Dr. Daniel John Deziel, MD

Beware, his office is run by Rush Hosp. When they bill they mark the bill as out patient. United Healthcare would not pay their share because the bill has out patient which is considered a visit to the hospital. I ending up paying over $300 when I should have paid only $45 for the office visit because they put out patient on the bill. I spoke to billing and they wouldn't do anything to assist me. As far as they were concerned I owed the additional $277. They told United Healthcare that the office visit was a Rush Hosp BASED office. So if I continue to see this doctor I would have to pay an additional $277 for each visit until I reach my out of pocket. I'm sure there other doctors that work out of this Rush facility. Ask first if they bill as out patient.

We were so thankful for the initial successful surgery and for the doctor's care and attention, but then the complications began and so did our 3+ -month ordeal. At first the doctor came around often enough, although it was mostly his attendings and residents. With the many complications there seemed no end in sight and nothing conclusive or permanent in terms of resolution of any kind. Yet we were still discharged. Perhaps it was bc our insurance was out of network, or perhaps he was too busy, but he was not an easy man to reach. We've been back in the hospital a handful of times in the last 4 months and not once were we able to see him. And our most recent visit was a complete waste of time AND MONEY. We are out of network, our case has been ongoing, there should be some closure but my dad still has tubes in him, and one of them was supposed to come out. But there was express instructions that it couldn't be done without the doctor's ok. We waited for hours and no one could reach… him. No one. Total waste of time and money. We hope never to have to step inside the doors of Rush again. In the hellish situation we were in, the lack of compassion and attention made it that much more hellish. But again, I am thankful for Dr Deziel's skill and experience that saved my dad's life, but everything else was 3-lifetimes' worth of agony and frustration.
