Languages Available: Farsi Personal Statement: I completed my training in 1998 and my practice is manly medical oncology. My philosophy of practice is a partnership with members in delivery of health care. I strive to create this through education about a disease, options of therapy available and support on decisions made by them for the best outcomes possible. Biography & Background: I received my bachelor's degree in biochemistry and biophysics from the University of Houston -University Park in 1984. I spent four years at MD Anderson Cancer Center performing cancer research and completed my medical degree from Texas A&M College of Medicine in 1992. My internship and residency in internal medicine was followed by a fellowship in hematology/oncology at the University of Arizona under the direction of renowned hematologist/oncologist Dr. Sidney Salmon. I joined Southern California Kaiser Permanente Medical Group in 1998 and currently serve as the chief of the Hematology/Onclogy Department. I am involved in several clinical research projects. Clinical Interests: My office is located at the Lakeview Medical Offices in Anaheim. I have seven partners and one physician assistant. My office is supported by a cancer coordinator, a social worker, chemotherapy-certified nurses and specialized chemotherapy pharmacists who staff the Chemotherapy Infusion Center in the same building. I attend the weekly tumor board at the Anaheim Medical Center Hospital in Lakeview. There are radiation oncologists, surgical oncologists, and interventional and other specialized radiologists, pathologists, and doctors of gastroenterologists. Member education materials are readily available through my office, the Chemotherapy Infusion Center and the clinical research trials office. I offer members cutting-edge cancer drugs through our coordinated cancer clinical trials office. There is a research nurse and data manager on site to help members. Research Interests: I belong to an athletic and musically inclined family. Having two soccer-playing children and three musicians in the family fills up my time away from work, which helps me thrive both physically and mentally. I love playing soccer myself, swimming and hiking. I also love watching musicals and concerts. Being a spiritual person, I also volunteer at national cancer organizations helping cancer patients. |
