Dr. Edward Joel Fudman, MD

He was awful!! He came in the room with an attitude and was rude, said that everything had been thouroughly evaluated. The last time i was evaluated was a few years ago. He didnt ask questions,didnt let me ask questions, he didnt even pull up anything on the computer,he didnt even do the regular tests to feel for swollen joints. He just did not care at all. We were at the appointment for only 5 minutes. He was also just filling in for all the doctors that left. I do not recomend him for anybody.

Dr. Fudman has been incredible and stuck by me in my diagnosis and helped me work thru the insurance process as well

My husband has had Dr. Rudman as his rheumatologist for over 15 years. He put Tom on Emberel years ago. His quality of life went up 90% after this medication. Only a couple of freezing joints over this period of time. He is not touchy freely but has made an incredible difference in the life of someone with rheumatoid arthritis .

I was referred to Dr. Fudman about three year ago for RA. because of the excellent care he has given me, I can now walk and have a normal life.

Dr. Fudman is an excellent physician. When I was first diagnosed, he broke down my condition into plain English and helped to dissipate many of my fears regarding my condition (fueled by a bit too much Googling). Since that time he has always been excellent in addressing my questions and concerns. While I can understand that he does not come off as particularly emotional, I have always found him plenty personable. And while we rarely chat about topics other than my condition, I greatly appreciate the top-notch, personalized rheumatological care I have received. Both his nurses and office staff were also incredibly warm and helpful. I have had many pleasant conversations with them as I was having my blood pressure read.

Dr. Fudman was very quick to diagnose me with lupus, an autoimmune disease that can be very difficult to diagnose, within a very short period of time. Since then, he has put me on medication and managed my disease extremely well. As a result, I have no daily symptoms aside from swollen lymph nodes. Dr. Fudman is extremely well-read, and when I ask him questions (which I always ask a lot), he always responds to me with answers that make sense and which he backs up with information from scientific journals. He always stays abreast on the current research, which makes me feel so much better when putting the management of my disease and my quality of life in someone's hands. He is not always extremely talkative or as personable as some people might prefer, but for me, I need a doctor who is smart, knows his stuff, and who keeps track of current trends in research and treatment. This rheumatologist, a graduate of Duke University, is just that. And when you have questions, he is full of… answers!

Take the time to get an appointment with another doctor. There's a reason this guy is easier to see -- he probably doesn't have any repeat patients. My primary sent me to this guy after an ANA panel showed me positive for scleroderma. Dr. Fudman treated me as if I was wasting his time, was short and dismissive and did not suggest any other tests. He told me, "I can't do anything for you until you develop RA" I've now discovered that the scleroderma has damaged my heart and lungs -- damage that could have been slowed /prevented if this guy had any idea what he was doing. Run don't walk away from this office. I now refer to him as Dr. Dudman. He's a real dud.

Diagnosis was correct. Dr. Fudman actually saved my life when a wrong diagnosis of a chest xray was made by radiologists. He came to the hospital to see me as I could not get anyone else to believe I was in trouble. He diagnosed my pneumonia and I was moved to ICU within minutes. He called in the Critical Pulmonary Doc's and they said I had a 50/50 chance of living if I made it for the next 12 hrs. After 4 days in ICU and 3wks in the hosp.. I fully recovered.He does listen very well and is a caring doctor.

He correctly absorbed my somewhat complicated situation from my records and gave me clear advice & a thorough explanation of lingering issues. His manager/ assistant is awesome -- that can be pretty important to getting good care. I chose him mostly based on availability but I've learned since my appointment that Dr. Fudman is highly regarded by other Austin doctors.

Saw this quack five years ago when it was suspected I had lupus. All he told me was that I was a healthy young woman who needed to stop looking for problems and that I "did not want lupus". Made me feel like a hypochondriac. I have now found out that I indeed do have an autoimmune disease that has needed attention for many years. I have NEVER forgotten what he said to me or how he treated me. I avoided doctors for years because of him. That is my fault. But now I am getting the help I need.
