In a moment of crisis Dr. Kye was easy to reach by phone , very thorough in examining my vitals. I would strongly recommend to a friend or family
I went to Dr Kye upon the recommendation of my therapist. I have been seeing another psychiatrist prior to Dr Kye for 3 years and I felt I was getting worse instead of better. I was an emotional wreck and a total a mess. Dr. Kye to me did a miracle on my life. He changed my treatments and I feel alive, energetic with a big will to live and fight. Thank you, Dr Kye. He is awesome. Godsent!
After more than 10 years of being sent to different doctors and staying at several pricey treatment facilities, I finally met Dr Kye. He is a brilliant doctor who listens and gets straight to the point. He truly has helped me save my life. He is honest, caring and trustworthy. His knowledge and guidance over the past year and a half has helped me be able to have a life again. He only wanted to see me get better and healthier. Dr Kye is the only doctor who was ever able to help. He is amazing.
My 18-year-old daughter has Down syndrome, ADHD and sleep apnea. Since the age of 8, my daughter had been on multiple ADHD medications both singly and in combination with each other. We initially coordinated my daughter's treatment through the Hope Haven Down Syndrome Clinic in Jacksonville and then my daughter's local pediatrician. However, she continued to have significant problems with her ADHD and sleeping due, in part, to noncompliance with the use of her sleep mask. Over the years we were told to switch medications, add different medications and increase the overall amount of medication we were giving her. The medication was caused my daughter to become increasingly withdrawn from society, more involved in her imaginary world, less willing to show affection and more unhappy. So I called every psychiatrist and psychologist in my healthcare providerâs network. All but one of the doctors on the list told me that they did not treat "complex cases" like my daughter. I found one psychiatrist who claimed to be a "specialist" in treating persons with autism. My daughter saw this "specialist" for almost two years. The "specialist" increased the amount of medication my daughter was receiving to the point that she would spend entire days in her room, she was mad all the time and she imagined that she was being attacked by "monsters". The medication also caused my daughter's hands to shake and she stared into space all the time. When I told the "autism specialist" this, her reply was "well your daughter won't talk to me so I cannot treat her appropriately." It was then that I found about Dr Kye through the Gold Coast Down Syndrome Organization. My daughter has been seeing Dr Kye for a year and a half now. At our very first meeting Dr Kye explained how the medications that my daughter had been on for years were increasing her chances of developing Alzheimer's. SInce people with Down syndrome already have an increased risk of Alzheimer's this information was a HUGE concern for me. NONE of the other prescribing doctors had ever mentioned this very serious side effect. Dr Kye also explained that a chronic lack of sleep was probably part of the reason for my daughter's ADHD symptoms (Have you ever stayed up all night and then tried to do anything that requires focus? Try going without sleep for 17 years and see how well you do.) Since starting to see Dr Kye, my daughter is back to the wonderful person she used to be. She is more social, happy, loving and a pleasure to be around. She no longer hides in her room for days on end or is chased by imaginary monsters. She will look at people when they talk to her, and she will try to engage in short conversations. She is also using her sleep mask for several hours each night without someone having to sit in her room - a huge improvement as a result of strategies suggested by Dr Kye. Dr Kye is not afraid to try new things especially when the old ones are definitely not working. He will explain to you why he recommends a medication or the discontinuation of a medication, and he will let you know what side-effects you might see and what the risks of taking the medication are. I love that in a doctor. Dr Kye will communicate with patients after hours to make sure that they have all of the information they need and to make sure that he (Dr Kye) has all the information he needs to provide the best care he can give.
Over the last two decades my son has seen many psychiatrists. Dr. Kye has had the greatest positive impact on his stability and his life. My son had 4 years of stability under Dr. Kye's care, until he left the area. Shortly after returning to FL 2 years ago, my son was in the middle of a major psychotic episode, refusing to return to Community Mental Health. At the family's request, Dr. Kye stepped in, going to great lengths to engage my psychotic son, meeting outside of the office, talking over food, and driving him safely back to his halfway house. Dr. Kye intervened with the sheriff's office to see Jared place for treatment rather than jailed or left on the streets, and consulted with the attending psychiatrist at the hospital to ensure an effective medication regime. Dr. Kye literally saved my son's life. Dr. Kye explains the diagnosis, the brain research, and the reasoning for the med regime he chooses, which can be a bit overwhelming. He knows the meds, gets to know his patients, works with families, and does his best to help people live life to their fullest. Looking for warm and fuzzy - he isn't it. Looking for a knowledgeable, caring psychiatrist who will make a difference? Call Dr. Kye.
After many doctors and many drugs prescribed , we were at the end of our rope. Our daughter was acting irrationally and we felt that we could not help her. One of our friends was seeing a therapist who highly recommended Dr. Kye. He spent 2 hours with her asking all kinds of questions. He let us know that she was misdiagnosed for the entire time. Within a matter of 4 - 5 days after weaning her off the drugs that was driving her irritability to the extreme that it did and giving us literature on what was really going on with her, there was a marketable difference in her demeanor. Just recently we noticed her sleep patterns were affected by her remaining drugs that she's been weaning off as well. She was sleeping more hours than she was awake. He lessened the dosage and the next day she was a new person. We have our daughter back thanks to him. We highly recommend him and could not see a future for my daughter without him.
I met Dr. Kye and remarked the same things that were iterated by many other patients who rated him highly. He is bright, enthusiastic and burns the midnight candle for his patients. However, under Dr. Kye's regimen, I gained 52 pounds of weight, lost my hair, went through severe withdrawal when he discontinued me off of a medication cold turkey, and although I have found a much better psychiatrist in the Florida area who was honest about what meds can and cannot do, I cannot lose the weight. Dr. Kye cost me my youth, and while he says he is sympathetic to woman's issues, he will coerce you into taking medications which negate his sympathy. I wish I had never met this man. He cost me my youth, and while I have much to be thankful for, I will never forgive him for his negligence and serious ego. No amount of fancy letters or education should give someone the license to play god. And, while I see so many great recommendations on his profile here, I will say that he asked me write a positive review and prided his reputation! What kind of doctor has to hang his hat on his online doctor's review? I've never met another doctor in my life who did this. All I can say is that my depression got worse when I was under this man's care, he was obsessed with me and his patients being bipolar and my previously amazing body has never returned ever since he messed up my hormones with his heavy handed use of medications with no regard for my self esteem. Steer clear and find someone way more humble.
This is the perfect week to write a review for Dr. Kye with it being Thanksgiving yesterday. I am so very thankful that I went to see him. On a side note, my daughter saw him approximately 8 years ago after developing Trichotillomania (OCD which involved recurrent, irresistible urges to pulling hair ). After seeing numerous doctors with her a friend referred me to Dr. Kye. After one visit of 1.5 hours he prescribed 1 med and she was pull free. Her hair was so bad from a year of pulling and now at almost 21 she has gorgeous long hair. She continues to be pull free. My former husband and I had a discussion about my illness of fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue. He reminded me how much luck our daughter had with Dr. Kye. I really didn't think he was the type of Dr. that could help with these kinds of illnesses. Could a psychiatrist help me with this?? I was on 9 meds up to one point with no relief. Dr's would look at me after seeing close to 20 different ones in Palm Beach and say "I'm sorry we don't know what to do for you." they would actually tell me to exercise it would give me more energy. I could barely get out of bed and shower and they wanted me to exercise.?? I spent the last 10 years working out at the gym. It was my passion. They all knew that. If I could work out, didn't they think I would? They never listened. My depression 4 weeks ago had got so bad and my extreme fatigue that I really didn't know how I was going to continue to go to work each day and help run my other business with my husband. I didn't want to get out of bed. My social life was down to nothing. I basically went to work and came home. That was the extend of my life at 50. I said to myself "what would my life be like in 2 year, 4 years , when my kids had kids???? " I went to see Dr. Kye not even 3 weeks ago. He sat and listened and mostly asked ALOT of questions. He knew I had not had a dream in almost 5 years. That meant I wasn't going into REM sleep which is a deep sleep. This made the fatigue overwhelming to say the least. The med I was on when I was originally diagnosed actually made me worse. Dr. Kye was able to find the perfect couple meds for me , in a low dose. He told me to give it a couple months. It only took a couple weeks. I'm actually feeling 70 percent better after less than 3 weeks. I'm not running marathons BUT I have been able to stay up past 8 pm and do things after work with friends, hit the mall which I haven't done in years and don't have sensory issues nearly as bad, and not muscle/joint pain nearly as much and will begin a workout routine again soon. This is something I thought would never happen. I really appreciate what Dr. Kye has done for me and would HIGHLY recommend anyone seeing him that needs help in anyway. He is a unique, caring doctor and highly intelligent.
Dr. Kye is a brilliant doctor and an amazingly kind, caring and humble person. My son has struggled with multiple neurological issues since birth. Once he reached the teen years, his pharmacological care became critical and extremely complicated. Dr. Kye changed all of his medications, gave us hope for our son's future, and renewed our belief in miracles.
We were referred to Dr. Kye at a time in my son's life that hospitalization was the only avenue not exhausted and the likely next step. Our first appointment w/ Dr. Kye was both impressive and overwhelming with detailed questions never asked from other physicians or educators. After years of misdiagnosing, dating back to elementary school, my son was accurately diagnosed and is now on a successful management plan. He is living on his own and thriving. I have to comment on Dr. Kye's style because of comments made in a few reviews. Dr. Kye is a frank, pointed and a brilliant doctor. He doesn't waste your time (his) or run up the meter (read dollars). He explains his diagnosis with supporting graphs and articles. He doesn't over or under-prescribe medications and monitors closely. His office manager is equally impressive. Appointments are prompt and she ensures the doctor calls you back same day. She's also patient and supportive with providing information for insurance filing purposes which we all know can be unnecessarily burdensome at times. In short, if you want to be coddled and swirl, see another physician. If you want results - see Dr. Kye. My son I drive ~2 hours for appointments and would travel further. Dr. Kye saved my son's life and frankly mine too because I can't image life without him. My son will tell you the same. In fact, he did, in his own separate review.
When I first came to Dr Kye .... I was mentally not doing well and I was on so many medications from a previous doctor.... Dr Kye saw me for an hour ....we talked and went over my medications..... His knowledge is so unbelievably impressive...... That the medications I was taking was doing me more harm then good.... His evaluation of me the medications that I should be taking ..... Well I trusted in him to make those nessasary discussion in switching my meds...... He always asked how I'm feeling on them if there are any changes I don't like he notices differences in my moods my behaviors..... He's very intune with who I am mentally and notices differences that need to be changed...... He saved me from a life of mental illness and that can be balanced with medications......
Dr. Kye was recommended to us by Children's Hospital Boston (Boston Children's as it's often called) and Physicians at Harvard Medical School. After being in Boston for an extended period to treat a rare pain condition, Dr. Kye began the follow-up treatment after we came back home. Working with Harvard Medical School Doctors, as well as departments at Boston Children's, a pain management plan was established and my child now has a life again and is flourishing. Highly recommend!
Dr. Kye is the BEST psychiatrist I have ever had in my life and I have probably seen about 10. The past 10 Doctors were just pill pushers and didn't seem to care about me. They had me on about 15 of the wrong kind of meds. Dr. Kye is determined to help heal you. It did take 1 year to get me where I am today, but 1 year is very fast compared to the past 5 1/2 years and 10 Doctors and many trips to the ER , as I suffered with depression and anxiety. He admits that I am the toughest case that he has ever experienced , but he was still determined and studied my case. Today I am 99.9% better and that is because he cares and he updates his studies daily. The .1% is just because I'm aging. LOL . Unfortunately he can't stop that.
I was referred to Dr. Kyle after an extremely troubling period in my life. My symptoms were so severe that hospitalization was being considered. I felt stuck, helpless, and unable to verbalize what was happening. My first visit to Dr. Kye was incredible. His assessment was tremendously detailed and thorough. He asked questions that I had longed to be asked but did not have to capacity to explain. As someone who was against using medication unless absolutely necessary Dr. Kyle explained clearly and consciscely the purpose and plan for treatment. He is extremely intelligent and has a scientific mind. I can absolutely understand why some might find it overwhelming at times but putting my trust in him was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Dr. Kye is extremely straight forward, honest, and doesn't waste time. I can understand for some why this might be difficult. For me personally, it was exactly what I needed at this very dark time in my life. There isn't a one size fits all when it comes to treatment and Dr. Kye was very upfront about his strengths and limitations. When it comes to results, I can say now, 2.5 years later from my first visit that my quality of life is remarkably different, where I always imagined it could be, and continues to improve. Dr. Kye gave me answers to questions I have asked for as long as I can remember. Thank you Dr. Kye and Fernanda. You saved my life.
I've seen about 10 different doctors and most wanted to put me on some sort of SSRI-anti depressant. They seemed to work for while and then stop or cause the issues to multiply. I went to see Dr. Kye when I was at my lowest low- and I don't mean depressed. I was so irritable and angry I hated myself. I was referred to Dr. Kye by my psychologist. I think it was good that she gave me a bit of a disclaimer first. She told me that he's a fast talker and I might not understand everything he says since he speak in "Dr. language" frequently. I think it's been about 5 years now I've been seeing Dr. Kye and I whole heartily recommend him. I feel like there are several things you should know before you go besides his fast talking Dr. language. I was absolutely against taking meds, especially a lot of them. I gave him a bit of a hard time, on more than one occasion. A couple times I felt so normal I thought I didn't need my meds anymore. He allowed me (even encouraged me) to wean off them. I waited until the withdrawals went away (I wanted to be certain that's not why I was acting crazy). I spent quite a bit of time convincing myself I didn't need meds. He made sure I was safe while off my meds. Checking in on me and never once tried to talk me into going back to see him. It was like he just waited for my call when I hit rock bottom...again! Dr. Kye knew I would, even warned me but I insisted. I read these reviews and I hear so much truth about his gifted intelligence, it's true. His arrogance, also a bit true. His fast talking Dr. language, also very true. I think it might be hard for people to be extremely intelligent and not be a little arrogant. He is definitely a "different" type of doctor. I'm writing this review because if you're reading this there's a chance you might be at or near your lowest low and looking for a qualified doctor. I'd be willing to bet you're looking for different. Einstein said "Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." Try different, get better. Dr. Kye might not get it right the first time but he won't stop trying until he does. He genuinely cares and loves his job.
Dr Kye was a lifesaver for us. Our daughter was having serious issues, turns out she has tendencies to bipolar. Dr. Kye got her on a series of medications that have really turned her life around. We are seriously thankful he was recommended to us. Now, Dr. Kye, is a quirky guy but one of the most knowledgeable about managing medications we met in our search for help.
Dr Kye has given my the tools that allowed me to change my life. Today I have a life beyond my dreams and continue to grow into the person that I always strived to be. Dr. Kye and his staff are available, engaged, and focused on the best for me as their patient. My concerns and/or questions are always addressed, my opinions and experiences count, and my well being is paramount. I highly recommend him as the best choice in this field.
I had been "mis diagnosed" by another local Dr and luckily made my way to Dr. Kye for help. He was "my saving grace".....was in a "tough time" before meeting with him. He quickly got me feeling better and for the last 3 years I have felt better each day. Many thanks to his efforts and knowledge.
I consulted two lawyers after I left his care. Not much more to say other than he is an egomaniac and med heavy. Steer clear.
I have been a long time patient of Dr Kye's. He has worked with me through several troubling job situations and career changes including changes in income. He was very gracious working with me pro bono during a couple of years off and on where insurance was unavailable to me or my income was so low just basic bills were the most I could afford. Beyond that, Dr Kye works closely with me to diagnosis exactly what's going on to insure the best mental care for me.
Dr. Kye is phenomenal!! He is very intelligent and well educated which is extremely important in his profession. Dr. Kye explains everything to you and uses his knowledge to back it up and not just hypothesizes. He is truly vested in his patients well being. We were at a complete loss prior to meeting Dr. Kye. He turned our lives around and was the difference in the child we have today. He is more than a 5 star doctor - he is a hero in our lives and can/does help many.
Having been diagnosed with Bipolar almost two decades ago, I have encountered a few doctors. I will say I feel fortunate to be under Dr. Kye's care again for the past 9 months. Previously while living in the county I saw him regularly between 2004 and 2008. He has always been personable and human toward me without sacrificing professionalism. He tells me the truth about my condition in scientific and layman's terms. Most recently when struggling to "come back" from a manic episode Dr. Kye was kind enough to personally take me to pick up dinner and drive me back to where I was living. He was concerned about me enough to take an extra interest, and his time, to make sure I was ok. (I had recently come out of the hospital). I just mean to convey that this man cares. And he is way above the bar when it comes to expertise in his field as far as I can tell.
I didn't like Dr. Kye when I first met him for an appointment for my then 10 year old daughter. However I wasn't there to make friends- I was there to meet with a doc who would accurately diagnose my daughter. We continued to see him and he got things right. Now that we have gotten to know him and understand his social skills (or lack there of) we have actually come to enjoy our visits with him. He talks way above our level and we just nod our heads and giggle but we are confident that diagnostically he knows what he is talking about.
A very arrogant man and does not judiciously use psych meds. He clobbered me with so many of them and told me that the side effects were not of his concern. Being a woman and gaining 20 pounds on a med is not acceptable, and I am not overreacting when I ask for a switch. Do not be fooled by his charm.
This guy likes to pump people full of medicines and uses his intellectual wit to coerce you into trusting his big ego. Do not trust!
Dr KYE is brilliant and knows the brain like no other Psychiatrist. This helps him be the best at treating patients.
Dr K was a very rude and cruel doctor. Yelling at my sister, telling her to hush when she tried talking to him about how she was feeling and what she was feeling. In just a short time we saw several patients he was rude to. Also heard from merchants around his office about how he would come down stairs after patients screaming and yelling at them. His license should be taken away. Would tell everyone to run from this doctor.
He is without a doubt one of the most dangerous doctors you have ever met. I was fooled by his intelligence and charm (he brags about his credentials) and took all of the meds that he prescribed. I ended up gaining 45 pounds, having horrible acne, lost my self esteem and he convinced me that I had an eating disorder even though the psychotropic he put me on is known to cause diabetes. He also said several inappropriate things. I agree, he seems to not like women for some reason. When I found another psychiatrist after him, he told me that it was absolutely dangerous what Kye had done to me. On 7 medications during my tenure with him. The new psychiatrist told me that the interactions between all of these meds were potentially lethal. Kye's response to this was denial even though my new doctor has superior credentials to Kye and does not brag about them. I can't say that he is a horrible doctor, because he may help some people, but this man almost ruined by life and I was under a spell until thankfully I woke up. He also ignored my entire trauma history and tried to medicate the crap out of me instead of listen to common sense. He brainwashed my entire family too, with his medical mumbo jumbo. Sad chapter of my life, thankfully over.
Dr. Kye saved our son's life. After suffering his whole school career due to undiagnosed Autism (Asperger's Syndrome), our son, at age 15, turned to recreational drugs to escape the feeling of constantly being overwhelmed. By age 16, his personality had changed so much that he was out of reach for us. We were about to lose him to the streets. An acquaintance recommended to see Dr. Kye, because he is a brilliant diagnostician. Dr. Kye not only diagnosed our son, but also medicated him, first, to stabilize his condition, and then, to help him get back his innate mental capacity. In addition, Dr. Kye sent our son to an excellent social skills group, which helped him tremendously to improve socially. We are sure that our son would not have been able to recover without the treatment he received from Dr. Kye. Today, our son is even exceeding his own and our expectations regarding his social adjustment and academic achievements.
Insensitive, arrogant, disrespectful, innapropriate , unable to deal with stressful situations. The antithesis of therapeutic.
excellent diagnostician. saw 5 dr. before DR Kye got the right dx and meds
This doctor is the most kind, efficient, helpful man around. He did all he could to help our adult daughter receive the care she desperately needed. We thank him so much for his time and caring attitude.
Dr. Kye is not your average doctor. He is able to see through the B.S. and get to the root of the problem. Without Dr. Kye's help I would not be where I am today. He is not the type of doctor who hold your hand and tell you it is all going to be ok instead he will tell you what you need to hear even though it may not be what you want to hear. If you listen to what he says and put away your own ego you will get to the root of the problem and be able to move forward with your life. I am so glad I found Dr. Kye.
Best help ever. Finally someone understood
I have been struggling with certain issues for years now, since I was a child. I started seeing a doctor when I was 15. Before Dr. Kye I was bouncing around medications and nothing seemed to help. I was with certain doctors for months but they just could not figure it out. I started to feel like I was a test subject for medications. However, the FIRST time I ever saw Dr. Kye, he pin-pointed exactly what the problem was, actually paying attention to my behavior, not exactly what my immediate answer to a question was. He also communicates with your family, not just yourself, if that is something you agree to. Ever since then I have been able to focus, sleep, and just overall feel better, and without having to constantly switch up my medications. I can honestly say Dr. Kye helped me more than any other doctor I have seen.
My most memorable time with Dr.Kye was reallizing how brilliant this physician is. His knowledge in this field of phychiatry is amazing. He was warm helpful and did his very best for both of my sons. As a result they are both wel adjusted young adults with families of their own now. I would highly recommend him to diagnos as well as treat any person who needs his help. My boys were children when he saw them. I think that even adults would benefit his care. 5 Star review.
When I met Dr. Kye nearly 10 years ago, I was in a dark place. During our initial appointment he said, "I can get you better." It was surprising yet somewhat reassuring to be met with this honest confidence. I finally felt some hope. Like, "maybe he's right and it is possible not to feel like this." After leaving my appointments with Dr. Kye, I would take that hope with me and just try until eventually that hope became my own and I felt strength. Dr. Kye is intense Dr. Kye is confident Dr. Kye is unique Dr. Kye is dependable I want all those qualities in the doctor overseeing my mental health, but most importantly I want someone to help me feel better. I trust Dr. Kye wholeheartedly. He saved my life. <3
I met Dr. Kye after suffering a mental breakdown due to what I thought was stress. He came highly recommended to me from another family member who also had positive results with him. It turned out that it was more than that. Upon meeting him, I felt at ease & safe since he was so knowledgeable. He impressed me with the fact that he was unwilling to just start overmedicating all of my symptoms. Dr. Kye has changed the quality of my life. I am forever grateful for his care & continue to see him today.
There's only one way to describe Dr. Kye - BRILLIANT! He is unlike any doctor I have ever met. I have been seeing psychiatrists since my teens on and off for depression and anxiety. No doctor could ever pin point the right medication and whatever I was dealing with would always inevitably come back. I went to Dr. Kye with my husband who was experiencing some non-characteristic depression that wound up just being situational. Dr. Kye started asking me questions about myself, questions no doctor has ever asked before. It felt like a lightbulb going on. Within 30 minutes he said I think you're bi-polar and that's why none of these treatments have ever worked on you. He literally saved my marriage because I simply could not deal with all of the things going on in our life and my husband could not handle me and my roller coaster behavior. Dr. Kye got me on the right treatment plan and I am content, healthy, and at a perfect weight too. I am so much more at peace with myself and my husband has never been more thankful to any one person before. My husband literally said to me one day, "I love Dr. Kye. He saved our marriage." In combination with my meds, I am working with a social worker that helps me with behavioral techniques. I am a better person than I have ever been and I honestly think Dr. Kye is one of the most important people I have ever met. Thank you Dr. Kye if you ever read this.
I have been under the care of Dr. Christopher Kye for ten years. I was introduced to him after a short stay in a mental institution for a suicide attempt. Dr. Kye diagnosed me as Bi-Polar, put me on a medication plan, today I am living a normal life. I still and will continue to see him not only as a doctor but a friend. I was very "Lucky" to have found him.
A well-intentioned doctor gone wrong. His ego is massive and in a field that is pretty much contrived, you would be doing yourself a disservice if you set foot into his office. Under his regimen I was on so many medications that I could not see straight and he never bothered to ask me about my family trauma. Bipolar is a catch-all diagnosis, with little proof. We have no idea how the brain works, but this man would use his laurels to argue otherwise. DO NOT GET BRAINWASHED!!!!
Strong knowledge base in medicine, however, has very poor social skills. Doesn't have his patients' interests in mind, but his own ego. On the plus side, friendly and courteous staff.
I took my 21 year old daughter to Dr. Kye, after a years of psychiatric problems, an eating disorder, and addiction to alcohol and drugs, After six months of treatment with him, she has been alcohol and drug free. Her weight is stable for the first time in years, and she has hope and plans for the future. She now understands her bipolar disease and the importance of medication. Dr. Kye is a great psychiatrist, who I fully recommend.
There are no words to adequately describe the gratitude I have for how Dr Key helped my son. So let me describe where we came from and where we ended up. Around the time my son became a teenager we realized that something was wrong. He was never a trouble child in the sense of getting into mischief or into any trouble at school in fact he was very quiet. But he did seem more than just quiet. He seemed down almost on the verge of depressed. The reason we felt this way was that it seemed all my son wanted to do was sleep. There were many times when he slept for 12 to 14 hours strait but still seemed very sleepy. We thought we need some medical help so we took him to a psychiatrists. Over the course of the next 14 years my son was in and out of several different psychiatrists and psychologists offices. We were given many different medications, opinions and diagnoses that were believed to be the cause of his problems. It was thought my son was ADD and treatment was given for it. One doctor even told us the only problem my son has is an attitude problem. But nothing that was said or done or given changed his overly quiet manor or sleeping behavior. For a while we even gave up going to doctors. My son never felt as if heâs being helped and it became very hard to trust since nothing they said or did helped. I canât tell you how difficult it was for us to be going from doctor to doctor and feeling as if no one can find what the trouble is and no one can help. I think as a parent itâs the most frustrating, painful and helpless feeling a parent can have. Then a friend and I were talking and she told me about Dr. Kye. As much as we hesitated, she believed you he was different. So with hesitation and with trepidation we came to Dr Kye. He came on like gangbusters. He didnât cuddle my son or me. He asked a lot of questions that no one else did. He focused in on my son. He saw the person, the patient and unknown to me at the time, he fought for him. Oh, there were times I questioned him, and let my feelings known. Remember Iâd been through enough guessing games with other doctors, and had a hard time trusting any doctor. But not once did he stop his focus on my son. Not once did he feel that he needed to indulge or pamper in order to help him. He just focused in on the problem and worked to fix it. With his focus on my son, on his history and symptoms, he recognized what was going on. He determined that my son has a sleeping disorder. Once the sleeping disorder was corrected, he found other problems my son had. Not any of the doctors weâd been to before realize that the sleeping disorder prevented any real diagnosis on my son. He corrected the sleeping disorder first then worked on the rest. The most amazing thing is that as my husband and I raised our son, because of his disorder we didnât even know who my son is. This help he received from Dr. Kye, gave my son a chance to be who he is and us a chance to discover the real person he is. I thank Dr. Kye for all he did for my son. I thank him for his total focus on the person and recognizing what was needed to be the man he has become since he came into Dr. Kyeâs care. My husband and I and the rest of the family will forever be grateful for his help and care.
When I went to see Dr. Kye he asked me a few brief questions and just flat out said "you are bipolar and these are the medications we are going to put you on". I was shocked at first, but I figured he knew what he was doing. I would go back for a check-up appointment every few weeks and every single time my medication profile was completely changed. It got to the point where he had me on 10 different medications for bipolar disorder, one being Lithium. Not only did I become much more depressed, I started breaking out with postules all over my face and a rash on my arms and legs. I have never had a problem with acne so I had no idea what to do. I called him and went in for an appointment and when I showed him my face and rash he honestly did not find it to be a big deal and made it seem as if it wasn't from the medication. He even told me the rash was from being in the sun (which was not the case). I went home and started researching Lithium side effects and I came across pages and pages of people with these problems. I finally realized it was absolutely ridiculous to be on this many medications just because a doctor thought it was right, especially when I was having the extreme side effects of all of the medications. Not only was my new psychiatrist astonished at all of the medications I was on, but so were three other doctors. They could not believe that as a 22 year old girl he had me on Lithium, never mind the other 9 medications. I am now only on Lamictal and a mood stabilizer, and I have never felt better. He may help some people, but I truly felt like I spent my senior year in college as a medical experiment.
I have been a patient of Dr Kyes for more than 10 years. He is kind, understanding, and well respected in his field. He has had a profound impact on my life. He must be psychic because he has an extraordinary ability to accurately predict a number of events in my life. He is up-to-date on the latest research and able to justify and articulate reasons for patients individualized treatment plans based on the latest medial research. He has been able to accurately pin-point my strengths and weaknesses, which in turn helped me to achieve great things in my professional and personal life. I highly recommend him.
Dr. Kye was the only Dr. that finaly got my meds right. I have seen about 10 other physicitist. Dr. Kye was very through in diagosing my condition. He is very straight forward and gets down to what is really going on. He tells it like it is and I liked that. I would recommend him to anyone. He;s a great Dr.
For 12 years I walked around with a diagnosis of depression. After weaning myself off of antidepressants and hitting a brick wall of problems, unrelated to depression, I was referred to Dr. Kye. After talking to me for 30 minutes, he told me I had Asperger's and was most likely bipolar. Since I started seeing him a year ago, I'm an entirely different person. Some people think he's rude, arrogant, or ignores his patients, but he's just swamped. His brain is filled with so much stuff that things slip. He's very much an absent minded genius.
Dr. Kye is wonderful at his profession. Very intelligent and great at diagnosing the patient. Very fortunate that I found him.
DR.KYE HAS TREATED MY BIPOLAR HUSBAND FOR MANY YEARS AND TRUELY SAVED HIS LIFE. HE NOW TREATS MY DAUGHTER WHO ALSO IS BIPOLAR AND HAS EPILEPSY . HE STABLIZED HER IN 2 VISITS AND HE REALLY PUT ALOT OF THOUGHT INTO HER MED PROFILE. HE TAKES ALOT OF TIME TO TALK TO THE PATIENTS AND FAMILIES TO GET THE PROPER DIAGNOSIS ,INSTEAD OF THROWING THE USUAL MEDS AT YOU THAT OTHER DRS DO. WE'VE TRIED ALOT OF THE SO CALLED "BEST DR'S AROUND THIS AREA" AND THEY ARE A JOKE. DR. KYE IS THE ONLY ONE TO SEE.HE HAS ONE SECRETARY WHO IS SO NICE AND ALWAYS HELPFUL. HE WILL RETURN PHONE CALLS IN EMERGENCY.... HE IS ALWAYS THERE FOR YOU!!!!!!!! I CANT THANK HIM ENOUGH FOR CARING....IVE TRUELY NEVER MET ANOTHER DR.LIKE HIM BEFORE
I am 61 years old and have been a psychiatric consumer since childhood. I am bright and talented but have spent a great deal of my life suffering from mental torment. My symptoms baffled and frustrated psychiatrists because my mental illness didn't fall into a category. After my last psychiatrist retired I saw Dr. Kye. He is hyper focused and listens without judgement. He has a genius knowledge of the workings of the brain. By the use of metaphor in the most creative manner, he explains the complexities of the brain so that anyone not working in the profession is able to understand what he is saying. It took me all this time to finally find a doctor who was able to explain to me which part of my brain was causing my odd/quirky behavior. I went through years of self loathing due to being laughed at and not understood. This created depression and anxiety. I can now like myself, and embrace my aspires traits. One is most fortunate to come in contact with this brilliant and compassionate doctor.
Brilliant! Explodes with brilliance and a determination to solve the condition at hand. From a comparison standpoint, I have never worked with a doctor who digs so deep to find a solution. I have suffered with an ailment for over twenty (20) years and treated with several doctors who could not find the answer. After ONE appointment with Dr. Kye he found a solution with a simple medication that resolved my problem. I then referred a family member where he did the same. I will continue to recommend friends and family to Dr. Kye. A seriously incredible provider.
Dr. Kye cares for my 8 yr old who had been misdiagnosed for 3 years. He immediately identified the root cause of the her "problem" and has been working with us (now 6 months) to tweek and tune her medications. I have a different child; she is happy & thriving. My daughter & I are extremely grateful and pleased to be working with a Dr. that actually listens to the problem and address the CAUSE not the by product reactions of our issues.
DR KYE HAS HELPED ALL THREE OF MY CHILDREN . HIS DIAGNOSIS HAS BEEN RIGHT ON AND HIS TREATMENT PLAN HAS BEEN ACCURATE . OUR FIRST DAUGHTER NOW 21 WAS IN CRISIS WHEN WE WERE REFERRED TO HIM THREE YEARS AGO. HE PINPOINTED THE PROBLEM IMMEDIATELY ,WHEREAS HER PEDIATRICIAN ALONG WITH OTHER PROFFESSIONALS HAD IT ALL WRONG!. WE HAD TO TAKE OUR OTHER DAUGHTER TO HIM FOR CONCENTRATION/ SLEEPING ANXIETY ISSUES AGE 16 AND WITHIN TWO VISITS HAS BROUGHT HER BACK TO FEELING HELPED AND ON HER WAY TO FUNCTIONING AGAIN . OUR SON 19 WITH ASPERGERS WAS GREATLY ENCOURAGED WITH THE HELP THE DR OFFERED.. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS SPECIALIST TO ANYONE WHO IS LOOKING FOR AN EXPERT IN DEALING WITH BRAIN/EMOTIOAL ISSUES ETC AND THANK YOU DOC FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK AND DEDICATION TO THIS FIELD OF MEDICINE!!!!! :)
I have gone to numerous Drs, Dr. Keye is by far the best, he is on top of everything and overly concerned abut hit patients ,,, He is a 10 in my book, at thr age of 30 i was a self made millionaire, at 35 I had a substance abuse problem and was about to lose it all, one year with Chris I was back on my feet and made ten fold what I lost, He will tell you like it is, he is very perceptive and accurate, so if you want the best you just found Him.
I really don't know where I would be today without Dr.Kye's help. He is one of the very rare doctors that actually care about his patients. You can tell that he actually loves what he does. He is not dismissive, he is highly intellgent and real...I hope he never retires because I feel I would be S.O.L!!!!
Dr. Kye is truly an amazing doctor. I have had nothing but pleasant experiences with him. He is caring, compassionate and dedicated. I came to him as a high-risk patient and now I'm living a normal productive life. He has been a blessing to me and my family. I would recommend him to anyone. Also, I don't know of many doctor's that give their cell phone out for emergencies.I feel very safe knowing I can reach out to him.
Which Dr did you guys see? Cause the Dr Kye i saw was uncaring, insensitive and most certainly not a genius. 5 years of trial and error with 8 different antipsychotics, mood-stabilizers, antidepressants, and stimulants in several combinations, none of which worked. He didn't care, he had no bed side manners and he was very rude, arrogant and condescending. He had no idea what he was doing, he'd constantly change his tactics because his prognosises were never right. He didn't explain things and he never clearly answered questions. After 5 years he still forgot my name once and awhile and would have to look at my file. He cause more problems than he fixed. by ineffectively attempting to treat my Bi-polar he put me on several medications that cause weight gain. i rapidly gained roughly 40lbs (his reason for overlooking the weight gain, was because the way he saw it, as long as i wasn't depressed the weight gain wasn't an issue, clearly he doesn't know women very well, gaining 40lbs made me extremely depressed and drastically lowered my self esteem!)The next psychiatrist i saw, who is my current dr, was very concerned about my weight gain and wanted to deal with it immediately b/c it was very unhealthy and emotionally damaging. She had a theory and ran a few simple test and discovered that i had become insulin resistent as a result of the meds i had been on, and that it not only caused my "inevitable" weight gain but also caused severe health risks, if i had not gone to Dr Star i more than likely would have become diabetic. She could not believe that a Dr who perscribed those kinds of med would never check for the severe risks that come with it. He also one time pulled me off of 2 drugs at the same time, and he didn't wean me off them, he just told me to stop taking them, needless to say the next day i had a major psychotic episode, which resulted with me being put back on both meds immediately. After 5 years of getting it wrong time after time his response was "you're just f****d up." how very professional of him. There is something terribly wrong when a doctor admits he is out of ideas and is just going to go back and try the failed ones again. I would never recommend Dr. Kye to anyone.
I, in the beginning, wasn't sure he was diagnosing me right, but after a few visits he proved to be right on the mark. I am doing a lot better thanks to Dr. Kye. I want to let people who go for a first visit to just give it some time. I am in a really good place in my life right now and it just took a little faith and help. :)
He cares about my child's health and will do everything in his power to help her get well, including sending her to other psychiatrists. He will talk to me between visits, about our concerns. He has a great personality. His office manager is also wonderful.
Dr Kye was recommended to me by a friend when my wife developed anxiety and paranoia. As a physician I am very critical of physicians. Dr. Kye performed a thorough history and physical, explained her condition in detail and initiated a treatment which improved and eventually resolved her symptoms. We have two young girls and my practice requires significant time away from home, therfore, very pleased with our results. Unfortunately, my wife decided to discontinue the medication and had a relapse with 2 months. Dr. Kye predicted this would occur. Within one day of contact my wife was re-evaluated and treatment initiated. Dr. Kye stayed late on a subsequent visit to accomidate our schedule. If you want a well trained, compasionate, confident(not arrogant...some people may not be able to differentiate) psychiatrist, I highly recommend Dr. Kye.In addition...my wife was not diagnosed bipolar.
After losing my jobs, scholarship, long-term relationship, and many friends I was referred to Dr. Kye through a psychiatrist acquaintance. Dr. Kye diagnosed my bi-polar and started me on a regiment of meds that are very effective in mitigating the effects of my condition. My life is returned to how it was before my bi-polar manifested. I would definately recommend Dr. Kye to anyone, he knows his stuff.
Dr. Kye literally saved my life on more than one occasion. He immediately took me off of several medications with potentially toxic effects and was quickly able to stabilize my condition in a safe way with as few medications as possible that were appropriate for my diagnosis. I improved dramatically over a short period of time. Most importantly, Dr. Kye was able to diagnose Cushings Disease, a VERY rare endocrine disorder that had gone undiagnosed by all of my doctors (including my endocrinologist!) for almost 10 years! Had Dr. Kye not diagnosed it at that time, I would have died of a diabetic coma or a stroke, or I would have gone blind as a result of the rapid progression of the disease. Now I am able to get proper treatment and the health problems that I have had for almost 10 years will go away, thanks to Dr. Kyes skills as a physician and his dedication to his patients.
Dr. Kye diagnosed me as bi-polar. Which was interesting, b/c I've seen shrinks for years (In nyc, and California) and no one ever came to that conclusion. But when my Zoloft "turned" on me a month or so ago, it seemed logical to go see someone of his caliber for diagnosis.Anyway, Dr. Kye somehow convinced me (with rapid-fire talk and charts that I could barely understand let alone ask a question about) that I was bi-polar and needed meds, It took ME much more time to convince HIM to start me on a very low dose of Lamictal: 1/2 of .25 mg. Should have been fine, right?Wrong, because within (2) hours I was unable to tolerate noise, couldn't walk straight, felt HIGHLY anxious and nervous, and was shaking with frustration and anger. Went to his office (so he could ascertain I didn't have the dreaded "Lamictal Rash" - and sent me on my way. I was alot calmer, but soon started feeling highly agitated again.Took a steam bath, and an hour in a hyperbaric chamber (trust me: you come out feeling like you've done an hour of meditation!) and felt AWFUL again within (5) minutes. Finally (after seeing grotesque sci-fi visions, feeling extremely violent, AND having a strong urge to smash dishes or something) I went to the emergency room for "extreme anxiety." If I had really told them how I felt, I think they would have locked me up; I've never felt this messed up in the head in my entire life. Luckily, they gave me a low dose of Atavan to relieve the symptoms for the next two days.Meanwhile, Dr. Kye emailed me some clinical papers to read on my "new" diagnosis (which took hours to decipher) I found I couldn't really recognize myself in the symptoms he thought matched my... I don't know... pathology? Whatever. I emailed Dr. Kye, who graciously phoned back 26 hours later (26!) - mostly to see whether I'd decided to come back again. I think not. I don't know if I'm bi-polar, I only know Lamictal made me crazy, and I cannot, for the life of me, imagine why Dr. Kye thinks taking something that produced the same symptoms I'm trying to avoid (x1000) would be a good idea.Overall, pretty disappointing. And expensive. Plus, I read up on some of the side effects of Lamictal - ghastly. Back to better, focused, nutrition and an excellent homeopathic doctor for me.
Dr.Kye is very caring, compassionate, and works with you. He may come across as scattered and quick but it is because his mind is working, but he is listening to you and does TALK to you and works until the problem is dealt with. When the problem changes so does the treatment he is great with adjustments and finding out where you are. I can't say enough good about him just work with the hyperness it is in your favor!
Honestly this guy is all about bragging. He tells about how he went to such amazing schools and got amazing awards. WE DONT CARE? Without even talking to you for five minutes, he thinks he knows whats wrong with you. He is obsessed with people being bi polor and claims 98% of his paitents have it. What te heck? Thats soo not true
Very well educated as well as very caring. Was determined to solve the problem and never gave up. I was a very difficult case and had been to other doctors who couldn't help.
He was very arrogant, but was well educated and experienced. I found that he didn't attend to my most problematic symptoms, and didn't work with me about what I was concerned about. Also got facts wrong when I gave the report of my symptoms and acted upset that I interrupted. Over all highly irritating.
