Patient Reviews ? Write a Review
I have been suffering from severe depression and unable to find a doctor to help me. While my initial appointment was 90 days away from my initial call, with daily phone calls inquiring about " cancellations" I was successful in seeing Dr Gergely about 60 days earlier. My experience with him, while of course painful for me, was excellent !!!! He is very understanding and compassionate . Before my appointment, I had read negative reviews about Dr. Gergely. Let me tell you, those reviews are completely in accurate ! I had to drive 75 miles to see him, but I would make that drive every week without hesitation to seek this Drs help. He is AWESOME!!!! Don't believe those negative reviews PLEASE! This guy is one of the best.
Dr. Gergely appears to be professional, unfortunately one of his office receptionist staff (woman with long blond hair) is very rude. I ask a question in reference to billing and also asked her to mail me a record of what has been billed; she did not directly answer my question. I then rephrased the question to simplify things for her and that's when she became rude. She reminded me on how she s having to repeat herself, where she should have just listened to me in the first place. She raised her voice, so I raised mine. I felt as if billing was a secret, it should not be! I would not recommend this office to anyone. If you are stressed and seeking medical help, the staff here will only make things worst, stay away.
First, Dr. Gergely dispenses the meds. I already knew what worked for me, so that was a quick appointment. Some billing and scheduling problems to start, but eventually worked out. I wasn't so sure about my therapist in the beginning, but now that she has gotten to know me, have been very happy with her. She has always been attentive, caring, offers suggestions. Even though she is half my age, she has the ability to suggest things that my friends, family and even myself have not thought about. She has even worked me in between appointments. It is not easy to find the therapist that is a right fit. Maybe why so many were not happy here? It's not a one stop fix it place. Therapy and medication take time, effort and work, and mostly on the part of the patient. I definitely would recommend this practice, but again, what works for one individual may not work for another.
Called to schedule an appointment as a new patient. They require you to pay a deposit before you can even schedule an appointment.
Love, love, love this practice. Especially Patty. She is spot on in diagnosing what is wrong and is extremely caring. She wants to see her patients smiling and happy! I'm always smiling and in the best mood after our visit. The office staff are always great as well. I highly recommend this office and staff. That office is just flowing with fun and positive energies!
I saw Dr. Kane. She is absolutely unprofessional. She plays on her personal phone during the 2 minutes when she asks my how I am. I have had a difficult time trying to find the right combination of medications and she has no interest in exploring different options with me. "Here's your Prozac and I'll see you in a month." She doesn't even make eye contact during these "appointments".
Dr Gergely is unprofessional, does not return important calls , Doesn't have a emergency # I liked him @ first but don't like him as a Dr i don't recommend him
Had an appointment scheduled for two weeks, called the morning of because of a snow storm and was told everything was on schedule. When I got to the office 15 minutes early,I was told that my appointment was canceled by by someone who was not in the office at that time. This was supposed to be my first appointment. wow
I have found Dr. Gergely both caring & professional to my family both in times of terrible tragedy and during routine need. Dr. Gergely is a busy ma but he is there when you need him, as is his staff.
I haven't seen Dr. Gergerly himself but see Dr. Patricia Kane. She spends no time during the visits, just writes notes the whole time and asks the same questions (how are you? how's the medication working? have you been sleeping okay) and then write's a new perscription and that is it. I am in her office for a max of 10 mins and she is writing the whole time. When there was a mix up with an appointment time, they were completely unreasonable despite the honest mistake and charged me a $50 fee. They also charged me a ridiculous fee ($30 ) to get a faxed copy of my medical records. This office practice is all about getting as much money out of you as they can and care nothing about providing good customer service and patient care.
Dr. Gergley has been my psychiatrist for over a year now. He is not a therapist. Therefore his occupation is not to council as much as it is to accurately assess the psychological issue and prescribe medication appropriately. Psychologists and therapists do more of the therapy. I know there are several therapists in the office. He offered therapist services to me but I felt the medication would suffice. So far it has. He is a very careful and thoughful psychiatrist who is always careful about what to say and ask. I believe he cares about his patients wellbeing and is up to date with medication change issues. I was prescribed a medication that was later found to cause medical issues when taken at higher doses. I was not taking the amount that caused issues but was close to that amount. He was careful to provide me with the new found information, provided a cautionary warning and assessed my levels of medication for safety and effectiveness to battle the depression. I am very happy to have Dr. Gergley as my Psychiatrist.
Despite the crowded waiting area sometimes; the office staff has always been friendly and professional. The doctor is professional and a good listener. My therapist is patient and has a lot of useful tools to help with my "issues".
wow I thought it was just me. It seems like all he does is right a script.Doesnt ask any real helpfull questions to help diagnose just listens or sits there.Has only decreased my depression a little.hard to find a doctor dont know what to do.
For the first 3 years of being w/ this practice I was satified w/ the service. Until I wanted to see another therapist along w/ Dr. Gergely. I saw a few therapist and was satisfied but, still wanted to continue my search based on specific mental health issues I was dealing with. The last therapist was so rude to me for being late. However, I did call and let them know that I was going to be 15 minutes late. Granted, I was over 20 minutes late, I understood their policy, and paid the missed appointment fee up front (due to the fact that I was denied the session for being late). The bad part is that the receptionist tried to ask the therapist if she would make exception and see me anyway. This therapist had a big ego and gestured a shewing motion w/ her hand; shaking her head and; "said no you are too late." I mentioned that I did call in for being 15 minutes late and in a arrogant, egotistical manner she said, "no if you can't be on time for the 1st appointment I cant accept you as a patient." Eventhough I was wrong for being late I still beleive this therapist could have treated me with more dignity. Very unprofessional therapist.
Sadly, this is one of the few practices that takes my insurance otherwise I would be out of here. The therapists are horrible. Mine is NEVER on time, switches my appointment time and time again and then charges ME if I dont make it on time. Won't help if I run out of medicine before an appointment. Therapy is horrible. Advised me that its ok to drink and take recreational drugs with my antidepressants as long as it makes me feel good. Seriously? Are they for real? I might as well get antidepressants from an internet doctor.
he won't help you if you run out of medicine to tie you over until you can get an appointment. He loves to charge for extras - money, money, money. Not there for you as a person at all. Dont go, find someone compassionate
There is a single kind office staff member at their Edgewater office but everyone else has been anywhere from indifferent to unhelpful. As far as Dr. Gergely goes, he is totally unapproachable in his bedside manner. He rarely replies with anything constructive and mostly sits there without displaying any kind of feeling or personality. We are changing doctors for my son for these reasons, and I just had a huge issue with the staff over the fact that we have run out of his medicine before seeing his new doctor in a few days. Additionally, Dr. Gergely is being uncooperative and is insisting on charging a $25 fee for a 3-day prescription. I would avoid this doctor like the plague.
It was a terrible 2-year experience that was very costly to our lives, emotionally, physically and financially. Gergely's inattention to my husband's care has significantly altered our lives. Multiple medications were prescribed,in high dosages for conditions that were non-existant. One year post-Gergely, and we are still battling the damage.
Dr. Gergely is the doc for you if you want to stack multiple medications, enjoy profuse sweating, look forward to losing memory; desire negative perso ...
Treating a child of mine for two years, getting no where. As parents we have had to suggest med changes. Every visit is a deja vu of the previous one 6 weeks earlier. Time to move on...actually, past time!
The receptionists are great. That's where the good 'rating' ends.Dr. Gergely is the worst doctor I have ever seen. He is not compassionate at all. He doesn't care about you.
I have been seeing Dr. Gergely for several years now. No problem getting an appointment, even when I had to come in between visits due to a problem. His staff worked me in. I see him every few months since I have a long history of depression and am more comfortable with a psychiatrist monitoring my medications and status. I am very pleased with his care.
He is not flexible at all. If you need to change an appt. good luck. He will not help you if you run out of medicine while waiting for an appointment. You can bearly even get an appointment and when you do he is not interested in you at all. You are at his mercy because of protocal. He isn't compassionate or helpful.
I took my son to see Dr. Gergley, whom just prescribed medication (which my son wouldn't take) and said to follow up. When we went to make the appointment, he said we would see one of his Associates. SHE was a complete LOON herself!!!! I will never subject myself or my family to such craziness again!
My brief period with Dr. Gergely was too long. He was the psychiatrist that I saw and diagnosed me in the hospital, so I thought I had to go to follow up with him when I left. Considering my state during a week of day treatment, I wish I would have been told otherwise. Only after I found another psychiatrist did I realize that he was putting a band aid on my problem and not diagnosis my true problems. From him I was prescribed sleep medications that were not making a difference in my everyday functions or even sleeping. Only after a sleep study with my new doctor, I was diagnosed with a sleep disorder as well the already major depression and anxiety disorder. In the end I had other disorders that I was diagnosed with as well. When all my problems where addressed I was put on the path to recovery. This is sharp contrast the feeling like a zombie with the treatment prescribed by Dr. Gergely.
I waited a month to get an appointment this this Dr. only to find out he had the changed the scheduled time just a few days before our meeting. Then, when I did finally get in, I found it was a half hour intake, and he was ready to leave the office. He could not have shown less care. Also, I discovered I'd be handed off to one of his "Associates" for therapy, and I was told the office would call in a couple days to schedule that first appointment. Guess what? It's been a week and a day and no call.I'm definitely not going back to this practice. Rotten.
This is the worst doctor I have ever been to, especially being a psychiatrist. He kept cutting me off when I was speaking- how can a doctor ascertain your condition by doing that? Kept reiterating "I'm stingy on valium".. like he was insinuating I was some sort of junkie, and I have a VALID problem. I was highly offended, I am a Federal employee and I am simply seeking help. Furthermore, he REFUSED to fill out a certification form that stated I was under his treatment. I am also a night worker, and when I asked for a note for work (since the appointment was in the middle of the day- even though I work at night I DO have to sleep sometime) he said "why can't you go to work?" I would love to see how he would react if he had to have an appointment at 2:30 a.m. in ill condition and have to be back at work at 8 a.m., and someone saying- "Why can't you go to work?". Not only the time, but I was a complete mess because I had a relapse and anxiety attack and he could see that! I arrived crying. Completely insensitive, unprofessional, and offensive. I will be filing a complaint with the Maryland State Board of Medicine and DEFINITELY not returning to HIM!
