Dr. Bryan R Mayol, MD

I have needed Dr. Mayol’s expertise twice in the last couple years. The first issue was snapped tendons in my hand. He quickly diagnosed and referred me to Dr. DiDonna (the best hand surgeon ever). The last issue was yesterday. Painful shoulder. Very little sleep because of this for several weeks. I didn’t even have to make a second appointment, which I assumed would be necessary. He gave me an injection right then. In less than 24 hours, I feel great! Dr. Mayol is the best!

Dr. Mayol is knowledgeable and personable. I read some of the negative reviews and could not believe they were about this doctor. I am assuming that the problems were with the patients and not the doctor. I have seen him ongoing about knee problems. He has been thorough and explained all medications well. He has been kind and his treatments have been successful. I appreciate how he listens well and encourages me to be in touch for future issues that will probably arise.

I looked at reviews before i visited dr mayol and im happy i dint act on the negative him and his staff was very caring and professional ive been to many docters who just tried to give me a shot and send me on my way but he dint thank god i went in with a positive attitude eventho i been in unbearable pain i got a positive reaction very very good man and i thank god he sent me to him now we can find out the problem with my leg

I was referred to Mayol for injuries as the result of an accident. The receptionist claimed we were late for my appointment when in fact I wasn't. Alisha the nurse was rude,condescending during intake and stated that mayol would only discuss one injury. Which hurts the most? She was rude and discourteous. Mayol was worse. He was said that I was late for my appointment and could only talk about one injury. Evaluation for my other injury would have be scheduled for a later date, or my appointment would need to be rescheduled. He was bad mannered, ill tempered stating his time was important. So is mine. Needless to say it was a terrible experience with any doctor. Ever. Avoid this POS.

I am not sure of the bad reviews that said he was arrogant and pompous. I found him to be not only very handsome, but he has a great bedside manner, warm, very down to earth and took the time to listen to me and explain things to me. I never felt like he was talking down to me or not believing my issues. He actually related with me because he is close to my age and has some of the same physical problems. I would absolutely recommend him. He referred me to physical therapy but told me if I felt like it wasn't helping, to come back to see him. He walked me out, gave me his card and shook my hand. It was a very pleasant experience. My only complaint was not with him, but IU Urgent Care should have just referred me to physical therapy instead of referring me to him. There wasn't much he could do for me but refer me to physical therapy. I will return if I have other problems or if PT does not help

Have been seeing Dr Mayol for over 2 years for various sports injuries and "getting old" issues. I have never found him to be anything but helpful, thorough and he always takes his time to explain his diagnosis....which, to date, has always been spot on. Ive never had an injury linger an unreasonable amount of time when under his care. Highly recommend!

I so wish I had seen these negative reviews prior to going to see Dr. Mayol. I unfortunately experienced firsthand the same issues that others encountered: He was very rude and dismissive of my shoulder issue, both before and after my X-ray. He berated the very good Occupational Therapist I was seeing who was concerned about my shoulder "catching" and who referred me to him. He would not listen to my concerns, and said it was nothing. Moreover, each time I flinched in pain, he told me to: "Stop it". Really?!?! I am a high level executive professional. I may not have a glamorous "sports injury", but I have a real issue which still continues several months after seeing Mayol, who said there was no problem. This man has no bedside manner, is very arrogant and does not listen to his patients. He made me feel like my Occupational Therapist and I were wasting his time. IU Health is usually much better than that. Find another doctor! I would give him a negative 10 star rating,… if that was an option.

Poor communication and unprofessional behavior on part of the staff and physician determined my evaluation. I will never step inside this practice again.

He didn't care about hearing my symptoms. Just wanted to get me out of the office and make sure to submit the billing. Really poor bedside manner.

Although while under doctor Mayol’s care, there was progress in my recovery, he tends to shut his patients down not allowing the patient to Verbalize their symptoms. I find this disrespectful and neglectful as a patient should be able to depend on the doctors office environment to be humble from check in to check out. A patient has the right to be heard, cared for, and referred as needed. It is discouraging when your doctor does not acknowledge previous reports (due to over talking the patient) then when the said report is brought up again, claim that it is a new report; clearly was not actively listening durning previous visits. And if you are a person with several troubling issues, do not seek care from Dr Mayal. However, if you have only one issue, you will be able to get a word in.
