Wonder Person and Doctor an really cares.
Dr. Cicuto was part of a larger operation when I first saw him. As in many fields, he moved twice during the time I saw him, more than a decade. I had a bomb blow up in my face and took a year before I could walk, at first I wasn't expected to live 48 hrs. EVERY doctor I went to gave me Tylenol 3 for pain and codeine is good for sleep but I had ruptured nerves, lost the use of my left arm(great for a pianist) and had burns all over my body despite having a fire retardant suit on(it melted, NOMEX). He listened, he was the first doctor to fully address the amount of pain I was enduring. Being awake nearly all the time didn't make things better though I could work over the computer. Dr. Cicuto helped make my life easier to live because he cared enough to prescribe medications other MD's were too worried the DEA would see they gave morphine sulfate to a patient. Some patients need strong pain medication. I have always had a high tolerance to medications for one, slept very little before being injured, and suffered agonizing pain until discovering Dr. Cicuto. He is no longer at the practice, a large one where he was unable to most likely spend the time necessary with each patient, so, moved on. Having left the US, I haven't seen him but when I needed records sent to Israel, they were here within 48 hrs and prepared properly and accepted by the physicians here. I can only say the best about Dr. Brian Cicuto as he cares about his patients more than anything else when it comes to medicine. I respect this former US Marine because he knows how to serve. If you are in severe pain, choose him as the doctor to serve you.
He takes time with you. He reviews what is going on with your medical conditions as well as your life circumstances. He involves his patients in their treatment plan as well as educating his patients.
One of the best Doctors I have been to.
Most of the comments in this list refer to Dr. Cicuto during the time he practiced at Centre Commons. Since he left there and joined ChoiceCare he is NOT the same doctor. Not even in the same ballpark. He has decided to look out for himself over the needs of his patients. He is not a bad doctor, rather he has been reduced to a very ordinary and run-of-the-mill pain doctor. You will find him to be like every other pain specialist you've ever seen. It's very sad. He used to be so much more.
The very best pain doctor I dealt with after suffering major burns, ruptured nerves and other injuries from a major explosion from my work in the pyrotechnics industry. I highly recommend Dr. Cicuto especially if you've found nothing but frustration and lack of sensitivity to your pain from other practitioners who claim to specialize in pain management. The only reason I left the care of Dr. Cicuto is that I moved to Israel.
best doctor you will ever have the pleasure of seeing
I have been a patient of Dr. Brian Cicuto's for about four years now, he has been the most professional, intelligent, & compassionate doctor that I have ever encountered in the nine years that I have been living with pain. He has been given me the knowledge of how to live with my pain in everyday life and has treated me with such respect and dignity. The doctor patient relationship was so understanding & strong; it is exactly what you would expect it to be. It is a great tragedy that UPMC had let him go and it is an even greater tragedy that his patients are now without this great man to help in their times of need. I just today had an appointment scheduled & when I walked into the office waiting room, you could see the look of not only pain but also great loss and dismay on the faces of my fellow patients. It is not hard to see that without Dr. Cicuto the office has truly taken a turn for the worst. There were patients still waiting to be checked in by the desk staff at 2pm when their appointments were for 9am. Every patient in the office sounded as if at a wake speaking of the days when they were under the care of the best doctor that Pain Patients in Pittsburgh had ever had. Patients were expressing not only their horror at the doctor that is filling in, but also their fear of never being treated with the kindness & respect that we had all come to know and respect of Dr. Brian Cicuto. From what I have heard from the patients that had already had the experience of meeting the replacement doctor they have all made the same horrific comments of an unclean, unprofessional, unsympathetic, & rude man. Dr. Brian Cicuto you are missed and I hope that you are well & that our paths will cross again. Thank you for all you have done not only for me but also for all whose paths you have crossed
Dr. Cicuto is the most professional, intelligent, courteous, understanding and wonderful doctor that i have ever had the privledge of knowing. I was sad that he resigned at Centre Commons where I was his patient. No one will ever be able to fill his shoes!

DR CICUTO. IS A GREAT DOCTOR. I AM SO SORRY TO KNOW THAT HE LEFT THE CENTRE OFFICE. I LOVE HIM AS A DOCTOR. I AM HOPING THAT I CAN FOLLOW HIM. WHERE EVER HE MAY BE
BEFORE DR.CICUTO JOINED UPMC I WAS A PATIENT OF HIS AND THATS THE ONLY REASON I FOLLOWED HIM THERE,WHICH IS MANY YEARS AGO. NOW I FEEL LIKE A THING IN A FACTORY, ON THE ASSEMBLY LINE WITHOUT A HEART,BECAUSE HE TREATED YOU AS A HUMAN BEING.HE IS VERY CARING & COMPASSIONATE. I HAVE BEEN ON THE MEDICINE WHICH HAS BEEN WORKING FOR ME JUST FINE AND EVEN THOUGH I TOLD THE PEOPLE I SAW AT UPMC RECENTLY THEY CHANGED MY MEDICINE WHICH IS MAKING ME SICK.NOW IHAVE THE MOST EXCRUCIATING PAIN AGAIN. DR.CICUTO ACTUALLY LISTEN TO YOU AND NEVER WAS IN A HURRY TO LEAVE THE ROOM. I HAVE GONE THROUGH TWELVE MONTHS OF THE FIRST CHIMOTHERAPY, THIRTY SIX TREATMENTS OF RADIATION, THAN FIFTEEN MORE MONTHS OF CHIMOTHERAPY ETC. I HOPE THAT I WILL BE ABLE TO FIND OUR DEAR DR.CICUTO AGAIN SOON. WHAT A LOSS TO YOU UPMC THAT YOU LET HIM GO.I AM SURE ALL HIS PATIENTS MISS HIM AS MUCH AS I DO. GRATEFUL TO YOU ALWAYS DR.CICUTO
I have been a patient of Dr. Cicuto for many years. He has always taken time to find out what was going on in my life and with my health. I have chronic pain always, so doing anything physical is difficult, but Dr. Cicuto lets me know when he's proud of the activities that I try, and shows pleasure in my accompliments; whatever they may be. He is extremely caring and kind, and has a great sense of humor and charm. He has left UPMC Pain Clinic, but I plan on trying to find out where he might have gone. If he has left medicine here in Pittsburgh, we will all be losing a GREAT doctor!
Dr cicuto is the best Dr I have ever met! He helped me when no one else could or would. I wish I knew where he went and if anyone knows please let me know!!
I have been a long term patient of Dr. Cicuto. First began treatment with him while in Harmarville Rehab Facility. I have followed with him this long because of his exceptional patient care. Has worked with me to find the right medications and treatment to help with relief of my severe pain in my back and legs due to five back surgeries, the last being a fusion and bone graft. None of the surgeries were sucessful and I was left with failed back syndrome and severe pain.Dr Cicuto was the only doctor that took the time to work with me to get as much relief as possible. He truly cares for his patients well being and takes whatever time is needed with them. He has truly been a blessing in my case! I've been told he is away for a while and I'm praying to be able to continue with him. No one else could compare to him.
I have been a patient of Dr. Cicuto since he started practing at the Pain Clinic. Dr. Cicuto is one of the few doctor's out there that really cares about his patients. I wish him the best and hope he returns.
I have been a pt of his for quite a few years and he really is the most caring doctor that I have. I just came to my appt. And learned that he Is gone indefinately he will truly be missed if he doesn't return
This man really cares for the people he takes care of. You are treated not as a appointment, but as a person. He is wonderful. There should be more doctors with his professionalism. Others should only be like him. UPMC should be thankful they have him.
Dr Cicuto is caring, understanding and has alot of knowledge to share with his patients. If it wasn't for Dr. Cicuto I would still be in excruciating pain existing everyday instead of living everyday. He truly changed my life for the better.
I have been seeing Dr. Cicuto for almost 2 years and he is the best doctor I have ever seen. He is the first doctor that believed me I was in pain. He has taught me other methods of reducing my pain in addition to using meds. Although he is a great doctor, his staff is incompetent. They don't return phone calls even after leaving several messages about very important issues. They will not allow you to talk to the doctor even after giving you wrong information and I knew it was wrong information. They would not change my appointment so I could see him sooner to help my disability case. In fact, due to his staffs negligence, I was unable to receive a report I needed in time for my appeals hearing. This has caused me to lose my case and have to appeal for a second time. I would find a new doctor due to his staff if he wasn't the best doctor in the business.
After seeing two other doctors who were either arrogant or overprescribed I found this doctor. His knowledge is EXCELLENT, his bedside manner is EXCELLENT, and he actually believes and practices that there is more to pain management than writing a prescription. Highly recommended - although you'll wait months for your first appointment.
Dr. Cicuto is the greatest. He cares about your pain and how to treat it. I just wish I could get my scripts mailed directly instead of having to make an appointment.
