Dr. Eric Lyle Sandwith, MD

After surgery and months of rehab for a severed Achilles tendon, I noticed I was experiencing jaw pain when I warmed up for physical therapy. I ignored it and many times it went away. Then, after the pain became so severe, I decided a trip to the ER was warranted. Upon arrival at White Wison Medical Center, Fort Walton Beach, they knew immediately I was experiencing a heart attack. Their medical ER team stepped up and began the process of saving my life. I underwent stress test and heart catheterization. I was believing they would simply insert a stint. I had never experienced chest pain or shortness of breath. I simply had a little jaw pain and only recently. The catheterization procedure didn’t go well, or should I correctly say it did. It identified all my coronary arteries were so blocked a stint wasn’t practical. Seven blockages and damage to the left heart muscle. I was referred to a surgeon. I had mentally decided to not undergo surgery. I wanted to just go home. I had… experienced many surgeries with my dad years ago and did not feel comfortable going through the same processes. Dr. Sandwith, his team, and the coronary surgical team at White Wilson was able to explain my condition, and in doing so, helped me understand my options and choices. Which, I only had one. I clearly remember Dr. Sandwith saying to me, I can help you if you let me. Dr. Sandwith preformed Coronary Artery Bypass surgery on me the next morning, and I believe in doing so saved my immediate life and provided the possibility of many healthy years to come. He and his team were able to place four CABG (graphs) and restore blood flow to my right and left heart muscle. The surgery was a success. My experience in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care (post-surgery recovery) was a difficult journey but looking back it was easier than it might have been. The CVICU team is the best, they are so well trained and experienced, they know what you’re going through. They made the process better and shorter. As far as I’m concerned, I was in the right place with the best team, and of course, not overlooked the best cardiovascular surgeon. If knowing ahead of time all my choices, this is the surgeon and team I want. I wouldn’t change a thing. They are simply the best.

My father is no longer with us because of Dr. Sandwith and Fort Walton Beach Medical Center. He and the hospital deserve no stars. I will pray for you does that sound familiar. The truth will set you free. You reap what you sow.

I personally think that Dr. Sandwith and his team go above and beyond for everyone of his patients. He treats you like your one of his family members and made sure that I fully understood the procedure that I was going to have. His office staff kept me informed of every little detail before and after my surgery. It really gave me a peace of mind so I only had to focus on my recovery.

I sincerely thank Dr. Sandwith and his team for my excellent care. After living with constant chest pain for over a year, seeing other doctors who had no solutions, he was able to heal this pain forever. After only one month, I am healthy with no pain at all. In fact, this was after a quadruple bypass. God could not have blessed me with a better surgeon and a simply wonderful, caring person. Thank you.

I am very impressed with Dr Sandwith. He is very professional and takes his time to completely explain everything concerning my surgery. He put me at ease about my procedure which my previous selection of a surgeon did not. He is an excellent choice.
