Dr. Derrick Gerard Hickey, MD

Found him to be fortright and direct in his evaluation on my first visit. I apperciate his approach and understand some would be taken aback by directness . Everything he stated regarding surgery and what I could expect thereafter was true. Completely pleased with his services. My only negative comment is the wait time after entering the exam room. I was a little too long

Saved my daughter's hand! Can't say enough nice things about this Dr. Does not use physician assistants either so he saw her for every visit.

I went to 3 other orthopedic doctors before seeing Dr. Hickey. Instead of zeroing in on some sort of sports injury, he actually listened to what I had to say and correctly diagnosed me. Surgery was successful and follow up extensive since my healing took some time. His staff is polite and pro-active.

My husband was scheduled to have surgery on a Thursday at 1300. The office called about 9 and said he's running behind, can you come in at 1330. That was no problem. Then calls back about 1230 and asks if we can come at 1500. Mind you, my husband hasn't eaten since midnight the night before. Then she calls back and asks if we want to reschedule since it's going to be late getting done. Of course we don't want to reschedule, I took off work to be there. Well as we are on the way (we live in Jacksonville )she calls AGAIN and says well we're going to reschedule for tomorrow. Worst service I have ever received. I took off work, which may not seem like a big deal but it is when I'm 9 1/2.months pregnant and my maternity leave starts in 2 weeks and I rely on the little bit of money I can get. I am absolutely disgusted with this place.

Overall experience was grea. I was seen and diagnosed and we were well on our way to getting me better. The only thing I would say is scheduling an appointment and getting there 10-15 mins before only to sit in the waiting area for a little over an hour. Then to be seen for 10 minutes. They made absolutely no sense to me. This happened on at least 3 of the 5 office visits I've had. what I would recommend to a friend is to bring a book while they wait. Also make sure all paper work is complete and accurate i.e. Dates, info

Ten years ago he performed surgery on my 8 year old son and I was very impressed with his skills and professionalism then and again when he fixed my frozen shoulder. He is very pleasant, honest, and talented.

Our son broke his arm and needed surgery. Dr. Hickey was thoughtful and courteous, even when I had to call him on a Saturday at 1:00 in the morning. He explained everything to our son and his recovery was amazing. Two months later, I broke my ankle and required surgery. I requested Dr. Hickey, and again, received great care We have an HSA insurance policy and knew we'd overpaid our deductible, but did not know where we'd be getting a refund from. (Lots of bills at this time) We asked the lady at the front desk about this, before we went in for my appt., and by the time we got back up to the front desk, we were told what amount and when it was coming. I did not expect this promptness, but was grateful. Overall, great experience.

Honest and straightforward. Could not be happier with the care I received. Saved me a serious surgery in my hand!!

I had very successful hand surgery with Dr. Hickey. However, I never received any statements from his billing service. I was owed a refund, but I never got it without my badgering the office staff. The billing service still has not sent any type of detailed statement on subsequent visits.My calls for an appointment for an ongoing shoulder problem were never returned even after visiting the receptionist personally.Even though I really like Dr. Hickey as a doctor and surgeon, I will not go back.
