I saw Dr. Daum because my 3yr old son was petrified to go to the toilet. He would scream, turn red and hit me whenever I would put him on the toilet, he would only go in pull ups and that was his last resort. After seeing Dr. Daum he was able to sit down in 1 day and be potty trained in one week. I liked that we were able to talk to Dr. Daum everyday to explain what was going on and if we had any concerns. Dr. Daum talk to you as if you are a friend, not a number. I would absolutely recommend Dr. Daum if you have a child who is having difficulty going to the bathroom, if I did not go to him, my son would still be in pull ups.
Our 9 year old daughter had been suffering from encopresis since she was in preschool. Until we started working with Dr. Daum in mid-August, we never fully understood what was driving her chronic bathroom problems and / or how to help our daughter. After two hospitalizations for kidney infections, we saw several GI specialists, received several medical exams to rule out any potential internal problems which were not there, sought psychiatric therapy for 2 years, etc. but the chronic soiling / bed wetting / accidents never went away. With Dr. Daumâs aggressive therapy, our daughter was âaccident freeâ by day 3 and regained her confidence. We were a bit nervous about the new regime but there is definitely a well thought out logic for his program which really works. We had a few bumps going back to school for the first two weeks but Dr. Daum was always there for us and helped us reconfigured her daily routine to continue a life. He is very matter of fact but truly loves what he does and approaches this very embarrassing but also very common issue in a take charge manner. Our family is a lot stronger now and we no longer hold the frustration which came along with the accidents. Highly recommend Dr. Daum to any family seeing help!
Dr. Daum spent so much time with us. He started by telling me "I have your back, we'll get through this together" which nearly made me cry! My son's illness has taken a huge toll on him and our whole family. It's impossible for him to swim or have sleepovers. He's watching his much younger cousin and brother get toilet trained while he was still wearing pull-ups. He is 10 now and just after his 10th birthday we met Dr. Daum and he changed his life. He entered 5th grade in underwear. He actually got to swim on his last day of summer day camp. He has never gotten to swim at day camp!! Dr. Daum was so caring and so quick to know just what to do. I would highly recommend him to EVERYONE! Get your child to see him right away and just do what he says!! You will be so glad you did!
He helped our daughter with encopresis. She has now been clean for 3 months. Yay!
Meeting Dr. Daum was an enormously positive experience for both myself and my 24 year old son with a multitude of special needs. His dedication and commitment to us (as brand new patients!), and the issue we were dealing with is astounding! During the only 'In Office" visit we had, Dr. Daum spoke to my son with kindness and respect, and immediately provided us with a "plan" to manage my son's current medical issue. Along with the plan, came Dr. Daum's cell phone number and his commitment to speak to me every morning at 7:30 am to find out how the previous day and night were, and to tweak the plan for the coming day. We have been battling medical issues of all types in my son's 24 years of life, and such dedication and commitment is extremely hard to come by. I am extremely grateful to have found such a committed physician who cares so much and seems to "get" what a special needs parent has to contend with daily.
He healed my 5 year son my Encopresis. We had tried absolutely everything under the sun to potty train him with NO success. Under Dr. Daum's care, he was fully potty trained in a week. We were amazed. Life's good, now! Thank you Dr. Daum!
Dr Daum has helped us in 4 days solve a problem we have been working on with many medical professionals for over 4 years. My daughter is 7 ½ and was not potty trained. Every day it was a battle to get her to go to the bathroom for anything. She got to the point of only going once a day. Yes, once a day. Her little body struggled so much â she couldnât sit still, she was always in some pain, she didnât do well in school, she wasnât making lasting friends, she fought against what her body was telling her. It was so hard to watch and help her when she was always ultimately in control. Yes we gave her large amounts of Miralax and she still was able to hold. The professionals characterized it as behavioral and a phobia. The approach was of course to modify her behavior and help her psychologically understand what she needs to do. This approach was very slow moving. She had terrible accidents and just hid everything. Then we found Dr Daum. His approach was straight forward. He helped us through the day before preparations, he talked to us each night until she got it and he has followed up for new direction as the beginning of school is fast approaching. No other doctor was there to really talk you through each side turn you may take. Our daughter was smart enough to find ways to hide all of this from teachers, parents, and her friends. No child should have to do that. Dr Daum is so kind and helpful. He is very talented and smart. He has personal experience in this area too. I cannot say enough good words about this Dr. and his program. I highly recommend him.
In 1984, I was in terrible shape. I was so sick with ulcerative colitis, I could not live outside of the hospital. Dr Daum saved my life. He took me under his care and taught me how to live with my illness. I owe everything to him. I'm 48 years old with a thriving business, husband and 9 year old daughter. He is exceptional
It's nice to find a doctor that listens to you and respects you as a mother and listens to your intstincts. Spent plenty of time with us and really got to know my son and what his issues actually are. We are so greatful!
We had been to 2 pediatric gastroenterologists. The first had no real understanding of encopresis and how to treat it, the second was more experienced but not compared to Dr. Daum. We finally felt like my daughter was in the care of someone who knew how to help us and gain control over it.
Very pleased with the care from Dr. Daum. After numerous attempts at helping my son's problems, I finally was referred to Dr. Fredric Daum. Within weeks, he had corrected the situation that had been on-going for over a year. His knowledge and professionalism were exemplary. I would be the first to recommend him to any parent faced with same bowel difficulties.
Its hard to come up with something new to say when so many of the other reviewers are saying exactly what I would - his program works. Plain and simple. My strong willed, special needs 5 year old is now potty trained - day and night. Just truly amazing.
I am the parent of a special needs child. Dr. Daum was patient and attentive. I would recommend him to any parent. He is a gem and a valuable resource!
He helped my daughter who suffered with encopresis I for years. We finally see light at the end of this long terrible journey - she is feeling happy and in control finally. And looking forward to sleep away camp this year. His program works
Dr Daum is highly knowledgeable with years of true expertise. He was attentive and reassuring during our visit and even followed up with a phone call the next day. We will definitely be staying with him through our medical journey.
We recently began working with Dr. Daum through his telehealth program. Our 11 year old son was diagnosed with encopresis two years ago by a local pediatric gastroenterologist (not Dr. Daum) who prescribed daily medicine. Although the local doctor was familiar with encopresis, he was not able to modify the treatment (dosage/timing/medicines) in a way that would enable my son to stay clean. My son started a new school this year and has missed a significant number of days due to encopresis. My son was disappointed in himself. My husband and I were struggling to clean him out so he could attend school regularly â our normal methods werenât working. It was clear that we needed help from someone with more expertise and knowledge about encopresis. We contacted Dr. Daum and very quickly heard from Michelle about setting up a call. She was fantastic! She answered all of my questions about Dr. Daum and assured me that he could help my son. Every call we have with Dr. Daum is on speakerphone so my son can hear what the doctor says. On our first call, Dr. Daum told my son that he would help him so that he could start to do things he hasnât been able to (play sports, have sleepovers, etc.) - my son finally began to hope again. The first day of the program was tough, not for what we were asked to do, but because my son was unintentionally making it more difficult on himself. At the end of the day, Dr. Daum, in very simple terms, explained what my son was doing. It was a light bulb moment for my son. He needed to hear those words, delivered with honesty and not sugar coated. The next day, my son stayed clean all day and all night. He has been clean for weeks. Dr. Daum is working with us now to slowly reduce the dosage prescribed until he finds the right daily amount for my son. Without exaggerating, this program has been life changing for my son and our family. It is well worth the time and money involved. We did not have anyone with Dr. Daumâs level of expertise and knowledge about encopresis in our area. We are very thankful for his work. My only regret is that we did not contact him years ago. Overall, Iâd say that we like Dr. Daumâs optimism, honesty, and sense of humor. We never feel rushed to end a call with him, but time is not wasted either on idle talk (I appreciate that). He is candid without being harsh. The most important thing is that Dr. Daumâs program is working for our son. I asked my son how he would describe Dr. Daum and the word he chose was âamazingâ!
After two years of doctor's visits, useless tests and treatments, we finally found Dr Daum. He is smart, knowledgeable and has such a great way with my daughter (an me) But most of all, he has helped her to feel better and she is blossoming into a confident and happy little girl for the first time. Thank you!
Dr. Daum has been treating my son's encopresis and has been exceptional in supporting and guiding me with the treatment.
If your child is struggling with Encopresis, Dr. Daum is the best. We had tried EVERYTHING before we discovered him and nothing worked. My son was accident-free in a matter of days once we started working with Dr. Daum (over a year ago). We've had a couple of minor setbacks along the way, but Dr. Daum has been wonderful at helping us through those in a timely manner. When we needed paperwork for our school, we had it the next day. I cannot thank you enough for helping my son live a normal life. We appreciate you so very much.
Dr. Daum has been a God send to our family. No other doctor has been able to help my 9 year old with his Encopresis. Dr. Daum took the time to speak with my son on the phone and told him "we will fix this" and he absolutely has. I cannot possibly put into words the gratitude our family has foryou Dr. Daum. You have changed our lives. For anyone whose child is struggling, do your child a favor and contact Dr. Daum. He will give you the solution you have been searching for. I know how hard life can be dealing with Encopresis. We have been to numerous doctors, specialists, and psychologists and no one has been able to help us. Thank you Dr. Daum! We will forever be grateful!
This is a review for Dr Daum's telephone service. I have a very bright 4 year old daughter who refused to poop in the potty and demanded a diaper or pooped in her clothes.. I started envisioning what would happen if she was not toilet trained in time for kindergarten in our small town . Thankfully an internet search brought me to Dr Daum. The program is NOT EASY and requires a parent to have faith in Dr Daum..my child screamed cried fought me and pooped on the floor numerous times..many times I questioned what he told me to do...but after 5 days she was " self initiating " going to the potty to poop ... And 30 days now she's accident free. You have to trust Dr Daum...the program works..and he understands what its like to have a kid that refuses to poop on the potty as he went through it has well...Dr Daum can also be a bit rough on the phone so you have to have thick skin...my kid also seems much more happy and confident! Thanks Dr Daum for helping my child and our family
Dr. Daum is a one-of-a-kind physician and person, an all too rare find in today's world. He is clearly highly intelligent and experienced. What sets him apart from others is his genuine concern for his patient. By addressing my daughter directly, he familiarizes himself with her as a whole person, not just someone with gastrointestinal issues. His intuition is uncanny. He speaks to my daughter as her gastroenterologist, her therapist, and her friend. And she listens - because it is obvious that he cares and wants the best result for her. Dr. Daum is inspirational. Listening to his stories about his fund-raising activities reminds us that there are still truly good people in this world. Here is a man whose life matters in so many ways, in so many arenas. Such a stroke of good fortune to have been referred to him for medical care and to get to know him as a person.
I really have excellent experiences with Dr. Daum and he has many years of experience and doesn't feel the need to do testing unless it is necessary. He always answered any questions that I had and he was very helpful in resolving the issues I was having with my child. If you go in for a visit you do't have to wait long if you have an appointment or show up early he will take you in so you won't have to wait long. He there is a need for you to reach him after hours he will provide you with his personal phone number and he never gets upset at the questions that you have and resolves the emergencies over the phone. I highly recommend you use him as a physician you will wish you had called him or found him sooner.
Our beautiful five years old grandson was experiencing excruciating pain for over eight months. We unsuccessfully consulted with several doctors who misdiagnosed his condition as constipation. Dr Daum was the first to diagnose that he was stool withholding. It was immediately obvious that was an expert in his field. He provided us with his personal cell number and always answered the phone. We hesitated with his recommendation of ex lax but we took a leap of faith, and our grandson's problem of withholding is now solved. We are yet to meet a doctor like Dr. Daum who is not money hungry and who literally held our hands throughout this difficult ordeal. His expertise, combined with his kindness, understanding and compassion are a rarity nowadays.
Dr.Daum is truly an angel sent from above. He has helped my son when we had just about given up on toilet training .
Dr. Daum is nothing short of a great doctor. He accurately diagnosed me, found an effective treatment for me, and held my hand every step of the way. He comforted me, made himself accessible to me by letting me reach him at any point via his cell phone, and most importantly HEALED ME!!! If it were not for him I would still be suffering. You must give him a chance!
He gives you his cell phone. Think about that. For any parents that are reading this review, you know you close to the end of your rope when dealing with some of the elimination disorders Dr. Daum treats. We were. We were so lucky to find him. We felt completely out of control not know how to help our 4 y/o son who has had encopresis for over a year with no success in curbing the accidents. This is a long road, it is not an instant fix, but Dr. Daum is a close as you are going to get to a doctor living in your house helping you with each bump in the road until the right combination of success is found. I am writing this review after a week of working with him and talking to him hours a day. Even for almost an hour at 7:30 on a Saturday morning. This is the doctor and program of support you need for your child, please trust another loving an determined parent.
Dr. Daum spent a great deal of time with us, and was extremely thorough. While completing his toileting program, we spoke by phone every night for weeks. We have never had to wait in the office. My son looks forward to seeing Dr. Daum.
After two years or trying to potty train my 4 year old son, with Dr. Daum's guidance and expertise he was trained in ONE DAY. I talked to him on his cell phone every night for two weeks until we felt confident that my son was trained. There is no wait time at all in the office, and I never feel rushed. My son feels comfortable and happy with Dr. Daum, and Daum even took the time to give me advise about my other child, who was not with me at the appointment.
Dr. Daum takes the time to listen and review all symptoms that my son was experiencing. He followed up on lab work and tests that were completed. He has a nice way with children.
Dr Daum clearly cares about his patients. He treats my (autism spectrum) child with kindness and respect. His treatment has helped her a lot, and improved her quality of life. In the beginning of his treatment he gave us his cell phone number and spoke to us every day to encourage us and fine tune the treatment. All the staff of the pediatric clinic are lovely!
Dr Daum is the most rudest, arrogant & nastiest doctors I have ever dealt with. He never listens to what you have to say, & tells you that's not important to him. Constantly talks over you & is extremely disrespectful in front of the children. I'm surprised he's still practicing and that people put up with his bedside manner. I have recently found a wonderful doctor who has great bedside manner and listens to what you have to say. This doctor needs to come off his high horse and go back to school & learn how to treat people.
Dr Daum is one of the world's best doctors!!!! His knowledge and skill are a notch above. The thing my wife and I liked best was his availability...the time he takes to talk with us, ask about us, talk to our daughter. He is very busy, but never makes us feel that he is too busy for us. Appointments are easy to get as he works long hours. The staff is nice and helpful. If you really want the best for your child, go to Dr Daum!
Took my daughter to Dr Daum last week and he was so great. He was third GI doc we went to see and finally, someone who can help us. He was patient, smart and knowledgeable. He had a nice manner with my daughter and we never felt rushed. I am so happy my girlfriend insisted I go see Dr Daum. I would recommend him highly to anyone.
Dr. Daum is nothing short of amazing! He helped us potty train a six year old with autism, and it certainly wasn't an easy task but he was always available whenever we needed him. During the first week he called me no less than twice a day - even while he was on vacation! I have his personal cell number and can call him anytime I need him. If he isn't able to answer he returns my call promptly. We have never met in person, he was able to work with us over the phone. We had tried so many methods, to no avail. His program truly works, and I am so grateful for him and his wife. He is truly a caring, compassionate and knowledgeable man that only wants to help parents and children live a fulfilling, happy life. I only hope that others find my post helpful and give Dr. Daum a chance. He will truly change your life!
We took our son to see Dr. Daum when our son was about 10 months old because he was gagging and vomiting every day. Without even doing a single test (or even a basic exam), Dr. Daum said "He'll outgrow it" and sent us on our way. Now, here we are over a year later and we just found out through another doctor we've been working with that our son has a serious medical problem with his throat. I'm disgusted no real tests were ordered by Dr. Daum over a year ago and that our son has had to suffer all of this time. Needless to say, I do not recommend him.
I really appreciated Dr Daum with his overall honesty and simplicity to our daughters problem! How grateful we were to learn it was behavioral! Dr Daum has a mandated program which i learned so much from and my daughter is a different person- thanks to him. I would recommend everyone i know to put what they think they know "aside" and Let Dr Daum do his " magic"- THANK YOU DR DAUM for all you do and you are appreciated by us and so many xo
Straight to the point. Sit down, shut up and listen. He asks the questions he wants the answers to, period. He'll educate you and tell you what he feels you need to know end of story.I guess that is what makes the wait time and promptness so good. You can ask a question and he'll answer it if he feels it's relevant to the visit at hand. He spent a good amount of time examining the child and explaining his answers. I only gave 3 stars for accuracy because we only saw him today. It sounded good but we'll have to wait and see. He gave us his cell number to bypass office calls if we need him so 4 stars for follow ups. I guess the bedside manner thing is personal. I'm not sure if it matters if you get a doctor who is good at what he does. Thumbs up!
Very rude.Terrible front desk staff, who are arrogant and don't try to work with you when you are trying to book a.( All front desk females were talking on their cell phones and joking with each other while people in the waiting room were waiting to be seen.Horrible office hours ..Dr is never in. Doctor is very nasty and cuts you off when you as a concerned parent ask questions too him.
I didnt like him at all. He was rude, made several comments that were innapropriate for the situation, his tone of voice led me to believe that he did not believe me, and that he didn't really care. The doctor talked more about himself then my health. He would not let me talk about the pain I was in and made a comment that made me want to get up and leave. I can assure you that when I return for a follow up, I will be seeking a new doctor. Thank you.
I brought my son in to see Dr.Daum I felt that he was very knowledgeable and explained everything to us.I felt he went out of his way for us.He made sure he contacted my sons pediatrician with his findings and followed up with us also. We had a great experience with him
My son was complaining of stomach problems. Shortly after finding Dr. Daum he was diagnosed with Crohns disease. So glad we found the right Doctor to help my son the first time. Not only is he knowledgeable but caring in his field. We are both happy to say he has been tremendous!
Dr. Daum is a miracle worker. dont mistake firmness for stupid. He was accurate in his diagnosis of our son and was dead on in the treatment, life changing is all i can say. Those who dont like him, its probably because they dont know how to listen to constructive critisism, and they put their own ego before their childs best interest. Dr. Daum taught gave us life changing advise and guidance.
Dr. Daum not onlydiagnosed my 4 year old properly and immediately, but he gave us all the time in the world and really took it personal to make sure that we can get on track with the stool withholding. so far it has worked exactlyhow he said it would, and we couldnt be happier, already the atmosphere in our home is amazingly better. As a note to the parent who was upset by Dr. Daums comment "whats more important, work or your kid" get over yourself, hes right, we've all made mistakes as parents, the difference is that youre not ready to accept that yet, and until you do, your chiled wont get better, remember, its not about you or your ego. Thank you Dr. Daum, you really changed our lives.
Great at diagnosing my 8 y.o. stool withholding problem, but this doctor demands a mandatory meeting which cost $75 non refundable, only held once a month on thursday morning, basically to instruct you on how to re potty train your child. The diagnosis is 100% valid, the $75 mandatory fee for the meeting seems unreasonable. Beware don't sign any paper regarding attending the meeting until you get a second opinion. At least the office was beautiful.
Dr. Daum is amazing. He is accurate on his diagnosis, and walks the parents through the whole process with kindness and support. There is a lot of "tough love" with the parent and child during this process, but it is all worth it in the end.
My 16 month old has been a patient of Dr Daum's for the past several months. My son's weight has been low and our pediatrician recommended we see a specialist. From our first appointment Dr Daum reassured us that he will help us get our baby on track. He offered advice for his diet with a dose of encouragement. Every follow up visit was a pleasant encounter that I looked forward to. Not only curious to see how much weight he had gained but the reassuring Dr Daum. Not only was his advice spot on - my son has gained steady weight - he was just such a kind man to deal with. I have raved about him to my pediatrician and to all out there that need a kind, super - smart doctor to help your little on thrive. Thank you Dr Daum. We will never forget you!
My daughter has been under Dr Daum's care for the past few months and I am absolutely thrilled with the progress she has made. Dr Daum is extremely knowledgabel in his field & very firm with his treatment plan, which absolutely works. I wish I had found him years ago. I find him to be professional, personable & he truly cares about his patients and their progress. (He gives out his personal cell phone # to his patients to use during treatment. What other doctor does this ?) I have never felt "rushed" at any of our appointments and would absolutely recommend him to others. And I love that the office really keeps to the scheduled appointment times !
Dr Daum was able to figure out our son's problems after 3 or 4 previous doctors could not. All the belly aches, all the crying and refusal to go. Dr Daum guided us on a program which worked in about 4-5 days. We still call him whenever we need to check in and make adjustments. But no more diapers, no more pull-ups ever again. Life changing!
This doctor may have been top at one point in his career. He is arrogant, insulting, unprofessional, and rude. If you ask him any questions the only response you will get is, "Come to my seminar". He did nothing to help diagnose my child's problem. My child was in tears after we left. It was a horrible experience and set us back in treatment a few weeks more. I contacted my pediatrician to let her know what a sordid experience this was. DO NOT GO TO HIM!!!!
After lots of failed attempts to toilet train our 6 year old son, Dr Daum was first and only doctor to have lasting results. We cannot thank him enough.
Overall: liked his approach medically and professionally. He quickly identifies problems and provides a solutions. He has been doing this a long time and it shows. He may not be that warm, but he is that smart!!!!!
I found Dr. Daum to be incredibly knowledgable and experienced. He accurately diagnosed the medical issues my daughter was having and provided reasonable and achievable medical solutions in my opinion. I would not hesitate to refer him to a friend or use him again with my other children.
excellent doctor. very experienced and firm in his convictions and plan of treatment. we went to another pediatric GI who was a disaster. he looks for conservative treatment first before even considering anything more invasive. one of the best doctors in any specialty I have experienced.
Dr. Daumis not the kind of doctor I thought he was. Went to him for the first time and he was unable to answer any qustions I had reguarding my son during my visit. His answer to me was, "Come to my seminar, I will answer all questions and talk more in depth about the situation." Needless to say, it was a waste of my time, and money and as far as my son goes, I am back to square one. I will not bring my son back to him, nor would I reccommend him. When I questioned the seminar, his response was "What is more important, work or your son"? I am very disappointed!!!He is out to make money and does not care about the health of your child!!!
