Dr. David Principe, MD

I went to Dr. Principe for a high-risk pregnancy appointment as I am epileptic and am looking to get pregnant the end of 2023. I have never had such a horrible medical experience as I did with him. This will be my first pregnancy as I am recently married, and I am 33. First, when DP (Dr. Principe) entered the room, he barged in with terrible arrogance that immediately made me feel uncomfortable. DP started to begin our appointment with the door open, after which I had to ask him to close the door (he rolled his eyes as if I was being dramatic. We began the conversation and he was constantly interrupting me. I took out a small notebook that I had listed questions on - there were questions appropriate for the appointment, such as 'will I need to have a C Section as an epileptic' and 'how do I choose an OBGYN that meets the needs I might have?'. He ripped my notebook out of my hands and ran to the nurse's station & made fun of me for bringing it in & having too many questions (I didn't… even start asking anything yet). The door was open and this was absolutely a HIPAA violation as I do not want anyone knowing I am looking to become pregnant. He comes back in and I ask for my notebook back - he said no. DP then crossed out my questions, writing that some are irrelevant/too soon to ask (such as 'how would I choose a hospital/OBGYN as it relates to me being high-risk'), making fun of me the whole time. He then states that I am asking him everything short of where to send my kid to college. I was made to feel like a complete idiot. He then gets mad at me for being 33, saying that at 35 the quality of my eggs goes down and that I should have seen him at 22, but I didn’t, and now I am 33 so I made a big mistake. DP tells me that my epilepsy doctor is a fool for not running a specific medical genetic test on my epilepsy to find out if it is truly genetic as I am saying. I am telling him it is as my epilepsy doctor told me it is, and as I have 4+ family members with the same type of epilepsy. She has me on Sertraline as it relates to my epilepsy and is encouraging me to get off of it before I am pregnant. He told me I should be talking to a psychologist about that, which I said I did speak to one and that doctor recommended the same. He then shamed the psychologist and said that doctor didn’t know what they were talking about either. He asked what specific type of epilepsy I have – I told him primary generalized & I have tonic-clonic, grand mal and myoclonic seizures. He didn’t think that answer was good enough & put down my doctor. DP said we need to consider IVF so that we can choose an embryo that does not have epilepsy. This is something I am 100% not interested in, but he was forcing the idea on me. I never vocalized this is something that I wanted to do. He then told me I need to schedule an echo scan, which I did not understand why as I do not have a history of heart problems. He then walked out the room without telling me & called my primary care doctor (I’m still unsure why) to get some information from her on genetic testing? I said my cousin was just diagnosed with MD recently & I was waiting for a test to see if I was a carrier; DP grew very angry and said I should have had genetic testing for this as well, and that I needed to wait until I get the counseling before I get pregnant. I called the genetics locations he told me to, and they said they don't take on patients unless they are pregnant. How do I have genetics testing for things I didn't know of? DP then made a comment something to the effect of ‘watch, you won’t listen to anything that I say you should do." It was a vastly incorrect and offensive assumption as it shows he doesn’t know patients properly & misreads them, aka he doesn’t know what he is talking about. DP then said he is the only high-risk OBGYN in the state that delivers babies, insinuating that he would definitely be my doctor, so I felt pressure to be his patient. He said he would likely not be

Dr. P is an amazing doctor. He cares for his patients and he doesn’t play when it comes to his patients either. Doc has been with me since for my last 5 births and etc. He is amazing at what he does and I will recommend him to any of my friends and family. Love The Clayton’s

It took so long for me to make sure that I wrote the correct review for Dr. David. He is amazing, caring , patient, and dedicated. After 3 miscarriages I was referred to him, adn the day I met him he said you follow what I say and I will make you a mom, and he did just that twice! He is on call 24 hours a day 7 days a week EVEN ON VACATION!!!!!!!!! If you are looking for a Dr that is going to just cuddle you and tell you what you want to hear then NO he is not the Dr for you. If you are looking for a DR that is passionate about what he does and cares about you and your babies successful arrival then he is the DR for you, yes the wait is long but would you like a Dr that no one was waiting for or a DR that everyone is waiting for? He is a Godsend to my family and we thank him everytime I look at my daughter and son. Thank you Dr. P.

David Principe is THE worst OB doctor we have ever seen. It was our first baby and we thought he is an expert in this field. But he doesn’t care his patient at all. Literally he spends at most 5 minutes on the patient after hours of waiting time. He kept asking us coming back for checkup so that he can charge us more for doing numerous blood tests and sent us place to place for ridiculous reasons. Even in the places where he sent us, the doctors didn’t understand why we were sent in the first place. Just within one day visit, he could charge us thousands of dollars even after the insurance. He spent no effort comforting the patient but instead only instill fears. We were finally fed up and switched a doctor and our baby was born totally healthy.

Dr. Principe is a wonderful doctor. He cars greatly for his patients. He has delivered my 3 girls and soon to be next one in May 2020. He is funny and great with children. Children love him. I would recommend him to anyone. He is the best of the best. Number 1 always in my book.

Dr principe made sure me and my baby were both safe and checked every single detail. I have lupus and also had gestational diabetes during my pregnancy. My baby was born super healthy and we left the hospital in only 2 days!! He was amazing my labor lasted 10 min literally. His staff is also great they are never rude to you and they are super nice friendly and helpful

There would not be enough words to describe how thankful I am for Dr Principe's care. I'm so blessed to have found him. I had a high risk pregnancy, a 14-cm fibroid, he took care of us all the time. My baby was 10 pounds and he delivered me safely. My C-section was a success thanks to him. I absolutely love him. Excellent doctor and beautiful person.

I switched to Doctor Principe’s practice after a very unfortunate experience with another doctor. It was possibly the best decision my husband and I could have ever made. He made me feel at ease with every visit and even when I ran into some issues during my pregnancy, he was on top of it immediately. His calm demeanor, patience and knowledge allowed me to trust in the entire process and gave me a sense of confidence. His concern for my health was clear and was always there to answer any questions or concerns. Throughout the nine months of visits, my husband and I has also become very close with the nurses and staff (loved Nicole) and miss them now that my little boy has arrived. They were always so friendly, cheerful, resourceful, flexible and accommodating. Once our little man was ready to make his debut, Doctor Principe made the entire birth experience exactly what my husband and I had hoped for. It was a calm and encouraging and couldn’t have asked for a better coach.… He took amazing care of us both and was there day and night to check in on us. I truly believe my husband and I were blessed to have been introduced to this incredible man and feel as though our little guy might not be here today without him. Doctor Principe is truly an amazing doctor and will always hold a special place in our heart for bringing us the best gift we could ever have.

Scheduling practices need to change

He is a great doctor, excellent service, he has a lot of compassion for his patients.
