DO NOT GO TO PHENIX CITY PAIN MANAGEMENT IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR HEALTH. THIS DOCTOR IS NOT A NEUROLOGIST, HE'S AN ANESTHESIOLOGIST. Although he’s able to practice in pain management does not mean that you should put yourself at risk. My husband went here for back injections and that requires an IV. Dr. Berryman and his staff are not following protocols set by OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration). Failure to wear gloves during the insertion of the IV and the removal of the IV, is a direct violation. I was with my husband and seen this happen two times. The nurse will enter the room and touch everything to take the bloodpressure, using the pen to write, and the tray table that is used for the insertion of the IV, then without washing her hands or wearing gloves, she will open all of the sterile supplies and place an IV. The last time, I questioned the nurse and the doctor about not wearing gloves, and was told that this is the way he does things. The room where my husband… was carried for the back injections, no staff or doctor wore a medical mask. This is another violation. None of the staff in the room was wearing gloves. The doctor didn’t clean his back with iodine, he used an alcohol swab before giving my husband epidural lumbar Injections. Then the x-ray tech who was in the room the whole time touching various things, took out my husband's IV without washing his hands or putting on gloves. These standards are set by OSHA and this applies to any hospital or clinic. It’s a violation of personal protective equipment (PPE) and sanitation. All doctors and nurses must adhere to these standards to protect everyone from any infections, primarily the IV site and potential bloodstream. These infections include Staph (staphylococcal infections), which is a serious bloodstream infection and can cause paralysis.

Wait time ridiculous. Was told a mattress pad and a shot was what I needed, plus I was put on a medication (non addictive) that made my blood pressure drop dangerously low. They do not have an after hours or weekend emergency contact so the only option I had was the ER. I decided not to go back yet was charged for a no-show appointment, and my insurance was billed for an epidural procedure that I DID NOT HAVE! I reported this immediately to my insurance company after arguing with his staff. Would not recommend!

I am a 2+ year patient of Dr. B's. Starting about 6 months ago he started lowering my med level from 115 MME to my current level of 75 MME. His "crystal ball" told him that the DEA, CDC and Medicare, are going to force doctors to prescribed no more than 75 MME within a year, so he is just getting ready for it. During my last visit, today, I tried to explain that the pain level was unbearable, and asked him to please go back to at least the recommended max of 90 MME. It was not open for discussion. I was told that it was take what he was going to prescribe, or go to rehab. I have been in severe pain for 22 years, with 4 fractured vertebrae, and I am recovering from a broken leg and fractured hip. My left cheekbone is being held together by titanium plates because of being hit in the cheek with a 60+ mph softball. It has even started hurting again. These charts that I waste my time filling out do not matter. On today's I put my quality of life was zero. I explained that I can not do… anything unassisted. None of this matter. It was either stay at the level he wants me at, or go to rehab. I am now searching for a competent Pain Specialist, because he definitely is not.

Don’t use this so called pain doctor because he thinks he is god and yet does not believe in god he thinks shots is the cure for everything but yet he looses patience randomly,he’s always on the phone and drinking coffee and your wait can be hours because of this,he drug screens every other month by pissing in a cup and some times forgets to do this,his staff talks about how bad he treats them, OxyContin is not the solution god is,beware of the devil in disguise

I was sent to this doctor for a nerve block after a MRI diagnosed bulging discs in my neck. My family doctor had previously done procedure, but was sent to pain management since he was new to practice. (Preferred Medical Group) Mr. Berryman ( I refuse to call him doctor) told me the ONLY thing wrong with me was that I had large breasts and women with large breast are ashamed of them and tend to slump over to camouflage them. When I tried to explain to him that I wasn't ashamed of my breast, and that I may be slumping because I had been up at the hospital for several days and nights with my mother who was dying, he then told me, "that's nothing, there was a lady in here last week who lost her son, and that is way worse than what you are going though." While I am sure that was worse for her, and am sorry for her loss, It was NOT worse for me. After being insulted, and humilitaed by this idiot, I asked about the nerve block that I was sent to him for, and was then told that they did not… do it on the first visit, and they would call me in 2 weeks after he got back from vacation to schedule it. I decided right then I would not be going back to this doctor or Preferred Medical Group again. I never did get a call back to schedule appt, but I got a bill for an additional amount my insurance didn't cover and a no-show appt. The office staff argued with me when I called to tell them I never had an appointment and I would not be paying a no show for an appointment I never made. I had been waiting for them to call with the appointment so I could tell them I would not be back. I wouldn't reccomend any one @ Preferred Medical Group. All they are interested in is milking insurance companies and patients for money.

I was referred to pain management after having back surgery. I was left with nerve damage. I picked Berryman because he was closer to work. There are only 2 pain management places in the area. I was treated like a drug addict. I was given a pregnancy test even though the medication I was on does not affect child birth. Dr. Berryman could not explain why I was having to take a pregnancy test for any other reason. He wanted to give me an epidural even though I was doing fine on the medication that I was on which was not a narcotic. All I needed was a refill of my medication(again not a narcotic). Of course epidurals are much more money for the doctor. It is a procedure where he would make a lot more money that just prescribing a pill. The man obssessed about my weight to the point that it was abusive. I'm fat and I understand you are telling me that losing weight would help my core and subsequently my back, but he was literally degrading me about it. He is a weirdo and I… agree with the other reviewers, I'm not sure he is a licensed doctor any more. I was told by another doctor that Berryman can no longer practice at the local hospitals because none of the doctors wanted to work in surgery with him. He is obnoxious and just trying to get money from all of his patients. His staff is also terrifying. The front desk lady that you have to deal with literally told me I would start get tremors from the medication that I was taking and would eventually have to come off of it and of course have epidurals. I'm not sure how a receptionist would know anything about my medical situation. They are all unprofessional and disgusting. I shudder to think that I let that weirdo piece of crap examine me even once. Lesson learned. Stay away!!!!!!

WILL NOT GO BACK!!!! I was told that my large breasts were causing my pain not the 6 herniated degenerative disks my appt was at 7:45 am I didn't get out until noon!!!

I completely agree with the statements of the other reviews. He is really hung up on mattress pad warmer, and epidurals. My wait tI'm was always1-2 hours with no other patients in the waiting area. He and the staff very unprofessional . Not totally convenienced that he is a Dr. All of his patients are referred to psychiatrist, of his choice, not sure if he receives congruity for each patient or what. They all receive epidurals if you are brave enough to let him. Make sure you get that mattress warmer, it takes care of all your problems. He should be reported.I asked about when I would be seen their response was when he gets to you. If that is the way it goes why even make an appointment ,should be first come first served. THIS PLACE IS A JOKE

WORST DOCTOR EVER. i was in excruciating pain, nauseous, and vomiting. i was made to wait three hours and they weren't even busy. when he did finally "see" me, he was on his cell phone with his best friend gabbing away. then, when he hung up, he started drinking his coffee - finally, after about five-ten minutes, he talked to me, he laughed at me for throwing up (umm...hello, my pain is a 10! of course I'm going to be throwing up, that's what pain does)... then, he kept telling me i needed psychiatric help because i was vomiting (again, hello...level 10 pain DUH). then, he wanted to tell me my pain was related to uterus problems and kept telling me i need an OBGYN doctor...even though i have CANCER and a tumor in my bones. THEN, he said my tumor is "only small" - who has EVER called cancer only "small"? He sucks. -1 stars
