Dr. Denise Ewald Malkowicz, MD

First time seeing a neurologist and the worst experience. The urgency was sub par considering the urging of PCP to attend to a potentially life-threatening brain condition; office staff were unpleasant and unhelpful; tons of medications were prescribed that did nothing but make the patient feel worse; and no follow-up was conducted. Never contacted the patient once to find out his well-being. More importantly, an MRI was just recently conducted (for an unrelated reason), but in reviewing it an ENT discovered a small mass. We ordered a copy of the MRI done during the time spent in Dr. Malkowicz's care (1.5 years ago), and the mass showed up in the images. Same size, but still present. I am having much trouble understanding why and how a physician of this caliber is still able to practice. This is not what health care should look like in any form.

I believe that Dr Malcowicz has some kind of medical issue that has caused her to lose hospital privileges. Not sure if she is still in private practice, but she appeared confused and narcoleptic when I saw her in the summer of 2014. Nice woman, and highly-regarded physician, but there is definitely a problem with her health.

My experience with Dr. Denise Malkowicz and her staff was very frustrating and extremely unprofessional. I showed up for my initial appointment 5-10 minutes in advance, only to find out that Dr. Malkowicz had not arrived and finally showed up to the office about 10 minutes after my appointment time. My initial check-up with Dr. Malkowicz was okay. She definitely took her time with me, but I found I needed to repeat symptoms and/or she would ask questions regarding symptom I had already explained. The two tests Dr. Malkowicz prescibed for me, never took place for the following reasons: -- The office took 2 weeks before submitting the tests for pre-authorization. I was told that the reason for this was due to the fact that the office system had been "down" for 2 weeks. -- After the prescribed tests were finally submitting for pre-authorization the tests were denied by my insurance. Dr. Malkowicz's office never called to notify me of this. -- After waiting about 1.5 weeks, I… called to find out that the test was denied and was told that the Dr. would call me to follow-up. This, of course, never happened. -- Again, after waiting 1 week, I called to follow-up. The receptionist put me through to Dr.Malkowicz, who had no knowledge that my test was denied. (even though my insurance company gave the doctor's office the case # and reason for denial. The doctor then proceeded to tell me that their system was "down" and she could not do anything. The best she could do was write down my name and information, and she will try to get back to me. She couldn't guarantee it because she was writing it down on paper and indicated that she could not guarantee that it would get processed in the system. On top of all this, the front desk staff is EXTREMELY RUDE!. They cut-off you mid sentence when talking to them in person or via phone. And when calling they place you on hold and forget to get back to you. The last time I called I was on hold for 17 minutes and was hung up on. When I called back, I didn't even get an apology. Needless to say, I do not trust this doctor or office with my care and will be seeking a new doctor; after wasting 6 weeks of my time.

Dr.Malkowicz is not the kind of doctor to go see if you are in need of PROMPTNESS! She did not seem to be listening to anything i was saying during my appt and when i expressed how important the forms i gave her were she made me think she really cared ( they were not completed for weeks!) I was in her office for almost 3 hours waiting in the waiting room ( no tv) for over an hour and then she spent almost 2 hours talking to me mostly about things i didnt understand and she would repeat things and leave the room for several minutes at a time!!! I was a previous patient of Dr.Kelly before he left the practice and i never had these issues while he was my neurologist. The staff told me Dr.Malkowicz was a caring and respectable doctor..they must not be her patient!! Its going to take a miracle for me not to leave the practice,its a shame.
