Dr. Donna Romona Powell, DO

Terrible experience. Never spoke to her until morning of procedure for less than a minute. Definitely treated like a number. After procedure, I had concerning questions and it was impossible to get a hold of anyone for over a week. Wouldn’t recommend her.

I really wanted to love Dr. Powell since I had been suffering with a GI issue for so long and was eager for help. Unfortunately, this was not the case. I am a medical student but she spoke to me in common terms, which felt somewhat demeaning. She seemed to not believe my reporting of a prior diagnosis of Celiac Disease, and basically sent me away with a generic recommendation to take fiber (which I already do) and several expensive tests that ended up being of little use to a diagnosis. I really did not feel heard. A year later now, I ultimately connected with a GI doctor at USF who seemed concerned with severe new symptoms. I was finally diagnosed with a chronic but treatable condition that was missed upon my first attempt to get medical care.

If you want a doctor who truly cares about you and you medical needs and you need a gastroenterologist, Dr. Powell should be the first Doctor you call. We laughed when she gave me the "hold your hands out" test that I would always fail no matter how hard I studied. (LOL) Doctors at another hospital would try to get a barely conscious me to do the same, and only when my Mom said, Do your test, did I comply.

Helped me get UC under control. I see her at St. Joeseph North. She and staff are very responsive to patient's needs. Dr. Powell is very thorough, caring, and does not rush appointment time,

She is the best!

She was wonderful and tried everything to help my daughter all the doctors in the group are great...

worst doctor Ive ever been to. Slow to get anything done, difficult to make appointments, NEVER returns phone calls. waste of space.
