Dr. Eric T Vinokur, MD

I went to Dr. Vinokur with what I considered to be a simple problem in my left eye. After he examined me he told me( in laymen's terms) that I had a stroke in my left eye and he strongly recommended that I go to the ER immediately for a stroke protocol workup. I followed his recommendation and was subsequently diagnosed with an 80 percent+ blockage in my left carotid artery, which required surgery and the placement of two stents. Without Dr. Vinokur's intervention , I was a ticking time bomb waiting for a full blow stroke. He saved my life and my family and I are very grateful.

I visited with a problem that turned out to be fairly simple to cure. This doctor literally stuck pins in my tear ducts and insulted me when I asked him to explain what and why he was doing this procedure. I was told by two subsequent doctors that his 'treatment' was completely unfounded and unnecessary. He insults his staff and his patients.

My husband and I have been seeing this excellent doctor for 25 years, first in Smithtown and then in Riverhead. He is extremely knowledgeable, professional, personable, caring, and kind. He is quite willing to spend some extra time educating the patient with the background information about eye health and care. He is truly one of the best doctors we have ever had. Do not hesitate in seeing him. You won't regret it.

Waiting time to pick up finished eyeglasses was extraordinarily long -- more than three hours.

He was sweet and made me feel at ease. I do have some concerns about his telling me about two cataracts that he felt were fine at this time. Maybe he might have been more aggressive but I enjoyed my visit and since I hate the thought of eye surgery at my age, he suited me just fine.

This man was exceedingly insulting. He appeared angry upon entering the examination room. When I asked a quesrion concerning my eyes he replied that he was not there to answer my questions and intimated that I was wasting his time and bothering him. I had had cataract surgery but my vision was still unsatisfacory and I was told I would need a lasar treatment.
