Dr Van Rens is an excellent retinologist, highly skilled with excellent bedside manner. He took the time to understand the issues, gave a very detailed exam, explained the treatment, conducted surgery with no complications and was pleasant, giving his time to his patients even at a very inconvenient time on Easter. I would highly recommend him if you have retina issues

We were on vacation at TopSail island when my husband experienced a complete retina detachment on a Sunday afternoon. Dr. Van Rens saw us Monday morning and performed surgery on Tuesday morning, managing to fit my husband into an already full surgery schedule. Our doctor in Altanta (who has impeccable credentials) said that Dr. Van Rens did an outstanding job and my husband was very lucky becasue his eyesight has come back almost 100% and should continue to improve. Our experience with Dr. Van Rens could not have been better and we are most fortunate that he was determined to perform surgery on my husband immediately and I truly believe he saved his eyesight.

Poor diagnosis due to rushing to see more patients. Waited 3 hours for a 2-minute visit. Poor-mannered staff.

I had a retinal tear when I was out of town and my doctor's at home referred me to Dr. Van Rens. He was not nice and was quite rude. He did fix my eye though. I hope I never have to go back to see him.

My suspicions of the comments below are that they angry staff members from Brownlow's office who are jealous of this compentant & caring doctor in my opinion! This doctor is very compassionate & explains everything in detail. I will never stray from this practice!!
