Dr. Charles H. Choe, MD

Years ago, I was sent to Dr. Choe from out of town for a second opinion concerning thyroid cancer. He was kind, engaged, knowledgeable and helpful. When I moved back to San Diego, I had zero reservations about seeing him again. A lot can change in a decade, and I saw a severely burnt out physician who wouldn't make eye contact, barely acknowledged my existence at all, and took a person al phone call during my neck ultrasound, completely leaving the room! This is beyond the pale and I don't tolerate such bald-faced disrespect for me. I never saw him again and cannot in good conscience recommend him to others anymore.

I do not recommend Dr Choe for Thyroid Cancer care and management. He has limited knowledge (not current), close-minded and not open to learning new treatment management for thyroid cancer. Find a better endocrinologist for thyroid cancer.

My wife has been seeing Dr. Choe for the 9 years following her brain surgery for her pituitary tumor. He has done a great job keeping her hormones regulated. Being a medical professional myself I appreciate his knowledge and care he has given my wife. You do need to book your appointment well in advance to be seen by him. What does that tell you?

Dr. Choe is nice. He listens, but doesn't necessarily hear you? His bed side manner is just ok. His knowledge is limited, and he seems to now want to think outside of the box. It takes a long time to get an appointment with him. His office staff are good and phone calls are returned in a timely manner. Overall I will be changing to a new doctor though. I'm not seeing aggressive enough treatment with my illness.
