 |  Dr. Tanner is BARIATRIC KING  |  show details
by Chris Bostock on Jul 24th, 2013

I saw Dr. Tanner at a seminar at the Norton Weightloss Center on Dupont Rd and right away I knew he was the one for my surgery for several reasons: sense of humor, honesty, knowledge, and self presentation. I moved through the process of getting approved for the surgery due to my eagerness to change my life very fast. On June 27th 2012, my life changed forever. I got to the hospital early, got all the paperwork done, went to my room then they wheeled me back. I went in weighing 480 pounds and to make a long wonderful story short, here I am July 24th 2013 and I weigh 256. Important life change factors: Beginning weight 480, 395 days later 256. Beginning BMI 63.33, today's BMI 33.77, % of weight loss after 395 days 53%. Starting shirt size 6XL now 2XL, pant size beginning 64 now 42. I had high blood pressure and was on medication, no medication and blood pressure of a teenager now. I have had sleep apnea for 8-10 years, I am now 4 points away from being able to retire my machines. Dr. Tanner gave me the tools to make a positive change in my life, he gave me a book with several blank pages in it and allowed me to re-write a story of what I had always wanted my life to be. Line by line and chapter by chapter, I am writing my brand new book. My journey is not over, it will never be over... I am a fat man inside, but my heart and head allow me to be strong and never go back to the guy I was before. If you are reading this and would like to talk to someone about this surgery, contact me at and I will be in touch with you. In closing I would like to reiterate what wonderful human beings Dr. Tanner and his entire staff are, YOU ALL ARE AWESOME!!

My opinion of Dr. Benjamin Tanner as a surgeon is the very best. My results after surgery were wonderful with a 65 pound weight loss which was 10 pounds below his goal for me.He was always very kind during each visit before and after surgery. During those times of my own discouragement with the pace of my weight loss, he always assured me that the goal results would be attained in due time, and he was correct. He was always courteous and respectful toward me. I have since moved back to my home state of IL, but would not hesitate to make the drive to KY to see Dr. Tanner if a problem should arise. My overall health is so much better as well as my self-esteem. I had been a relatively thin person 2/3 of my 60 years of age so I had a hard time adjusting emotionally and physically to being obese. That is a word which will never be apart of my life again. My appreciation goes to Dr. Tanner for his excellent surgical abilities and "bedside manner"! Regards,Janice
