I have been under the care of Dr. Owings for the past three months following a series of other hospital stays and physician care that complicated a critical medical condition that was life-threatening.I thank the Select Hospital staff at Emory Crawford Long for introducing me to this fine man. Dr. Owings is a surgeon whose experience , thorough diagnosis, and genuine concern have enabled me to move forward in my recovery and to appreciate the "old school" skills lacking in medecine today. I cannot praise Dr. Owings enough. He exemplifies what a doctor is in every respect. I would recommend him to anyone who wants the best in medical care and expertise.He is a gentleman, a scholar, and most importantly, a doctor who listens and cares.

I wish there were more doctors like Dr. Owings. Great surgeon, friendly and caring and takes his time listening and understanding your problem. Office staff is also very friendly

I've had intermittent acute gallbladder attacks for about 5 years now, and finally had them accurately diagnosed by my primary physician (he suspected gallbladder for a while, but we could never catch it in the act). After meeting with one surgeon who refused to schedule gallbladder removal as inpatient surgery (the only kind I have coverage for) because it's "never done that way", I was referred to Dr. Owings by a friend who works with him as a nurse. He was friendly, professional, reassuring, and overall very competent, and he didn't even blink at the idea of keeping me overnight. He said he does that in a fair number of cases. We expected my surgery to be completely routine, but my gallbladder turned out to be in MUCH more serious condition than my symptoms indicated. Dr. Owings spent the time and effort to finish laparascopically, even though it was difficult to do considering the condition of the organ, so that I wouldn't have more scarring and a longer recovery time. And… I'm glad I got to be in the hospital for 24 hours, because the pain didn't really kick in until several hours after I'd have been sent home as an outpatient, where I wouldn't have had access to professional caregivers and morphine, much less the IV fluids that were needed considering I still couldn't manage to eat or drink much for a full day. It's been almost a week now, and I'm feeling good, coming along really well, and am very pleased with my experience. I've got my follow-up today, but at this point I'd happily recommend Dr. Owings to ANYBODY!
