I was sent to Dr. McEleney by my primary for possible treatment of what had been diagnosed as Psoriatic arthritis in my right knee, an immune disorder. I had been using numerous pain medications and was taking Enbrel which reduces immune system activity. The results were poor at best.Dr. McEleney with the help of X-rays of my knee while standing determined that it was not a rheumatoid-type of arthritis, but garden variety osteoarthritis which would not be helped by very expensive Enbrel. He injected a steroid directly into the joint which effectively reduced the pain by 80% and lasted for 3 months. I have now had 3-3month injections with no side effects.Sometimes it pays to go to an expert for a diagnosis. Since the 2nd visit was on my 79th birthday - he gave me a lollipop!
