Dr. Edith Y. Cheng

Man, she sucks. Avoid her like the plague. I bet Dr. Cheng is real smart, but she's got the emotional IQ of a cucumber. Is that what you want when your baby is sick, maybe dying? How is she allowed to see patients in this position? She talked to my husband, like I was too dumb to understand her. It was awkward... and insulting. Like, just because my husband is a biologist, or what? She made a really big error with our baby (which happens, okay, understandable), and then when we were like, hey, six other doctors disagree with what you're saying, she was like, impossible. Got all defensive. She was sitting next to an ultrasound machine, could have rechecked the issue real quick (she'd just used it on us), but noooo, she just acted like, how dare we question her team's good name. We were nice about it, too! She got us all worried about our baby, and then NEVER got back to us. Someone else called us with results - and then, click. I called her three time over the next few months with… concerns - crickets. I think she wrote us off because she knew she messed up with our case. She SUCKS. For the record, I went to a top-10 college - but the more important issue is, NOBODY, especially no parent with a sick baby, should be treated like this by their doctor! I'm upset that she made that kind of mistake, but that's not so big. The big thing is how she handled it. She broke our trust and faith in doctors, and that stuff has lifelong consequences. Our baby is fine, but we're not, thanks to this ridiculous doctor. Why, just why, isn't this person working in a lab - where she could go do her work, and not hurt anybody, by seeing them face-to-face? Please choose someone else.

I was referred to Dr. Cheng by my primary OB after having 3 consecutive miscarriages in a short period of time. I was very disappointed with my appointment. Dr. Cheng completely brushed off my concerns and offered little compassion towards my situation. She literally shrugged her shoulders when I told her that I'd been depressed since my most recent miscarriage. She told me that miscarriages happen "all the time" and that, being in my 20s, I should just try again and then go back to my regular OB. She seemed bored and annoyed with me. I was upset at her unwilingness to get to the bottom of my problem. I left that appointment very discouraged. She reluctantly ran a few blood tests, one of which came back slightly outside the normal range, but never followed up with me about the results, even when I called the office multiple times. I have since seen a different MFM doctor, who, along with being much more compassionate, ran some thorough tests and discovered that I have a fairly… significant blood clotting condition that is likely the cause of my losses. We now have a plan in place for when I get pregnant again. I would not reccomend Dr. Cheng to anyone.
