Dr. Faith Abbe Menken, MD

My opinion and observation of Dr. Menken ! When l first arrived at her office , l had to wait around 15 minutes or so lol. When she finally called on me , l entered her office , and she seemed nice greeted me etc . She viewed-my hospital Papers in front of me and immediately said with a twist on her face Surgery ! My thought was okay , she's used to seeing this ,and already knows the risks associated with my condition ?? l didn't hesitate , she took me to a room to examine me , and told me afterwards to wait in her office ,and she would be right with me . I had a chance to sit and look at her many plagues on the wall. She came back and we set up the surgery date . The surgery date was approaching ,and l became panic - stricken ! I called her 3 days before my surgery and cancelled out ! She said okay ,no problem ,with no questions asked ! I was doing lots of research , thinking ,l need a 3rd opinion , what l was actually looking for ,was for another doctor to tell me you don't… need surgery , when l knew in my heart ,that l truly did need it ! Perhaps 2 or 3 weeks went by , and l was not really thinking too much about surgery , but it was clearly on my mind . Dr. Menken called me and left a message video recording , where she said , that she still thinks that l need the surgery , and she didn't care which doctor would perform the surgery , but to please consider doing so ! I thought about it , l really liked that she reached out to me , so l called her back within days ,and told her that l hadn't had the surgery ,but to please schedule me once again ,and l wanted her to perform it ! We set up the date the same day , and l promised her that l was going to go-through with it ! One thing that l like ,is that when you call her , she picks up immediately , and if not , she will call you within a minute or so , she's good about that ! There are a few other things that l admire about her , one being ,she's straight to the point lol , she doesn't beat around the bush ! She's a tough woman, and she takes many insurances ! After the surgery within 17 days, l went to her office to have my stitches removed , we spoke about my choices as l was diagnosed with stage 0 non invasive precancerous ??. She said , okay ,you need radiation , l will set up an appointment for you , but you don't need chemo ! I immediately told her No , l don't think l need radiation, because l know you removed all of the bad cells on my right breast , and the surrounding tissues , l trust you ! I told her , if l were to get radiation , it will only do damage to me , and may very likely cause me to develop other cancers throughout my body ?? She immediately said you are right , you don't really need it lol ! I guess they work hand in hand with the oncologist to boost their work ,and send patients to them ! It didn't bother me too much , it was minor ,because l already knew that l wasn't going that route ,and l pray that l never have to?? I probably would had given her 4 stars ,but because of her superb professional knowledge , she deserves that extra star ! I will keep her as my doctor ,to follow up on mammograms , exams etc , and l do highly recommend her ?? Her New Patient Antoinette C.

I was examined by DR Menken. Probably on a bad day. Kind of rude.

I have been a patient of Dr. Menken for several years. She is wonderful. Her staff is great. I would recommend her to anyone in need of a surgeon.

If you are searching for a breast surgeon that is knowledgeable, experienced, thorough, informative and kind- search no more. I had a surgery complication and saw Dr. Menkel for a second opinion. After being riddled by pain and anxiety from my post-op complication for a week, I decided to see another breast surgeon. I quickly felt the weight lifted as I explained my situation to Dr. Menkel. She really listened to what I had gone through and I felt like she understood my frustrations. She was very thorough with her examination and explaining her recommendations. After meeting with Dr. Menkel I decided to transfer my care over to her and can say that I will sleep better tonight because I trust that I am in good hands. If you are looking for a top notch breast surgeon, I most certainly would recommend Dr. Menkel.

I have had great experiences with Dr. Menken and her office. I've been treated with respect, never had to wait and was able to make a last-minute appointment without a problem. She is a top-flight surgeon and conscientious about her approach and post-op follow up. She referred me to a specialist after a minor complication and personally called him to go over my case. I feel very lucky that my OB sent me to Dr. Menken in my hour of need.

Dr Menken has been very patient with me as this is my first breast surgery. She always picks up calls asap and follows up pretty fast. She is the best breast surgeon I had. Definitely keeping her in my list of Doctors.

What could I say Dr. Menken is so great, she saved my life, if it wasn't for her I probable wouldn't be here to talk about it. I have a strange body that the tests don't show my cancer. This was the 2nd time I got breast cancer in 2008, but none of the tests showed it, but Dr. Menken didn't give up.

Dr. Menken is friendly and intelligent.

Dr. Menken handled my breast cancer surgeries. I've never met a more concerned, caring, and skilled surgeon. She's incredibly accessible and always calls back promptly. She carefully answered all of my questions and made sure I understood my options. When I walk in her office, I feel like she really cares about my health and healing. I wish she specialized in every area of medicine--there simply aren't many doctors like her.

She was willing to see my elderly father who was visiting from Florida with a nasty wound that wouldn't heal. She immediately changed the previous doctors ineffective protocol and within a day we saw immediate improvement. She was smart and very gentle with my father. She's now on my permanent list of terrific doctors in NYC.
