Dr. Ebony B. Carter

She delivered my daughter. She was fabulous. I am pregnant again and will have no other doctor but her. She's the absolute best!

I used to work for Dr. Boyce and I respected her so much that I started seeing her as my own OB/GYN. She's the best doctor I've ever worked for and takes great care of her patients!

She's amazing! She delivered both of my babies and I highly recommend her!

I saw Dr Boyce Carter in 2012 for my 2nd pregnancy & delivery. I can not sing her praises enough as she listened to my concerns throughout the pregnancy and on the day of delivery, remembered my concerns and followed them up. I had to have a follow up c section and without a doubt I attribute my quick recovery to her.

As a patient of Brigham and Women OB/GYN, for OB care you can select your doctor, but you are by NO means guaranteed that your doctor will deliver your baby. To prepare for the randomness of delivery-day, I rotated through several of the doctors at the practice to become familiar with who they are. When I met Dr. Carter, I was shocked by her lack of empathy and professionalism. She scoffed at my comment that I'm trying to adapt principles of hypnobirthing (she covered her face dramatically with my file/chart and said "Oh no! I have only seen one successful hypnobirth in my career! Good luck!"). Passing judgement in her head is one thing -- but verbalizing it evidences poor bedside manner in my opinion and is just plain immature. I was 39 weeks pregnant at that visit and when she performed my internal exam she was VERY rough. Much more rough that any of the other doctors I had visited. This comes specifically after I asked her to be gentle, to which she replied "No one has… ever had to tell me that." Day of birth, my misfortune had it that Dr. Carter was the attending doctor on call. She had no real role in my birth thanks to the help of an amazing nurse and my birth coach. When she finally did arrive (very very very late -- they were looking for ANYONE to catch the baby but she insisted that she was coming), all she had to do was sew my up (natural delivery, 2nd degree tear), and she failed miserably at the task. She performed a very sloppy job in stiching that very delicate area, and has left me more disfigured than I needed to be. I've seen other professionals who told me that she very poorly apposed my skin and tissue, leaving me with a terrible scar that is very painful and unnatural looking and feeling. I would not recommend Dr. Carter for OB or GYN care. For that matter, I wouldn't recommend this practice for OB care at all. The fact that you could get Dr. Carter, or the other novice attending who they have rotating heavily through the schedule, would be gambling in ways that are just unnecessary. I suggest for OB care you are better off sticking with a practice that has not diluted the integrity of their professionalism or their experience by hiring such a recent grad who is very, very far from making the mark.

I was in house for 30 days, she was a Fellow. Of all the providers I saw, Dr Boyce made me feel the most comfortable. She never sugar coated anything and was always up for my crazy questions and ideas. I was keep there with a broken water and unable to leave or do much of anything. She took my concerns and needs for physical activity, as limited as it was and set up physical therapy to help. When me regular resident was off, she came in to see how things were going. Her bedside manner was superb! It made the very stressful stay much easier. If I didn't live in NH and she was closer, Dr Boyce would be my choice for OB/GYN. Sorry to hear about the other review being negative, I had only positive interactions with her.

I went to see this OB for my first child. I was coughing up blood and she acted like it was no big deal. When I asked for a different form of a particular drug (one that dissolves under the tongue) she told me it didn't exist, though it does--she could have taken one minute to look it up at her computer. After a few more questions she said, "You know, these are only ten minute appointments." Then, recently, she delivered my friend's child and forced my friend to deliver on her back--which is outlandish, and my friend tore like crazy. I highly recommend you choose someone else.
