Please read all the reviews before you make your decision to hire Dr Bert Mandelbaum, don't make the same mistake I made. I was referred to Dr Mandelbaum by a family Dr , it is true Dr Mandelbaum is an excellent doctor knows what he is doing a lot of experience. Eight weeks ago I had torn meniscus, Dr Mandelbaum did the operation successfully , he did great job , but after the surgery the problems surface , the doctor has a very busy practice , they over booked , I had a follow up appointment eight weeks after the surgery arrived on time to see him I waited for over an hour to find out I have to wait another 2 hours just to see him for 5 minutes to check my knee , I couldn't wait I did not think it is fair for me to waste my time . I was warned by my family doctor and others not to go to him because there is no personal attention , they treat it as business , remember they charge you for everything the doctor visit and a separate fee for the facility which wasn't not disclose to me. UCLA would have been a better choice, it is too late for me but not for you.
Was referred by another patient. Told I could not see the doctor until I had an MRI of my knee and completed a lengthly questionnaire. Did both and scheduled an appointment with the doctor. Waited over an hour and was seen by one of his chief residents who told me my knee was perfect and I could run again. Pain never subsided. Six months later I consulted with a new physician who asked why, based on my symptoms, there had been no MRI of my hip. The MRI showed I need a hip replacement. Dr. Mandelbaum's staff also lied to me as there were people waiting to see him filling out the questionnaire. If the MRI of the knee had shown I needed surgery, I believe I would have seen Mandelbaum, not a resident.
Dr Mandelbaum has a solid reputation through out Los Angeles and the United States as one of the leading orthopedic surgeons with a specialty in knees. He is also one of leading cartilage restoration
DR MANDELBAUM`S OFFICE IS SO UNETHICAL. I went in as a patient with no insurance.
One more update Let me be more specific about how Mandelbaum let me down. Back in the mid-1990s, he told me I`d never run again. Over the next ten years, he performed two procedures that did little
As others have noted, the office experience isn`t great, but I`m a nut for finding the right doctor who is relatively conservative, patient, and answers questions. Dr. Mandelbaum was all of those
So, if you want to be his patient, expect to wait from 30 minutes to 2 hours.
ok not sure about this but my friend wanted me to write a review for her since she`s still seeing this dr.......operation was good....aftercare was very bad.1. you get a hand out sheet of what to do
The more I learn about knees, the less satisfied i am with Mandelbaum. I`ve now learned all the things he failed to tell me about during the ten or so years in which he was my doctor, e.g., a
Not sure how someone could give Dr. Mandelbaum 1 star, but I digress.First of all, most orthopedic surgeries are cookie-cutter and any OS could do a menisectomy and debridement with their eyes closed.
In 2004 I tore my ACL in half during training to become a firefighter. Dr Mandelbaum came highly recommended and was able to see me on short notice. He spent time with me and told me my options but recommended replacing my ACL with a cadaver ligament. I had the operation approx one month after the accident, and after AGGRESSIVE physical therapy I was back at the fire academy just three and a half months after the surgery! My knee has held up extremely well and it is thanks to Dr Mandelbaum. Thank you Dr Mandelbaum; it is because of you I am a firefighter and can do the things I love (ski, run, and compete in triathlons). Only con is the time spent in the waiting room; but it was WAY worth it!

First of all, let it be said that I`ve never had a knee injury that didn`t heal on its own hence, I have not had any personal experience with Mandelbaum`s surgical skills. As a diagnostician however,
I would wait a life time to have Dr. Mandelbaum work on me. When it comes to knee surgeries, there is nobody better. I don`t care how long I have to wait because when it comes to the life of my
This is my first yelp review ever. I saw Dr. Mandelbaum on the recommendation of my general practitioner after a shoulder injury. I waited 2 hours to see the good doctor in a waiting room crammed with
If you have heard great things about Dr. Mandelbaum and in awe of seeing him, here is something you need to know. He recommends needless surgery at the drop of a hat. Thats what drives up his revenue. Never let him cut you up until you have a second opinion. The other thing he will stick you with is OrthoVisc injections. Even if you have a headache he will prescribe orthovisc. His clinic is driven by greed to maximize revenue and does not care about your well being. I found out after a year that he performed the wrong, needless procedure on my knee. and the underlying problem still persists. So be careful before you let him cut you up. Always ask for a second opinion and don't be in awe!
Dear Dr. Mandelbaum`s office,Your patients keep calling my cell phone for physical therapy, but I`m not a physical therapist!!!Please update your records for the Westside Wellness & Rehab with the
Dr. Mandelbaum 35Dr. Bert Mandelbaum came highly recommended, but I didn`t have PPO insurance at the time - only Kaiser HMO.I went to Dr. Bert Mandelbaum for his opinion on arthritis, success
I had to go through a series of appointments before I could meet my surgeon, who was Dr. Bert Mandelbaum. I saw him at my pre-op appt. He was friendly, but the visit was quick. He did answer my questions. The surgery went well, and he did a great job. I never got to see him after that, though. I would have liked to thank him but I think that because of his popularity and expertise, demands on his time prevent him from being able to have closer contact with his patients. Overall, I am glad he was the one who did my surgery. I will be sending him a thank you note. Dr. Berry saw me for the post surgery visits, and he was gentle and caring.
Dr Mamdelbaum did my knee surgery in 2009. I'm already having trouble with it. I called to make an appointment for him to look at it and the soonest is 3 weeks from now and a warning that it is STANDARD for the patient to wait 2 hours. I asked why and his receptionist said "because he's a well known doctor". Give me a break! There are many doctors out there who are wonderful surgeons that haven't become this arrogant. I guess us little people are expected to take that much time out of our work day to wait for the wizard to come from behind the curtain.Needless to say, I will be using another doctor. You lost my business Dr M and hopefully this review will stop other people from coming there too!
dr Mandelbaum is a fake. He`s gonna fall from faux grace one day soon. I made an appointment to see him, waited 2 hours, was forced to pay an astronomical fee before I was seen and was seen by an
I was referred to Dr. Mandelbaum by his wife, my children`s pediatrician. Things went down hill from there. Per the other reviews, the wait time is excessive and the doctor`s interest is minimal. At
One of the best knee guys on the West Coast. Saved my active life. Great experience from start to finish.
Dr. Mandelbaum is one of the highest regarded doctors in his profession. While it may be difficult to get much of his time, the time you do get it very well worth it. He is THE expert in his field. I
This is the first time that I have written a review on Yelp. I was compelled to do so after a very unpleasant experience with the Santa Monica Orthopedic Center, run by Dr Mandelbaum. Fifteen plus
On a personal level Dr. M is quite nice when you are in his presence, however, you don`t get to spend much time. I had gone to him ten years ago for two meniscus repairs. This was the third and
