the office, I was terribly uncomfortable. She said right after the procedure I should stay there for a good half hour. I needed to. I was squirming in the waiting room - there is no recovery area - and after 10 minutes her nurses actually told me to leave! I said I couldn't because I might have to move my bowels. Then they told me to leave again! There's more, but let me just say that she stinks, and avoid her.
No problem with wait. The staff and front desk was pleasant and made the experience not bad despite my fear. I thought Dr Ky was pleasant and put me at ease. I was very comfortable with her. I had part of my intestine removed but you cannot even tell with my small scar. sounds superficial but I care what my belly looks like!
She operated on me for anal cancer and was able to remove only the tumor. When I went in for the surgery, I didn't know what I'd be waking up to, but I'm still alive and fully functioning. I'm one of the lucky ones, thanks to Dr. Ky.
Good for you. You have your own opinion of her, well so do I and she was a typical money hungry doctor that didn't care about me at all. Just as I thought, their staff didn't call me back after I wanted to get MY money back that SHE still OWES me. "We will call you back regarding your balance." They never called back. Besides that, my health problem was NEVER fixed by HER. Thanks Dr. Ky, you sure are a useless doctor, but a good business woman. A MONEY HUNGRY BUSINESS WOMAN.
I dont get what some of the comments are about! Just goes to show that anorectal is a personal thing! I had a great experience with her. She saved my life! I was going to a Chief of Colon and Rectal Surgeon for years who missed my anal cancer- thanks to her I am now cancer free. She is compansionate and took her time with me to answer all of my questions and was very reassuring the whole way through my very difficulty hourney. I send everyone I know to her and have no reservation about her treatment of me.
I never have to wait for dr ky. Love her, love her office, she takes my insurance unlike so many docs in the city.
It's about principles that I should get my money back. I told the doctor that I didn't want to use the insurance because I wanted to be discreet with my health problem from my mother when I was younger. I paid them 60 something dollars. It wasn't enough. I eventually told them to use the insurance to cover it. The lady in the office said I have store credit. I may visit the doctor again. So I didn't ask for money back. I did so much research regarding my health issue. I realize that she didn't give me the information I needed. She was double charged me for surgery. It was NO SURGERY. I did not GET any surgery. She just TOOK a biopsy of a skin and sent that to the lab. IS THAT SURGERY??? She did that ONCE and she claimed surgery money from the insurance twice. I realize I can't trust this doctor and I'm not going to visit her anymore. I was too embarassed to show up at the office because of my health issue. I left my "credit" there for over 4 years. Now I have the courage to stick to my principles after overcoming my health issue and attempt to get my money back. Now the office is playing games with me. Call this place, that place this place. Hold on... We will call you back. It's been 2 hours. Not only are they very mean and giving me attitude, they are playing games and making me wait and hopefully I will give up. There's no doubt in my mind that the DOCTOR ALEX JENNY KY was instructing them to TOY with me. I do recall hearing her instructing her staffs to make patients run around in circles for their benefit.
Thanks to her... I came so close to getting cancer. She didn't care... SHE put it in the insurance saying I had surgery twice. For goodness sakes... She only took some of my skin for a lab test... THAT IS NOT SURGERY... she robbed me of $3500. I didn't know any better when this happened. I was only 18 and so scared of my condition. She is a monster. She didn't care about me. She just wanted all my friggin money.
No one likes to have their butt looked at but she made it so easy that I dont mind. Small finger helps too! The only doctor who answers her emails and is always accessible!
The wait is variable. She operates on some days so the wait can be longer but usually, there is practicially no wait. Since she is available everyday- I would make an appointment on a day that she does not have surgeries since that is unpredictable. However, the staff is superb and I didnt mind the wait when it occurs
I came to her with a perennial fistula. She did two surgeries and both went out wrong. Avoid her.
This doctor has ruined my life during two procedures rendering me partially incontenent. Her reports contained falsehoods, fabrications or recoreds of other patients with my name on. She moves far too fast, does not spend time with you, and does not explain the possible negative consequances of the procedure. Rather she her statements are meant to give you confidence.
Made herself very available to me. Have availability everyday. Even came in at 7am because of my work schedule. I am especially happy that she is reachable by email.
Terrible manners. Don't know how to treat patients. ONLY want money. Impatient person. Ignorant. Terrible surgeon. Cause me pain for weeks. DON'T RECOMMEND HER. DON'T GO TO THIS DOCTOR.
She has office hours everyday! This makes seeing her very convenient. She also answer via email which is fantastic since when Im worried, I want access to my docotr! The staff is great
very compasionate. Good sense of humor regarding a sensitive topic. Very available when I contact her
This Dr., after examination and consulation, performed the wrong opertaion on me which left me in severe pain for weeks. Comes across as confident but it's a front. The positive review on here was probably written by her or one of her staff.Avoid this person!!!
I had an anal absess that turned into a fistula. I was interested something called the Surgisis AFP (Anal Fistula Plug)a collagen plug that could be inserted in a fistula. A much better option then getting a fistulotamy. Alex Ky came up on Cook Medicals list of Dr.s who use this product, so I called her. In the visit, she gave me a quick exam. We taked and she said the plug will work for me. I made an appointment to have the procedure. We talked indepth about what would happen. On the day of the procedure, we talked again. I awoke in the recovery room and discovered that I had something done to me other then what we talked about. It turns out she did a fissure repair on me. I did not have a fissure. It had nothing to do with the fistula, or the plug, or anything we talked about. I could not get a straight answer out of her. She blew the whole thing off. SHe didn't care about any legal action because she knows how hard it is to sue a Dr. for malpractice in this kind of situation. DO NOT DANGER YOUR HEALTH BY SEEING THIS DANGEROUS PERSON. I'm suffereing years later from what she did to me and the original problem that I went to see for.
