DO NOT SEE MR. DURRANI. I BEG YOU TO FIND A REAL SPINE SURGEON AND NOT A MONEY HUNGRY SNAKE.
Can't call him a doctor so I'll refer to him as "Durrani". He has ruined mine and my husbands lives. He cannot be trusted. Please call elsewhere, don't fall for his appealing personality... it changes once he has destroyed your way of life. Second opinions are crucial if you are already involved with Durrani.
Please google lawsuits before seeing this doctor. I'm so much worse after his surgery, I regret the surgery and wish I'd never been referred to him.
He is not a good doctor. I am having worse pain than ever after having a L4-5 L5-1 fusion surgery. Waited hours in office and waited hours in hospital before he finally did my surgery. The last time I saw Dr Durrani, he said he needed to do another disc to get rid of my pain. I can't believe how many people in these reviews have had several surgeries and don't see anything weird about that. I will never go back to Dr Durrani, and already have an appointment with another doctor.
Just a horrible experience. Rude doctor and pushed me hard for surgery. I DONT RECOMMEND ANY ONE GOING TO HIM!!
Even though the wait time was a little long, I'd say 110% for sure that it has been and will continue to be worth it. I have had 2 surgeries with him so far, including an L4-L5 fusion. Before each surgery, I was presented with many different options and we thoroughly discussed each option. I chose to have the 2 surgeries, and it was the best thing I could have done. I have also had multiple steroid injections which have helped a lot as well. As long as I take care of myself, I don't have much pain at all whereas before I was in so much pain that even laying down was painful and I could hardly stand for 10 minutes a day. Surgery is not a fix-all. People need to realize that once you have a spine/neck injury, it cannot and will not go back to the way it was before the injury - even with surgery - so you will have some pain. You can't give up. Just because one treatment works for someone does not mean that it will work for everyone. I have never had a problem conveying my thoughts with Dr. Durrani, and he has always explained things to me so that I could understand, no matter how many different ways he had to explain them. I fully support Dr. Durrani and am honored to have him as my surgeon.
Dr. Durrani was the only Dr that finally got me out of pain. 3 surgeries. Two lumbar, one cervical. He has always listened and been ready to help. I felt in good hands and now life is so much better without the back pain.
I walked in he looked at my mri and said when would you like to have surgery? I was shocked I said are there alternatives he said theres a shot you can have for the pain but it doesn't really work for people. I told him I would have to think about this. I immediately called and scheduled with my MD to explain that nothing was explained to me at Dr Durrani's visit and could he pulled the notes and explain what my injuries are and the available treatments; I have since explored other option and received a referral from my MD for treatment. I choose to not have surgery as of now and do not hold anything related to that in regards to Dr Durrani except for the rudeness of the receptionist, the 2 hour wait, no explanation of a diagnosis; once I finish consulting with new specialist I will follow-up post if the quick determination for surgery was appropriate.
I am still in pain from the surgery he performed on my back and my neck its like something has grown on my right side i would never wish the kid of surgery done by DR Durrani ever I am in pain every day from the surgery Instead of fixing it he made it worst so passel make sure you do not let him do this to you what he done to me, I am even staring to lose balance in my right leg dr
I had to have emergency at the age of 16,I was seeing doctor after doctor out of Cin Childrens and they kept saying I was born with the feet problem and not to worry finally they sent me to this doctor after the x rays and mri they did.I had 2 discs cutting off my spinal cord he said I had about 2 wks or I would had been paralyzed from the waist down and never to walk again, and said to me and my family the doctors that I kept seeing should have sent me to him right away. Now sadly enough it was to late for my nerve damage but he did great with my surgery took a long time to start walking cause I was weak as most likely normal,I wished I got to him a lot earlier and he could had fixed my nerve damage or maybe had repaired it some.
Ten years ago at the age of 21 I found out that I had degenerative Disc disease and the doctor I was seeing at the time told me that I was too young to have any surgeries at that time. And I agreed with him. So to help with the pain I took meds and did PT. So after about a year of seeing him he said that he had done all he could do and that I would have the pain the rest of my life and my discs were deteriorating at a rapid rate. He said eventually you will need a spinal fusion and artificial disc replacement. So he sent me on to a pain management to monitor me on all the meds I was taking. Then after another year they sent me on to someone else and then I didnt have any insurance so I was stuck for years to just deal with the pain and many trips to the emergency rooms. I was taking by ambulance because I couldnt walk at times and the pain was so so bad. I had so many epidural injections and facet block injections from all the prior doctors. I seen surgeons and they kept telling me you need surgery but with no insurance i couldnt afford the surgeries. So in 2010 I started seeing a new pain management cause I got new insurance and he referred me last year to see Durrani. yeah the wait time in the office was a little long but that was because when he talks to his patients he took his time with them. I mean he talks loud and you can hear him explaining and listening to the patients. And when he explains to you what needs to be done you have a choice in the matter to do it or not. Well this year I had my first surgery at the L5 S1 to remove part of a disc that was herniated to relieve my leg pain. After surgery the leg pain was gone then I started PT and I was having a little pain but thought it was from just starting therapy. I went to my next visit and told him that I was just having to much pain. He ordered me a MRI i had that done within 2 days I was back in his office and he showed me where I had 2 more discs herniated fully blown out and that was why I was having all the pain. So now next week is my next surgery and I am having the artificial discs put in and a fusion with 2 screws. Doctorc do thier surgeries and sometimes they dont work and sometimes they do that is just the risk you take when you go under the knife. I knew this day would come for me and the surgeries I would have to have and I had many doctors tell me this. Just like any other surgeries you have to follow to the tee what they want you to do after surgery and I think the CAST crew and Durrani are great.
DR Durrani is one of the best doctor i have ever visit , have full command on his profession and also a nice human being
He has many pending lawsuits against him. Should not be a practicing surgeon. Treats patients unhumanely. Transfers from hospital to hospital after th ...
Duranni is a horrible person and surgeon. He conducts unnecessary surgeries and does not care about his patients or recovery. He installed two rods and said he replaced 6 discs but actually replaced 7 discs. After a year of Duranni telling me that I was getting better I finally went to another doctor who ordered a CT scan and told me that I should not have had a surgery and my fusions were not done correctly. Duranni never ordered a CT yet continued to say everything was healing correctly. The day of my surgery Duranni never even met with me and he did not check in with me until two days after my surgery and that was only to take out my chest tube. hospital. My family had to have a nurse track Duranni down 3 hours after my surgery (7 in total) for him to come and inform my family how the surgery went. He is one of the most arrogant people in the world and I would never wish what he has done to me on anyone. I now have to have another surgery from another doctorto fix all of his mistakes. Do not make the same mistake I did and trust him.
Dr. Durrani had followed by daughter's scoliosis for 5 years and then recommended surgery to prevent pain that was sure to increase during her college years due to, he said, the degree of curve in her spine. After doing some research on the Dr. we decided to get a 2nd opinion. We found out that the degree of her curve was 15 degrees from the current recommendation for surgery. While he may have helped some people, I would not recommend following his advice without a 2nd opinion.
I was referred to Durrani for evaluation of atlantoaxial instability. He diagnosed me based on an MRI and CT scan. He discouraged my from seaking a second opinion, telling me that other surgeons don't understand my genetic condition and couldn't give me a real opinion. He was unprofessional with me before and after the surgery. Wait times in his office are terrible, and I observed his staff being unkind to other patients on several occasions. After the surgery, I had initial improvement. Over time, I began to worsen again. On the day of the surgery, Durrani met with my husband and told him he'd found several very alarming thing during the procedure, and that he'd corrected them. As I started to worsen, I requested copies of records regarding the surgery. None of the frightening things he'd mentioned to my husband were mentioned in the notes. When I was shown by another doctor where it said clearly in my presurgical records that I did not have the condition Durrani operated for, I began to worry and do some research on line. I saw reports that his surgical notes are often incorrect. My notes weren't written for months after the surgery. It appears that he has been asked to leave the staff at several local hospitals as a result of these issues, and allegations of even worse. I regret ever having met him, I certainly regret letting him make me believe that I had a rare condition that only he could treat. I hope I can help even one person, to keep them from going through what I've been through under Durrani's "care".
My daughter was referred to Dr. Durrani by her pediatrician for neck pain. He ordered tests which he claimed showed TWO cervical disc herniations and an unstable vertebrae. He wanted to do surgery then, but was o.k. with her doing therapy first. During that time, I met a nurse who knew of his reputation and I also found out that he lost privileges at one of Cincy's best hospitals. Being a nurse, I KNOW what this means and I never took her to him again. After being treated by another MD with non-invasive injections to her muscles and PT, she had relief for two years. Recently, her pain started up again and she was referred to an orthopedic spine specialist who informed me that SHE NEVER HAD ANY OF THE INJURIES DR. DURRANI DIAGNOSED HER WITH THREE YEARS AGO!!!!! I'm so grateful that I had enough sense to not jump on his surgical band wagon, but I am really really upset that he has caused her lost time with her sport and the countless hours I have worried about her. I know there are probably reviews from disgruntled patients on here and not everything you may read is true, but I'm telling you from a nurses point of view, I would never take my loved one to him. EVER. I feel so sorry for those who do not have a medical background and take everything the doctor says as fact. My advice= find a different doctor! If a doctor loses their privilege to practice at any hospital, it's usually because they are a HUGE liability for said institution!
After my surgery my pain level did nothing but increase in all areas. Nothing I was told prior to surgery as far as improvement happened after the surgery. I was told over and over again more physical therapy to solve my problem. Finally a Physical Therapist wrote up a review stating that all the physical therapy in the world would not help me, that I was getting worst an something in my back had to still be causing issues. Dr Durrani read it and said that the therapist did not know what they were talking about. I requested test over and over again and finally Durrani order them but they were to be done and read by his people which I did not trust since I had my records changed by the same prior. Had the test ordered by another doctor. The MRI showed the presents still of all the herniated disc that were there before the surgery PLUS A NEW HERNIATED DISC THAT WAS NOT THERE PRIOR TO SURGERY. The MRI showed now that I had a vertebra that was out of line possibly causing pain issues. The MRI also showed that the spinal fusion that was to be done DID NOT WORK, and the fusion was to resolve several issues one of them being to plug a hole/tear in a disc leaking spinal fluid. In short I am worst now than before the surgery. After an office visit that brought me to tears from pain for waiting 3 hours and 20 minutes to see Dr. Durrani with no apologies I sent him a bill for all the time beyond his normal 1 hour wait along with the MRI readings. I shortly after that got a call from his office advising me that I was discharge from Dr. Durrani's practice. In short you need to read all the reviews you can about this Doctor for I wish I had done that prior to surgery for I would have never let him touch me. Also it looks like a Physical Therapist knows more than Dr. Durrani does to me along with the fact that he did not take any action to correct the condition he put me in after surgery.
I was 16 years old and suffering from severe back pain with bilateral leg weakness. I was referred to several orthopedic/spine specialists, none of them having an official diagnosis. It was "take some of these Ibuprofen and stretch more." I had 2 vertebral fractures of my L4 and L5 with a degenerated disc.Dr. Durrani diagnosed me with spondylolisthesis. Dr. Durrani and Dr. Mangano from Children's Hospital performed a spinal fusion of my L4/L5 and placed an artificial disc. I can not say more positive things about Dr. Durrani, even 5 years after surgery. I still have back pain, but I can walk and I can tolerate it. Walking before surgery was a struggle and seemed to be a dream. His surgery allowed me to be a Firefighter/Paramedic and play sports again, that I had to stop in high school. Through all the "negative" complaints you hear from the public and Eric "The Bulldog" Deters, I will stand behind and continue to see Dr. Durrani as long as the letters "M.D." follow his name.
Dr. Duranni, operated on my daughter for scoliosis. It took 5 surgeries, due to her body rejecting the straightening of the spine. He was caring, considerate,a great doctor. She has been great after surgery. I trust Dr. Durrani with everthing, My highest recommendations and thanks for what he did for my daughter.
Saved my sons life with minimally invasive scoliosis surgery. Known around the world as top surgeon, pioneered minimally invasive surgery for scoliosis. Excellent communicator. You won't find a better back surgeon. Families come from around the country to see him. My highest recommendation and thanks.
This Dr ruined my son.s and wife back operation He lied about the results
I was treated very well until after the surgery and they found out that I was going to have my rehabilitation done at another practice. At that time it is like they tried to get rid of me as soon as possible. They kept using the word "normal" in place of taking the time to reading my case file and seeing that my case was not normal that I came into their practice with a condition that was not normal. In fact I was told that they could help me with the pain caused by the herniated dics, and the tear in the dics, but could do nothing with the issues caused by the damage root nerve. Every time I need something done it is done in the "normal fashion" do to the fact that the office staff does not take the time to read my file to find out what is not normal. The information I was given prior to surgery showing what would be done during surgery was none factual. I had all kinds of extra hardware placed into my back with no more explanation than it was needed. Nor was I consulted prior to it being done. The only time I hear my case being said it is not normal is when they are referring to my recovery time. When I ask them why it is not like all the examples they show you prior to surgery. I had was having physical therapy done at another practice which tried to call Dr Durrani office three times and never got a reply from them. Then Dr. Durrani's staff reports in writing that I was not getting physical therapy as I should have been. When I wrote them about how my pain was increasing while on therapy I got a email from them advising me that I should slow down on my P/T now does that make any sense. I had surgery done on another part of my body and had to stop taking P/T. That surgeon was writing me a very mild pain med to off set the discomfort from that surgery. While in the hospital for 5 weeks I was taking the pain medication for my back pain and the pain caused by the new surgery. When I got out Dr. Durrani's staff cut off all my pain medication for my back even though they were told what I was taking for the newest surgery was very mild, now I am just laying around suffering. The new surgery has greatly limited my ability to travel which Durrani's staff has been informed and they still refused to write pain prescriptions for my back pain. My Urologist even offered to do this when he seen me and the pain I was in, but I informed him it was not his responsibility it was Durrani's office job to do that. The Urologist could not understand what was the problem since what he had me on was so MILD. In short Dr. Durrani's practice treats you as a NORMAL NUMBER...they want your money and then to forget about you. I will say I believe the majority of this comes from his staff for I do not know how much of my communication get to the doctor, for I have requested 3 times to have him call me and have yet to talk to him!
Dr. Durrani gave me my life back, when I first saw him I could hardly walk I did have surgery on my lower back and followed everything he told me to do, I did all of the physical therapy and with in a few weeks I was feeling great. It has been 16 months since my surgery and I have never felt better. I believe 50% Dr. Durrani and 50% helping yourself.
my back surgery was suppose to make my foot pain, my leg pain, and most of all my back pain BETTER. it did nothing but make ALL of my pains WORSE. i WOULD NOT recommend this surgeon to anybody, or atleast make sure you get a second opinion.
I think dr durrani made my neck worse than befor the surgary almost 2 years ago and im not going to take it lying down
I would not recommend this doctor to anyone. He is starting to be well known in the medical field for doing surgeries that are NOT necessary. Please get a second opinion before letting him operate. I did not, and know I am going to be suffering the rest of my life in pain he caused.
