Dr. Carol Ann Long, MD

Dr. Long is originally from Pennsylvania. She joined MAPA in 1988, after completing her pediatric residency at Children's Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. Since moving to Asheville she has tried to advocate for children's health issues through leadership in such organizations as the Buncombe County Medical Society, the Department of Pediatrics at Mission Hospital, the North Carolina Pediatric Society, and Access II Care, our local Medicaid Managed Care initiative. She cherishes her role as a pediatrician because it gives her the opportunity to work with children of all ages, abilities, and personalities, and to help nurture their health, their growth, and their development. Working at MAPA has been like coming home to a family of co-workers who share this, loves children, and has a concern for their welfare. On a personal level, she adopted an adorable girl from China in 2003. She is now experiencing the joys (and challenges) of being a single parent to this precious treasure.
