It is unfortunate that Utah does not have more pediatric physiatrists. I would take my daughter to a different one if that were an option. First of all- getting an appointment with her is absolutely ridiculous. Her office refuses to make an appointment with you in person. You have to call in to get one and hope they will get back to you. And even if you do manage to get through to them, you will likely be denied getting an appointment because you will be told they need to get prior authorization, even if they actually already have it. Every single time we have called to get an appointment, we have been given the excuse that they don't have the prior authorization they need and maybe if I call my insurance, it will help to speed things along. I call my insurance- I am told they have already given permission or they haven't gotten a request. EVERY TIME FOR THE PAST EIGHTEEN MONTHS. Our daughter is supposed to be getting these treatments every three months- ever since we started taking… her to Dr. Oki, she's been getting them on average every five to six months, because her staff is very good at saying, "We'll call you back in a week." And then we end up calling them when they don't. And by then, since she is the only physiatrist available for Northern Utah, she is completely booked, and we end up having to settle for an appointment that is two months past when our daughter needs to see her. When we finally do get her in, Dr. Oki constantly tries to pressure us to have our daughter get sedated for the injections. Our daughter has been getting these injections for five years now. Yes, they are painful. Yes, she cries. Yes, it breaks my heart to see her cry. But as soon as the injections are over, she is done crying. She cries about the same amount she cries when we get her immunizations. Should I start sedating her for those as well? It just feels like she is trying to milk us for as much money as she can get. We are required to make it to the appointment twenty minutes in advance, which we always do. You would think that would mean we would get in to see her at the appointed time- but no. We usually sit out in the waiting area for a good forty minutes to an hour. Which is another reason we don't ever opt for sedation. We do not live in Salt Lake and have to travel some distance to see her. We end up spending an hour for a procedure that takes five minutes- I do not want to know how long we would have to be there if we started sedating our daughter. She doesn't listen to concerns- she comes in, does the procedure, asks if you have any questions and concerns, and when you express any, she just looks through you and doesn't even address anything you have to say at all. Don't like her one bit. Find her to be very uncaring, unable to understand, unable to be cooperative with patients and their family dynamics, and very difficult to work with.

Dr. Oki gets paid a lot of extra money by Primary Childrens to do a lot of botox injections because the hospital makes a lot of money on the injections.
