Just a note. This Dr. won't accept you as a patient if you've had even one previous vein procedure performed by a different doctor. Was basically given the bum's rush by the girl who answered the phone.

I had a disabling anal fissure for over 2 months and finally had it checked out. Dr. Schilperoort diagnosed it and recommended a lateral internal sphincterotomy to allow it to heal and likely keep it from recurring. Over several years previous to this occurrence, I had experienced less severe fissures that each healed within a week or two. This time was the most severe and it didn't want to heal on its own. The procedure went flawlessly and the fissure healed immediately. Now, after about 3 weeks, all seems normal again and the only side effect I've noticed in this short period of time is that it's slightly easier to pass gas. Too soon to know if it will keep it from recurring, but all I read about the results of this procedure is promising.
