Dr. Elisabeth Heath, MD

Dr Heath is great but the systems around her are terrible. (1) if you have an emergency, there is no clear way to contact her or her team. (2) Her nurse lacks customer service and bedside manner and is frequently hard to reach. (3) after receiving care at another health system, it is clear that the karmanos team is focused on research vs patient care. While pain management, radiation, physical therapy, nutrition, neurology and other providers coordinated closely as a team in our new setting, it was clear that those players were largely disjointed and uncoordinated at karmanos. This resulted in a less-than-wholistic approach to care. So, for example, After two years working with the karmanos team, a crippling mobility issue remained undiagnosed or understood. In less than one week in the new setting it was learned that the issue was MS. Teams matter. Working as a network matters. While we loved Dr. Heath herself, the systems around her and the rest of the care received through karmanos… (except dr. Meyers, who was outstanding) was poor, hence the relatively low ranking.

Dr. Heath is very caring, very knowledgeable, so easy to talk to. I love her, and I would definitely recommend her.

Dr. Elisabeth Heath is one of the finest doctors in the world. She is extremely intelligent and has the best bedside manner! She treated my husband for prostate cancer and we are both grateful for her expertise and care. She is just wonderful!!
