Dr. Barry Kaplan, MD

Please be sure to look up this mans history before allowing him to perform surgery on you. There is a reason he left Florida.

He's an older, more experienced doc, but he keeps up with the miniminally invasive techniques. He's a nice guy who genuinely cares about patient outcomes.

Failed surgery

I had been referred to Dr. Kaplan by a friend who had surgery last year. I was pleasantly surprised that I was seen within 15 minutes of my appointment. When he entered the room he was pleasant and upbeat. He talked with me, explaining my MRI results and what he felt needed to be done to correct my problem. At no time did he give any indication that I was not his only patient. He listened closely to me and responded to all my questions. He did an incredible job working on my spine as there was more damage than he anticipated. I had hoped for minimally invasive surgery but he told me up front that would not be possible with all the damage. I would recommend this excellent doctor to anyone looking at back surgery. I would take the negative reviews seriously and get a second opinion, if you have time. Dr. Kaplan left my aunt with a severe cognitive deficit. Ten other medical professionals attending to her during that week recommended further treatment. He wouldn't even review their notes or discuss it, other than to say that he knows best. Thank God for the other medical professionals involved, "professional" being the operative word. Even the medical professionals at two different hospitals grimaced at the mention of him being the surgeon, one went as far as consulting a different neurosurgeon to clear some additional meds.

Dr Kaplan performed four cervical fusions on my neck, surgery's were a complete success I have one more to go and wont let anyone else operate on my neck but Dr Kaplan, in 1994 he operated on my dad for a brain tumor that three other doctors said couldn't be done as they gave my dad two weeks to live. Dr Kaplan operated on my dad and it was a successful surgery but the tumor grew back he operated again and it was a success but again it grew back my dad lived an extra ten months and only because Dr Kaplan was his surgeon and there's no way I can ever repay him for the extra time he gave my family with my dad. He was excellent and his bedside manner was awesome whenever I called him no matter what time of the day or night I always received a call back from him . A one of a kind doctor the best of the best

I would not let this man operate on my dog!! Horrible Doctor who should be ashamed of himself!!!

Have had back problems and pain for 30+ years. Dr. Kaplan did a fusion in my neck and laminectomy on my lower back and I've been pain free ever since. Not what I would call great bedside manner, but that being said, he may be the best surgeon in Ocala and I trust him, which I can say about very few Doctors in Ocala!

Dr.Kaplan is an outstanding surgeon. After 30 year's of back pain, Dr.Kaplan performed a double fusion in my neck and have been pain free ever since. After 30 years of pain, discomfort and medication I am pain free and more importantly, medication free. Dr. Kaplan is strictly business. If you want some one to hold your hand and rub your head, he's not your man. If you want to be cured and on to a better life, he's your Dr.

I have seen Dr. Kaplan in the office several times. He is a kind, caring, and funny Doctor! He does what he says he will, and is honest if he feels you will get improvement with physical therapy or pain management instead of surgery. He is prompt, and his secretary Jackie is amazing. Thanks Dr. K
