Dr. Elijah Michael Johnson, MD

Dr. Johnson performed gall bladder surgery on my mother after she had been in ICU for ten days and suffered several life threatening episodes. When she was finally able to undergo the gall bladder procedure, Dr. Johnson was not only professional but receptive to all my questions. He was extremely reassuring and confident in his abilities and the entire surgery went off without a single issue. It was the only procedure in ten days that went as planned without any unexpected complications or unwanted surprises. I was grateful for his expertise, steady hands, and professional decorum. Thank you Dr. Johnson for your kindness and dedication.

I highly recommend Dr. Johnson for any general or laparoscopic surgery. After 70 years of a reasonably healthy diet my gallbladder had to be removed. I consulted with Desert West Surgery at the recommendation of my primary care Doctor. He said to pick any one of the board certified surgeons. I read the backgrounds and chose Dr. Johnson for a pre-op consultation. Dr. Johnson is very knowledgeable, listens closely and answers your questions without inserting " medical jargon". He asked what my expectations were and was interested in knowing about me as an individual and didn't treat me a medical procedure to be performed. He explained in detail the procedure, the possible complications and how he would treat any complications. He also explained the post op limitations and how I could expect to feel during the relatively short recovery period. I had my 10 day post op follow up today and I feel completely recovered. Dr Johnson advised me not to over do it and suggested a time line for… a return to exercise, diet suggestions and life style adjustments if needed.

I had an excellent experience with Dr Elijah Johnson. My case was very complicated because of my history of multiple chemotherapy and Radiation. His surgical skills are impressive. Very down to earth and personable. Doesn’t rush you like a lot of Dr.’s do.

Worst experience I ever had in my life. I have really bad hemorrhoids that causing me bleeding every time I have bowel movement. Dr. Iwamoto referred me to Elijah Johnson and he said Johnson is the one who can perform hemorrhoids banding procedure. I scheduled with Elijah Johnson on the Aug 9th at 4pm. His office called me approximately 2pm on the same day and informed me that they don't have enough tools in that location which Elijah Johnson can't perform the procedure for sure and they forced me to rechedule to the 10th the next day without any apology. I went on the 10th, this is the first time I seen him. He didn't ask me anything that related to the hemorrhoids or symptoms. Kept asking me about my work, my job, and my personal things. Which makes me think he's careless to the patient and really unprofessional and I felt really uncomfortable. After those useless conversations, he started to do the procedure, he used two tools and tried almost 10 times to put rubber band… on my hemorrhoids and all got failed.  Then he started complaint about the tools, the lights, his assistant, except his ability. I got nothing done on that day and he made my hemorrhoids bleed much more the next day without saying apologize. I felt helpless and sad. It's not a complicated procedure and I never heard anyone got unsuccessful on it. Which I think he's really unprofessional, rude, careless of his patient and he doesn't have ability to be a doctor, at least for this procedure. I called his office the next day, no one answer the phone all day, so I called on the following Monday was asking for the refund. His billing officer told me they won't issue any refund to me because it's unsuccessful. They will still send claim to my insurance and if my deposit is not enough to cover the patient responsibility I still have to pay the rest. She even gave me a example of restaurant. If I ordered something I don't like. I still have to eat it same as no refund. So ridiculous. No apologize and trying to teach me or something. Now I am consulting with my attorney. If you see my review and about to make appointment, please be careful. They charged higher than other place. They are careless about their patient, trying to make money from patient even it's their fault.

Dr. Elijah Johnson did an outstanding job with my surgery. I would recommend him 100%!

I was referred to Dr. Johnson by my internist who was certain that my abdominal pain and the ultrasound he ordered indicated a hernia. Dr. Johnson ordered a CAT Scan and when those results were questionnable, he then ordered an MRI because he said it was better at revealing abdominal wall tears. When the report was back, he went down to the lab and actually met with the radiologist to compare the MRI with the ultrasound to be certain that there was nothing there. I was thrilled to find out that I did not have a hernia! I felt Dr. Johnson was very sympathetic,but more important, he really was thorough in evaluating my pain. He knew I did not want to have any sort of "exploratory" scoping, so although he was a surgeon, he was not quick to recommend that option. I was impressed.

Won't be going here again

Dr Johnson was great with our family. He took the time to explain things so we could understand.
