Dr. Bryan Smith Hathorn, MD

I have never had a negative experience with a physician, until now. I received his after visit summary and it was completely unprofessional. It reads as if he was upset with me for some unknown reason and was an untrue representation of what my concerns were. I don't understand why or what his purpose for the degrading summary was other than to hurt me which he has successfully done.

Dr. Hathorn is a highly skilled and professionally trained physician but has a lot of heart for his patients. He saved my dad’s life and has taken the best care of his heart for many years!! Thanks to him for all that he has done...this is from a daughter getting the best news after an all day wait of hoping for the best news possible.

He was great. He made feel at ease. He made feel so comfortable. May God bless him and his whole household

In the middle of the night, after a long shift, he stayed and installed a stent in me after I suffered a heart attack.

He saved my partners life after he suffered a heart attack and stroke. And, he is well informed about eating properly, rare in the medical profession.

On first visit, very impressed that he sat down to talk with my husband and I to provide information about my diagnosis, answer questions we had, drew pictures to help me understand more (had heart tumor), lengthy appt., did not leave room until our questions answered, never felt like he was rushed. Highly recommend, knowledgeable cardiologist who cares about his patients, not sure why but did not feel like he was doctor for me, think I needed a more "warm and comforting" doctor to help me overcome fears of heart surgery. Never waited long for an appt. and very accommodating if I ran late, his staff called to reschedule my appt when he was detained in a procedure instead of having patients sit for hours waiting on the doctor to return like many doctors do, which I appreciated. Only minor complaint would be timeliness of nursing staff in returning calls but all of the office staff were always very nice and helpful.

He was the call doctor when I was admitted to OLOL and I could not have been blessed with a more capable and understanding doctor. He does not tell you what you WANT to hear, he tells you what you NEED to hear. My open heart surgery was more complicated than normal and resulted in cancer surgery at the same time. Dr. Hathorn came running -- and I mean that in a track and field manner -- when I had additional issues and numerous intensive care visits. You cannot find a more caring and knowledgeable cardiologist. I expect additional wait times for an appointment, and I have even experienced the necessity for a rescheduling. But I look at like this: he was giving another patient the same time and consideration and expertise that he gave me which might require more office and/or hospital time. All I know is, Dr. Hathorn has the knowledge, experience and skill to be one of the finest cardiologists I could have gotten. When he saves your life, you will know what I mean and you… will accept putting up with minor inconveniences.

I have a lot of confidence in Dr. Hathorn's abilities, but was extremely diappointed in his staff and my experience at Louisiana Cardiology Associates. After an hour long wait to see the Doctor, his staff was very unprofessional in acknowledging my extremely long wait and added insult to injury by providing a very impersonal condescening apology as I left the office. I understand being busy and falling behind on a schedule, but that was not the case. My wait was a result of the failure of his staff to do their jobs.

Unless you are looking for a rude doctor with an attitude, Dr. Hathorn is not recommended.
