Doesn't know the difference between mild and major depressive disorder (MDD).

Better off seeing someone else.

Listen up folks. Do yourself a favor a avoid this guy. He gaslights patients and tries to use your own words against you. And oh yeah--he lies in the medical record when he writes about what he talked with you about.

Very critical and uncaring. He is an embarrassment to his mentor and professor Dr E Alan Jeppesen at the University of Utah.

I will put simply by saying he is incompetent at diagnosing mental illness.

See someone else. Incompetent. Wasted 3 years of my life with him.

He is not good with the hard cases. He is biased against people who are recieving Social Security Disability benefits for depression.

I've been with Dr. Caten for 13 years. What some patients perceive as "bad" bedside manners and aloofness, is actually him in deep thought analyzing their situation and how he can help that situation improve. He has bent over backwards to help me, always going the extra mile.

I have been seeing Dr Caten for over a year for depression, anxiety and ADD. He is cold, condescending and judgmental. I have purposely told him little about myself because I don’t trust him. I know he is not a psychologist doing therapy but a little warmth, a tiny bit of empathy, would go a long way. He flat out told me he didn’t know about caffeine and acidic foods interacting with Adderall and I should go ask my pharmacist. He prescribed the He is the Dr. I paid to see him. He’s a terrible Dr. I wouldn’t wish him on my worst enemy. Needless to say. I’m moving on.

I would not recommend Dr Caten if your problem is sex addiction, he doesn’t believe that exists and openly blames the LDS church.
