Dr. Betty Chou, MD

Dr. Chou is an excellent physician. Very knowledgeable, professional and personable. I never feel rushed and she takes the time to answer my questions fully and in easily understood terms. I have been going to her for many years, following her from the Odenton office to the Baltimore location. I highly recommend her.

I feel compelled to post a review of Dr. Chou after reading the only other review. I was surprised to see the comments regarding her being cold, etc. She has always been very personable, but professional above all. She sometimes seems to be anticipating what I may tell her and in that sense may seem off-putting, but the reality is, she remembers everything I tell her (Some things I wish I hadn't told her, but that is on me) and always asks if I have questions, if she has been clear, etc. She even has followed up in writing and by phone. She took the time to assess the kind of relationship I wanted with my healthcare provider, i.e., a partner or a more take-charge approach. She seemed comfortable in either roll and has been very accommodating, even taking a wait-and-see approach when she sensed I was uncomfortable rushing into eliminating a worst case scenario possibility. I would give her a 4 star review, but her office is not up to my standards. The reception staff has been… (every time I have visited) whining about their personal lives, and nobody in that sort of setting wants to hear that...come on people. Also, the same group seems to be very put off by anyone who has a question. Sheesh! Also, the wait time can be excessive, and with very little communication from the staff as to how long one may expect to wait, I would clear a half a day to be sure I could make my next appointment whenever I schedule with her. That is not cool, but the truth is, I like Dr. Chou that much. This may just be the case at the Odenton office. I cannot speak to the other locations. In all, I think Dr. Chou is a fine doctor and would recommend her as someone who takes her profession seriously and cares about her patients. Just bring your patience with you.

Doctor Chou is very cold. She makes me feel as if she does not want to see me, and every time I asked a question she rolled her eyes like is a problem for her to answer. I only saw her for my annuals for 2 years in a row, but after my last visit I had enough. I am finding a new OBGYN.
