Dr. Edouard Martin, MD

Dr. Edouard Martin received his Bachelor of Science from Yale University in 1979 and earned his Doctor of Medicine from Yale in 1983. He completed his internship and internal medicine residency at Bellevue Hospital in New York (finished 1986) and then served as a Teaching Assistant in Medicine at New York University School of Medicine through 1987. Dr. Martin went on to complete a nephrology fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School in 1991.

Since relocating to Fort Lauderdale in 1991, Dr. Martin joined South Florida Nephrology Associates, later becoming a partner with Dr. Diego Echeverri and a co-owner of the group. He has been principal investigator and co‑investigator on numerous clinical research studies and trials for the South Florida Research Institute (a division of South Florida Nephrology Associates) since 2005, and he currently serves as Medical Director for several Fresenius dialysis clinics in the Fort Lauderdale area. In his clinical …practice he manages the full spectrum of kidney disease — from acute kidney injury and electrolyte disorders to chronic kidney disease (including diabetic nephropathy and hypertensive nephrosclerosis), glomerulonephritis, nephrotic syndrome, and kidney stone disease. Treatment approaches in his practice include blood pressure and glycemic control with RAAS blockade (ACE inhibitors/ARBs), diuretic and electrolyte management, immunosuppressive therapy when indicated, dietary and fluid counseling, and coordination of renal replacement therapies such as in‑center hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, vascular access care, and transplant referral or conservative management when appropriate.

Dr. Martin is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine and Nephrology and holds medical licenses in California and Massachusetts in addition to Florida. He brings decades of experience in both patient care and clinical research, overseeing dialysis quality and participating in drug and device trials to improve kidney outcomes. He is also fluent in French and Creole, which helps him communicate with a diverse patient population.
