Dr. Charles Daknis is one the co-founders of Spine and Pain centers of New York and New Jersey prior to this position he developed and directed the Interventional Pain Management program at St Lukes Hospital in Bethlehem Pennsylvania. He received his fellowship training at the world renowned Harvard University Brigham and Womens Hospital in Boston. Dr Daknis has been recognized for excellence throughout his training and career. After graduating Summa Cum Laude from St. Josephs University in Philadelphia he graduated in the top of his class at Drexel Universitys Hahnemann School of Medicine. While at Drexel he received the Nelson Neurosurgical award for excellence in the study of Neurosciences and was appointed as a delegate to the National Institutes of Health for Neuroscience research. Dr Daknis commitment to excellence is reflected in his quadruple board certification status. He one of only a few physicians to have board certification in Interventional Pain Management and not just …medical pain management. Dr Daknis recognizes that good patient outcomes require discipline and commitment to ongoing education and training. In this respect he has dedicated his career to lifelong education. He has developed considerable expertise from training around the country and around the world in minimally invasive, effective and safe spinal techniques. He has developed many techniques to effect the best outcomes for his patients. Many colleagues will seek out his care for themselves or their family when they are unable to get answers or results elsewhere. Dr. Daknis is a leader in spinal education. He is involved on a continuous basis with the North American Spine Society as well as the International Intervention Society(ISIS). He recently served on the North American Spine Societys Rehabilitation Interventional and Medical Spine Committee at the national level. His commitment to the best possible outcomes for his patients is also reflected in his ongoing education with the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians. Dr Daknis has taught many courses for physicians in the USA as well as abroad in the proper use of minimally invasive spinal procedures. He has directed many cadaver courses as well as lecture courses over his career and has been an invited guest lecturer and medical schools and residency programs as well as conferences at home and abroad. Dr Daknis is a published author in multiple peer reviewed journals. He has authored book chapters on pain management and the treatment of various painful disorders. Dr Daknis has a special interest in disorders of the cervical spine(neck). His research has focused on this interest. Dr. Daknis has a great interest in providing care to those who need it most and to helping the local community. He helped to develop a medical clinic in Haiti after the earthquake and supports Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Ocean and Monmouth counties.
