Dr. Brandon Lee Smallwood, MD

This physician is apathetic, disrespectful, and dismissive of patient concerns. I went to New Hanover because I thought they had high standards and delivered quality care to their patients. I was absolutely horrified to find that they have chosen a physician who treats patient so terribly to employ in their emergency department. At no point during our interaction, did he show the slightest concern for my distress. He did not allow me to answer any of his questions, before interrupting me. I am a 52 year old, registered nurse and I have never in my life been treated so poorly by a physician. I will never use this emergency department for myself or my family again. I am sure there are better providers at this hospital. However, the possibility of Brandon Smallwood being the assigned provider, is not a risk I am willing to take.

Arrogant condescending rude why isn’t this incompetent persons education isnt under his profile did he too like so many at nhrmc go to school in the islands somewhere for 6 years

Dismissive and condescending bedside manner. Didn't care to hear about medical history or want to give credence to the information I was offering as pretainant to what was occurring currently. He's the epitome of why patients avoid going to the ER seeking medical assistance even when it's needed. I regret going after being seen by him especially since I'll probably receive a hefty bill for the poor care I received. Since this was an ER visit, there wasn't a follow up visit.
