 |  BEWARE - THIS DR MADE A FALSE CPS COMPLAINT AGAINST US  |  show details
by ANONYMOUS on Nov 16th, 2013

BEWARE - This "Doctor" has a history of making malicious and false complaints to NY Child Protective Services! I never thought I would be forced to write a negative review of a medical professional but I never expected to be the victim of a false NY CPS complaint. This doctor was a "pediatric hospitalist" at Burdett Care Center (BCC) in September 2013 (I have been informed by a hospital executive that the hospitalist contract was cancelled due to issues like this!). This was our 3rd child and I must say that the nursing staff at BCC and the midwives of Capital Care Midwifery were WONDERFUL. We had a well-experienced doula and had submitted our desired birth plan to BCC staff. This hospitalist was summoned out of precaution by the BCC staff but was politely informed he was not needed as the baby was 100% healthy at delivery (2 APGAR scores of "9"). As our child was "skin to skin" with my wife (per our birth plan), Dansunankul ignored the midwives and nurses and demanded to examine our child on the other side of the delivery room. We requested multiple times that he conduct his examination of our child on my wife, as they were skin to skin. Each time he refused until I forcefully advised him "this was not the time nor the place" for this discussion. To our surprise, he left the room after failing to conduct the examination he was demanding. That led us to two conclusions: 1) He realized that our child did not require his services, thus verifying the falsity of his CPS complaint against my wife and I or 2) He neglected his lawful duties to provide medical assistance as he saw fit because he of his embarrassing actions observed by the medical staff. One week later, NY CPS investigators came to our home. The Doctor's complaint claimed that our child was "blue and non-responsive" and that the mother and father "refused medical assistance." When I explained the situation, CPS investigators were SO APOLOGETIC - so much so the CPS Supervisor apologized to us on behalf of the County for having to subject us to this. We filed a written complaint against Dansunankul with the NY Office of Professional Medical Conduct, as did our doula and the midwife/midwife group. We received a letter of apology from Samaritan Hospital and the NY CPS report was found to be "unfounded." Never before have we experienced anything remotely like this. We believe in positive parenting and the safety and welfare of our children are our primary concern. If you utilize this "doctor," be aware - you may find yourself the unwitting victim of a false and malicious NY CPS complaint, as this doctor will use CPS as a recourse should you not agree with him. Shame on you, Auyporn Dansunankul!
