I was referred to Dr. Konen by my neurologist after a solid month of migraines. I told the neurologist we needed to do something diagnostic to see if we were missing something or treating the wrong problem. "What if I just needed antibiotics for a sinus infection?" He said, "ok, we can do an MRI." I made sure the film went to Dr. Konen as well. The neuro then reported I had had a small stroke, start baby aspirin, but it was not causing the headaches. I told Dr. Konen I had had a small stroke, and he told me, "yeah, and you have a chronic sinus infection and you need to see an ENT." He gave me a referral, I got antibiotics, sinus surgery and my septum straightened. I could give many more examples of how Dr. Konen treated me as a whole person and helped me get appropriate treatment. My oncology team had no idea why I was having screaming pain post radiation. Dr. Konen knew exactly what it was and how to treat it, and had even warned me ahead of time to look out for it. (I forgot for a while.) I have many medical problems and several (7 ) doctors, and Dr. Konen is my MVP.
Dr Konan has done spinal injections on me for years,,,,,,,,,,,I have always received benefit from the injections ............ Dr. Konan and his staff have always treated me with kindness and professionalism
I have been a migraine patient for several years and Dr Konen has tried numerous procedures to help me get relief from the pain. When one thing doesn't work he moves on to something else and does not give up on trying to find your path to a pain free life.
Great Dr, Great Bedside manner, Very Sharp...Knows his stuff, but takes care to ensure your safety & wellbeing.
Have been very pleased with Dr. Konen's treatment of chronic back issues. Excellent bedside manner.
Very good doctor Does excellent surgical procedures on my back once a year on my spine that keeps my pain manageable.
I was a patient of Dr. Konens from the beginning and saw him for 12 years from the time that he was located in front of Mary Shiels hospital...He was a very good doctor,,, BUT his office staff and his P.A.s will LIE to him in regards to what is going on with his patients....The MAIN problem with DR. Konen ,,, is that HE should listen to his LONG TERM patients and have TRUST and FAITH in them instead of listening to his useless staff,,, not all might I add...but for the most HIS office manager and P.A.s will LIE right to his face...The BOTTOM LINE with ME is this....I would HAVE NEVER STOPPED seeing a doctor that I had been seeing for 12 years by going to his P.A. and doing so...That is NOT how I treat DR, s who I put the health of my life in....Dr. Konen,, I am sorry that you NEVER gave me the OPPORTUNITY to HEAR my side of the story,,, after being a patient of yours for 12 years and you releasing me from your care......
Dr. Konen is a brilliant man who truly stands out amongst most doctors you see today. He is not only a very well educated and highly trained physician, he cares about helping solve his patient's problems. He doesn't just listen to what your issue is and treat your problem as if it were all written out of a book. He analyses and finds the real root of the problem. Dr. Konen is referred to by so many doctors around him because he is just that GOOD at helping the most in need, most difficult to diagnose, and over treated patients. He has to correct all the misdiagnosed patients who have a history of failed treatments preformed before him. He knows what he is doing and those who say different are only bitter that they wanted him to over prescribe or had to be discharged because they couldn't follow the rules. It was a difficult battle but he re-diagnosed me then took me through the phases of cleaning up the work I had done by other doctors and then helped me month after month to treat my pain. My pain was dibilitating at one time and has finally been stabilized. Year after year...doctor after doctor...I can finally live again.
ve ð Dr. Konen. He is very courtwous and he does excellent procedures.
Sherlock, as we call him, has been amazing with helping me with my migraine problems.
Dr. Konen is absolutely the best pain management doctor in all of Dallas. He is "cutting edge" and very nice person to boot. Can't ask for more than that in an m.d. His staff, however, is awful. It took us more than 45 minutes on hold just to make an appointment.
I was referred to Dr Konen for pain management. He is extremely knowledgable compassionate caring. His assistant, Stephanie, is pretty worthless. No matter what you call for, if having to go thru her, there's a 50/50 chance it will be taken care of. I've had the most ridiculous experiences with her. One of numerous examples would be when i left a msg with her at 8:30am on a wed to give to PA about a bad reaction to a med prescribed. There was no way to speak to anyone else. That afternoon, I made an appt for the next day. During my appt, my phone rang- it was stephanie. She wasn't calling to say she got my message and passed it to the dr, but just to say "i'm returning your call. You can reach me back at.." I then asked the PA during my appt if she got my msg and she had not. This is typical. When you're in pain, you can't afford to leave a message and it be a toss up if your med will be called in properly or at all, msg will be given to the dr or simply be told "you have to make an appt if you have any issues with a medication"- only to have no appointments available for weeks later. Still there are processes and for everything which takes days, so if there's any emergency, you're SOL. I actually had two refills in a row go thru without a hitch recently and not take a week and a half, so they are constantly changing. As I've heard, Konen is in constant battle with Baylor over the running of the clinic. Experiences with his procedures are the best though. Hope this helps people as patients and any admin viewers. I've tried to explain these things to Konen in person, but he doesn't seem to want to hear it. Its not because he doesn't care (I know he does), I think management of people and hearing complaints is not his forte.
I don't recommend Dr. Amanda Toye in Konen Pain Management Center to anyone. I could be receiving much better care from a different doctor. She and /or her nurse NEVER returned my calls. The amount of time that the person put me "on hold" 15 to 17 minutes in this office.
This quack could care less about his patients,,, but by what type of insurance they have,,, and if they pay with cash,, the better they like it at Konen and Associates...
Dr. Konen is hands down the best Medican Doctor I have ever been treated by. He is very knowledgable, but also takes the time to explain & listen to all your concerns. He was selected as one of D Magazine's Best Docs of 2011. I saw the review below about an unfortunate experience someone had with Dr.Amanda Toye, another physician who is a part of the "Konen & Associates" group. I have had appointments with Dr. Toye as well; from my experience, she is a wonderful physician who is passionate about takig care of patients as well. I have been treated by Dr. Konen for 2 years now. Honestly, Dr. Konen, his fellow physicians and nurse practioner, medical assistants, nurses, and support staff are wonderful professionals who are passionate about taking care of patients and helping them hae a better quality of life. If you need to recieve care from a pain management clinic - look no further. Dr. Konen, his fellow physicians & medical clinicians, nurses, medical assistants, and staff are the best of the best!
With Pain Management services changing and physicians becoming hard to find, I am compelled to write this review and thank Dr.Konen for being most professional and focused on solutions of healing. Dr.Konen's precise focus while considering patient individuality has given me- a current patient, opportunity to understand, plan, & move forward. I know my doctor's commitment to my progress equals my commitment to getting well. A rare find in doctors these days- Dr. Andrew Konen M.D. is a doctor who's knowledge has proven to surpass the averages set within his field. He consistently drives progress and achieves-especially where progress might have been deemed impossible. Thank you Dr.Konen for your commitment to identify beyond the obvious challenges, for working the root of my multi layered pain, & consistently developing a team of support specifically for my improvement.
I have been seeing Dr Konen for a couple of years and knows things about my disease that even my neurologists don't know! He takes the time to listen and truely cares about fixing the problem (or doing the best he can) Whenever I need someone to get to the point, I make an appt. with Dr Konen, because he is very frank and does not beat around the bush as so many Dr's do these days. Thanks Dr. Konen for caring for your patience as you do!
I was diagnosed with RSD/CRPS in 2006. My orthopedic surgeon referred me to a pain management specialist who told me that I had the most severe case of RSD that he had ever seen. He prescribed a narcotic pain medication to me and told me to take 1-2 pills every 4-6 hours. Due to my level of pain, I took 2 pills every 4 hours which was in the range that he had allowed. When I ran out and called him for a refill, he told me that I was abusing the medication and that if I didn't slow down, he would not see me anymore. He began treating me more like a drug addict than a chronic pain sufferer. Then, I found out I was pregnant. He told me that he didn't treat pregnant women then he referred me to UT Southwestern. The doctor there cut my dosage of hydrocodone down to 1 pill 3 times per day. I was so miserable that I was crying in my sleep. Due to my chronic daily migraines I got from pregnancy, UT Southwestern referred me to a neurologist who then told me I should try Dr. Konen for my RSD. it has been determined that the only type of pain more painful than RSD is the pain from the final stages terminal cancer. I went from having a pain level of a 9-10 on a scale of 1-10 to being practically pain free within 1 year. My husband told my best friend that he felt I had gone from some stranger curled up in bed crying all day every day to the woman that he fell in love with and married. My children have their mother back and I have my life back all because Dr. Konen cared enough to listen to me and treat me like I was his most important patient as opposed to being some junkie addict just looking for drugs. I have talked to several patients of Dr. Konen including ones he has had to release due to abusing meds and I have never heard anything other than praise and adoration for the wonderful doctor that he is.
Dr. Konen is a compassionate, gifted doctor. His lobby wait times on two occassions were lengthy for me, and he took the time to call me one day and explain the intricacies of each patient's needs that he has to treat (resulting in longer lobby waiting periods, occassionally). His treatments are effective and his expertise superb!
I found the staff to be in need of better manners and attitude toward the patient. Basically the front office staff was rude, especially on the telephone.
Excellent, creative Dr. but needs a more efficient office staff. Worth it anyway
Terrific doctor. Very up-to-date in current therapies, procedures, and medications. No patient goes without a thorough evaluation and follow-up. Continuously re-evaluating each patient's condition to see if new therapies are possible to help the patient. Very caring and sympathetic - will actually listen to the patient! Would recommend anyone with a problem with chronic pain to see this terrific doctor.
Dr. Konen came highly recommended by two practicing physicians, one of whom is his patient. His care was excellent, as was his bedside manner. If the problem recurs, I would not hesitate to return.
While Dr. Konen is a good doctor, his staff is horrible!! They are unfriendly and unsympathetic. When I was in obvious pain and phoned (several times) because the Rx made me sick, they were uncaring. Even after leaving several messages for Konen to phone me back to discuss my Rx with him, he never returned my phone call. When someone is in pain and trying to find relief, we shouldn't have to argue with the staff to get help. Although I do like Dr. Konen, I would NEVER go back to see him because it's just not worth the added grief his staff creates.
