Hour , I left after 2 1/2 hours and not having seen the dr. Then had office staff yelling at me that he's a good doctor, they're behind today. This after the front desk posted a the wait to see the dr is 2 hours. A pressed preprinted sign, guess it happens often.
I consider him my go-to person on not just my knee, but he has a wholistic approach to medicine and has guided me to put myself in a better health situation including nutrition-wise, believe it or not. For this I think him exceptional
saved my life, awesome surgeon, great staff at 1250 waters place, I will be forever grateful for Dr Shein, addressed my problem and admitted immediately to the hospital and preformed surgery, at a time where I thought there was no hope he cured me and today 10/6 its a year. thank you for being a awesome doctor
Dr. David Shein is a wonderful Doctor! The reason it takes so long to see him is that he has a lot of patients as he is much in demand! It is worth the wait!
I would like to staFf Shein and his staff is the greatest staff in the world .He has the ability to give you back happiness in your life again. His staff to name a few Dr Martha Castro ,Tanya Lourdes,Anna and all the names I can't remember all the names that I can't remember but are just as important are the greatest people that you can put your life in their hands .They truly care about your feelings and always courteous to your needs.I have recommended so many people that feel hopeless about their health and future.I'm proud to be a patient and affiliated with this staff also his Manhattan office He just have the ability to pick the best staff no matter where he is located. I love Dr Shein and all the staff you are all the best people in the medical field.
AMAZING. The best doctor I have ever seen, for anything, period. The wait time that people "complain" about is because he may very well be the best doctor in the country for problems like these. 100% worth the wait, and sometimes there isn't a wait. World class. Amazing care. He knows his stuff. A surgeon who wants to actually avoid surgery if at all possible - one in a million.
Dr.David Shein performed my total hip replacement surgery 6yrs. ago & I have no regrets & a better quality of life since..I will return to his office if or when needed. Thank you Dr.Shein
Dr.Shein is a great doctor!!!!
Took 2weeks of phone calls to various staff members to get the right test ordered and to get the results 5 phone calls placed no return call as of yet..do I use this office and doctor ?
Dr Shein did a marvelous job on both of my knees. He was so correct when he said one surgery, pain, and rehabilitation. I was up moving around great by the third week. I recommended him to my friend in church to do both knees at once. He's the best! If I needed him again I would use him. Thanks Dr. Shein
Long wait; however, it was well worth it. Staff was very attentive, polite, and helpful. Dr. Shein, Martha and Lourdes were amazing. I was in excruciating pain, they gave me medicine and would not let me leave till I found relief. I called the following morning with questions and concerns and again, they were super helpful. I am very please and pain free.
Anyone seeking an orthopedist who does hip replacement, and especially hip revision surgeries, must see Dr. Shein. He is world renown and practices out of one of the top teaching colleges in the United States; at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine at Montefiore Hospital in the Bronx. Dr. Shein originally studied at his home country in Johannesburg, South Africa, continued his education in Sweden, where he invented specialized equipment that was the biggest breakthrough in the history of hip revisions. He later continued his practice in England, and then came to the United States with his expertise. He has literally performed thousands of revisions and has led the way with his extensive knowledge in the orthopedic community that has made it possible for the success of these particular surgeries and all their major undertakings. Dr. Shein gives all his patients the amount of time they need during their consultation and does not rush through any possible detail. Keep in mind that waiting room times can be lengthy; but think of this: would you want your doctor to rush through your imperative visit just to get to the next patient? He deserves the utmost respect as he gives every patient his best care and fixes many other surgeons mistakes! Don't be fooled - all surgeons are not as talented in their field - they will tell you they are - don't learn the hard way like many I've seen at his office have. He amazingly saved my life from despair and I am so grateful to live a normal life, but I also did my own part in my long recuperation and changed my life style forever! He did his best - but it is still up to me to do mine. Put your trust in Dr. Shein - his is the best of the best!
This man saved my life. When 13 doctors in Albert Einstein hospital told me that i had cancer and my left leg would have to be ampbutaded, Dr. David Shein said NO i can smell cancer, and you do not have it. So he operated on my leg and i still have my leg. That was 8 years ago. I will never be able to thank him enough, or sing the praises of Dr. David Shein. All i can say is thank God he was there for me. I am 74 years young and still alive thanks to DR. David Shein.
I went to Dr. Shein and after 7 years of doctors, physical therapy, pain management I went to him on a recommendation. I was not sorry. I spoke with me (not at me) heard me, And did surgery I am now 9 years later and happy I did the surgery. I can walk and function as I did before all this back trouble. He was great with me after surgery as well. He made sure I was well taken care of at the hospital. I can only say THANK YOU and I do recommend him.
One of the best doctors Ive ever known, and one of the best people. I am also a physician.
I had just given birth to extremely premature twins when I was diagnosed with a good sized soft tissue Sarcoma tumor in my upper right arm in 2007. I was being seen by a doctor who for a number of reasons did not put me at ease with my situation. By a divine twist of fate this doctor had to refer me to a 2nd doctor......Dr. David Shein. I was scared and did not know what to expect until the very moment I walked into Dr. Shein's examination room. He must have sensed my fear because he looked straight into my eyes with a determined and sympathetic expression and said " You have come to the right place. Don't worry we are going to get through this together." I cannot explain it but at that moment I felt at ease and in my heart I knew everything would be okay. Although my tumor was very aggresive Dr. Shein was able to extract it completely. In the process he also had to remove part of my humerus and muscle from the arm. He new that being a new parent with two babies was going to be a challenge with a weaker right arm so he "reinforced' my upper arm the best way he thought possible. He replaced some my missing bone with a bone graft from my hip and he secured it with a stainless steel plate over it. It's now been almost six years since my surgery and I am happy to say that the tumor has not returned and I can use my arm to a certain extent. I still see Dr. Shein and I am eternally grateful for the attention he has given me throughout this journey. I thank God and Dr. Shein that he chose his profession. I highly recommend him.
I went to see Dr. Shein for a 2nd opinion on my knee and all I can say is...the man is phenomenal! He was intelligent, polite, and truly made me feel like he was concerned about my injury. Even though the wait to see him was almost 2 hours...I would wait even longer just to receive his care. He took his time during the exam to be thorough and answered any questions that I asked (and being a lawyer, I asked a lot of questions). He did not recommend surgery in my case and was willing to explore other conservative options. What a delight to find a doctor who provides quality care and makes the patient feel like a human being. If you are ever in need of an orthopedist, then I highly recommend that you do yourself a huge favor and go see Dr. Shein.
When I first met Dr. Shein it was after a few months of excruciating pain in my arm and shoulder. I had seen several doctors who did not correctly diagnose my condition and thought I had bursitis. After spending 5 mins with Dr.Shein he knew exactly what was wrong with me. I had a severe bone infection in my left arm and shoulder, Dr. Shein was caring and performed surgery to correct my condition. Due to his correct diagnosis and excellent surgical skills I have the full use of my arm today. I can't say enough good things about him. My family and I are very grateful to him and his staff.
Lately, wait times in Westchester are averaging 3 hours. I recently walked out (after driving 45 minutes to get there) when it was clear the wait would be at least 4 hours, and I've talked to patients (in pain) waiting 4 hours. You can't call to find out how late he's running, and they take you in the order that you arrive, so you better bring a long book with you. I would consider him an outstanding MD if it weren't for the wait times, and the attitude of the desk staff, who treat this as no big deal, and that you should be happy to be seen.As an MD, I consider him caring, and once you get to see him, you do not feel rushed. He answers all questions fully. This is a difficult rating, as medically he's a 4, but as a manager, I'd give him a zero. A proper office management team should be hired.
Great doctor, inefficient office. Wait times average 3hours.
Both times I was in the office in Chappaqua. The first visit I waited over an hour. The second visit was going to be a 3 hour wait. In speaking with all his other patients that were waiting to see him, I was told that this was the norm and some people waited over 3 hours. We are pre and post operative patients. How do you keep patients with either orthopedic problems or spinal problems waiting that long. The only answer is that they are double booking, possibly triple booking. I am thinking about billing his office for my time? Excellent doctor, knows his stuff, but be prepared to wait, and wait, and wait, and wait!
dr shein was very caring and personable he answered allof my questions and i didnt feel rushed while i was with him he made me feel very much at ease and explained everything thorogly
Dr. Shein is a outstanding Doctor. He really knows his stuff and keeps up to date with medicine. He cares about his patients and gives good explanations. He has a great staff (team). Everyone is courteous. You may see a lot of people in the waiting room but because he has a great staff, it moves fast. He is a great surgeon. I'm lucky to have him as my Doctor.
After exhausting all physcians referral,I was given Dr Sheins # from another patient of his.I was at risk of an amputation of my leg due to the negligence of another surgeon. After meeting with Dr shein and undergoing extensive surgery and radiation therapy.I am living a full life with my leg intact, when all other specialist wanted to amputate.Bless Dr David Shein and his staff that got me through the worst time in my life.I would recommend him highly. When all other Physicians fail do yourself a big favor see this man he is outstanding. And is very much worth the wait

Dr. Shein is a caring , compassionate and skilled physician. In conjunction with pain managment he has kept me pain free for the past year and a half. I trust his judgement and appreciate a dr. who treats his patients like people rather than case numbers. He was honest and frank about my condition and put me on a path to pain free living without surgery. If you have the opportunity to consult with him you will be a lucky person.
He found the problem when all others failed. One of the most compassionate doctors I have ever known.
removed more in surgery than he said and did procedures I didn't know about til after surgery. still looking for help. Now he won't have anything to do with me. Says he can;t help me anymore. I am still in alot of pain.
Watch out and get a 2nd opinion
I first met Dr. David Shein in 1999 when I was referred to him by another orthopedic doctor. While other doctors didn't believe that an old tumor could have changed after 9 years, Dr. Shein believed otherwise. After two biopsies he found the malignancy and removed my left scapula as a result. I would not have been as satisfied with any other doctor like I was was him. He's the most capable and compassionate doctor I have ever known. Thank God for Dr. Shein.
