Dr. Douglas James Marira, MD

The office manager was very rude and impersonal. Had me wait at the front desk for several minutes while she search for medical records. She came back and discussed with me in the hallway of the office with other patients could see and hear our conversation. Very rude and confrontational.

Be prepared to wait for over two hours to see the doctor.

When my son was born I chose Dr Marira because that is where I went as a child, he ran certain tests most pediatricians don't. A day later I switched only because the location was out of my way and my sons family suggested another. Well I received a phone call from his office to immediately report to the ER. I went. Apparently the tests he runs that no other doc does at birth detected something so vital it could have caused brain damage in my son if not detected. We were in the hospital for weeks, and were sent home with equipment to help with his condition. Needless to say I switched right back. His new doctor said she simply doesn't test for those things bcuz they rarely come out abnormal. Uhhh. But my son could have gone untreated. In my opinion, yes the waits can be long at Dr Mariras office, however, I'll wait for quality service. My sons life and health is worth a small wait. I will not be using any other doc for any future children.

It was my first time at that office with my daughter. She is 10 months old. My husband and I had to wait for TWO AND A HALF HOURS! as soon as we walked in there we felt out of place. It was a really uncomfortable feeling. The doc spent a total of 5 min with my daughter I will NEVER EVER bring her back there. If you are white I recommend going somewhere else!

I've read some of these reveiws and I've gotta say that You guys must be talking about another Dr. Dr. Marira has been our 9 year olds doctor since birth and he's been nothing but accessible,professional and accurate with his diagnosis . We've called at late as 11:00 p.m. and as early as 6:00 a.m and he's always responded promptly. Very greatful that we chose him.

Dr. Marira was stepping in for my pediatrician while he was out of town and what I experienced was HORRIBLE. He had the police come to my house and tell me that I had to go to the ER immediately because there was something wrong with my baby. When I asked them what it was they told me they didn't know, and that Dr. Marira had called them to come to my house. I checked my phone and saw two missed calls, both within a three minute time frame from about 30 minutes earlier. So now I am completely terrified and rush to the ER, when I get there they look at me like I am nuts, Dr. Marira had not called them to let them know what was wrong either. I spent an hour and a half just waiting for them to figure out why I was even there. When I called his office to ask what was going on the lady who answered the phone was unbelievably rude, telling me that Dr. Marira had been trying to contact me ALL DAY and spoke to me like I was some sort of neglectful parent. She didn't connect me to Marira or… tell me what was wrong, she simply told me that he was talking to the ER and that was the end of the conversation. I eventually am told that they need to run some blood work on my baby and send the results to Marira and wait for him to tell them what to do. Long story short, I am put into a small room that is for people on psych watch in the ER with a newborn for 4 hours waiting on the results. Horrible experience.

At my last visit we watched two full length movies while we waited. The Dr. spend less then 10 minutes with my son and did not know anthing about him.

To who all that has him as a doctor. I just recently spoke with someone that was employed by the doctor and was told some very disturbing thing about him. No one in his office has a valid lisence. When he cant tell you whats wrong with your child he gets on the phone and decribes the symtoms to other doctors and they come up with an educated guess. I always new something was wrong with himbut never would i have thought it would be this crazy. I used to see him when i was a child and now my children see him but after hearing all the stories she told me she will no longer see him.

I was at Backus Childrens hospitial for years and I was never happy with the service and I could not change because no one took other doctors patient. They had wrong diagnosing. When I found Dr. Marira I was so happy that he took my two children. The staff is GREAT....my first visit they helped me get my daughters ID number and Card. I love this office. I have had him a year and love him!

Extremely long wait even with an appointment. The office staff is unprofessional, and doesn't have a clue. Dr. Maira is cold, not at all comforting towards children, and should have chosen another specialty.
