Dr. Edward Tsai Chen, MD

This is probably the most condescending doctor I’ve ever seen. We are first-time parents and are constantly learning. During our appointment, we asked him questions such as whether our child was eating enough and what we could do to help lower his jaundice levels. Instead of taking the time to teach us or explain things, he made faces and made us feel little for not knowing. He has zero people skills! I’m honestly surprised he is a pediatrician. For example, he told us our son had gas, and when my husband asked how he could tell, Dr. Chen just laughed and said, “Because I listened.” He made us feel ignorant/like bad parents before explaining that he used a tool to listen. Overall, we had a horrible experience with him. We had another appointment the following day with a different Kaiser doctor, and due to our experience with Dr. Chen, I felt anxious about going. However, the second pediatrician was so kind, patient, and took the time to answer our questions without being condescending… or borderline rude. I definitely do not recommend Dr. Chen, especially if you are first-time parents. He will make you feel worse than you probably already do.

Dr. Edward Chen is quite possibly the rudest, most condescending person I have ever met. The fact that he is a doctor, and a pediatrician at that, makes it even worse. He practices medicine with complete and utter disregard for perhaps it’s most core principle, “first do no harm”. His bedside manner is atrocious. He belittled and shamed my 13 year old son. In the simplest and most direct terms, Dr. Edward Chen is a bully. It is very disheartening to see so many reviews (some going back 10 years) from parents who had the same experience. How many countless children and parents have been mistreated and disrespected by this doctor? All of the bad reviews are true, we experienced it ourselves. We left feeling victimized and violated. Under no circumstances should you allow your child to be seen by Dr. Edward Chen.

Our normal doctor didn't have an appointment time so we took the next available with Dr. Chen. He listened thoughtfully and gave us a lot of good advice. He did a thorough exam and after it was all done I had another question about something else and he took the time to give me some great advice there as well. I never felt rushed and I felt like he could relate to my daughter who is 11.

Told me my 3 month old (12 pounds) weighed too much and if she was at the same point on the graph at her 4 month appointment then I should... and I quote, “feed her less”. I breastfeed her only. What?!? Then, her twin brother is “too thin”. My son is 10 pounds. He is on an oxygen tank for his lungs. He is growing and almost off of oxygen. His pulmonary specialist says he is growing well, even with his condition. They were both premature and my son was in the nicu for a month. Dr. Chen was rude and showed little interest in being in the room to do my twin’s check up. Not to mention, we waited in the room for 25 minutes for him to come in after the nurse checked us in and weighed them. Both of my twins were crying and when he walked in he said, “Wow” and then rolled his eyes. Are you kidding me?! He had the nerve to say that after we were waiting on him? After the appointment today I called to change their doctor. He has poor people skills and is very appaling. Parents should feel… comfortable and confident with their children’s doctor. I do not recommend him. Seeing all of these other bad reviews on him says something about his practice. Kaiser needs to do some re-evaluation on this doctor and his behavior towards parents and patients.

Dr. Chen has the worse bedside manner I have ever witnessed. He physically hurt my child during the examination because he was so rough. He was condescending and rude throughout the exam towards myself and my husband. He was also dismissive of my son who wanted to ask him a question. He should not be a pediatrician and SHAME on Kaiser for continuing to employee him!!

Do not waste your time with Dr. Chen. He is extremely arrogant, disrespectful and has no regard for humanity. In all my life, I have never experienced a doctor with such a horrible bedside manner and so extremely rude, much less a pediatrician. He lacks people skills of any aptitude, is hurtful and mean to children and should not be a doctor working with the human public in any way. He should be ashamed of how he treats children. He portrays himself as a severely miserable person. Definitely NOT a doctor you want tending to your loved ones. Avoid Dr. Chen at the Kaiser Wildomar facility at all times!!!

Very awkward doctor. Lacks people skills and is probably the least friendly doctor I've ever come across. He doesn't like to answer any questions, rather he gets annoyed by them. If you want a nice, friendly doctor who cares and interacts with your child, do NOT make an appointment with Dr. Chen.

Seen him mulipule times. Unsatisfied every time. Very Unprofessional Dr. After telling him symptoms our son was having he laughed and said he looks fine to him before even examining him. Didn't examine him throughly we had to ask for him to check his ears. Would not recommend him.

Acts superior to us, laughs condescendingly at things I tell him about son's condition.
