Dr. Charles Brandon Qualls, MD

Dr Qualls began his career on a high note. Thirty years ago he had a very good pleasant personality and was a leader treating anorexics, then suddenly he became unfriendly, unapproachable, and quiet. He became short tempered and irritable, he unsuccessfully worked with the Weld group. It is unfortunate, but something happened to really change him.

i believe he is on spectrum with his social skills, and lack of executive functioning

Out of touch; has slipped in the last couple of years. Has shown less investment in treatment & outcome. Saw for rushed 15 minute appointment, yet charged my insurance for additional 30 minutes counseling. Just wow. Slipshod paperwork. Took 3 weeks to return 4 page form. Most of it blank. The rest had incompletete information. Could not submit. No changes in meds when requested by other critical specialists. Will not refer out for tests requested. Actively seeking new psychiatrist.

I'm lucky to have him as my Dr. Wouldn't trust ,or like anyone else.Dr.Qualls has known me quite a few years . Very big help for me.

Dr. Qualls is really smart. He will help you rather than just prescribe medication.

He looked at his computer the entire time I talked. I never really felt comfortable.

Consistently late and cuts time short for appointments. Doesn't listen to symptoms and makes conclusions without asking questions. Got angry when I asked to have a consult for a second opinion with another MD in his office. Got angry when he told me to call him about a medication and whether it was working. Had his staff leave voicemail that I should call my insurance company and find a doctor in another practice. Very petty, threatened by anyone who questions his authority, very arrogant and I feel his cutting me off from services without a referral is malpractice.

Awesome Doctor understood what I was having trouble getting other doctors to understand. He got me the right medication and I am doing better than I have in years. Thank you Doctor Qualls.

Dr. Qualls has been my psychiatrist since I was 18 years old. Twenty years later, he is still my psychiatrist at 38. I am sad reading some over the reviews because they are misleading. He is an exceptional psychiatrist who truly know an enourmous amount about eating disorders and bipolar disorder among other things. He definitely follows up after appts. and returns phone calls if you need him too. He is very compasionate and knowledgeable. When I met Dr. Qualls I was being admitted into Butler Hospital for an eating disorder. He was extremely kind, knowledgeable and concerned. A short time later, he diagnosed me with bipolar disorder. He has been a gift in my life. I have been living a successful life with bipolar disorder because of him. I truly appreciate his guidance and knowledge. It hasn't always been easy(depression is very difficult to work through), but I would never think of switching to a different psychiatrist. He is very well respected among all at Butler and… PPC of Rhode Island. If you are considering a psychiatrist, trust me when I say he is absolutely a wonderful choice.

I needed a psychiatrist and although Dr. Qualls came highly recommended to me by several physicians, his ratings here had me a little worried. However, I found him to be quite knowledgeable, an excellent listener, he asked pertinent questions, took his time with me and showed a general concern with my mental health and current distress. I so enjoyed our visit that I told him that he wasn't a creep at all as some of the ratings indicated. We then had quite a chuckle.
