Dr. Garrett Scott Hyman, MD

I was hit by a car last year - as a pedestrian. I had basic treatment for broken bones plus medication for a resulting DVT (blood clot). After 6 months - I was still struggling with 2 chronic conditions. Then I went to Dr. Hyman. Employing ultra sound - he diagnosed the extent of my injuries. He also referred me to a physical therapist specifying pain reduction therapy; and to a vascular doctor to treat my now post thrombotic syndrome. This resulted in a wellness without pain and untreated conditions. Dr. Hyman identified areas of treatment that went beyond my “just getting by”. This will be important as I age. Additionally, Dr. Hyman, and his staff, are caring and attentive. He will be my "go to" doctor in the future for his expertise of non-invasive treatments of arthritis or injuries. I highly recommend.

Dr. Hyman lacks empathy which is fundamental for effective communication and efficient treatment. He only relies on diagnostic imaging and has no consideration for the patients input regarding their conditions. In my opinion he is a subpar healthcare professional because he diminishes the patient input during office visits and only basis his medical opinions on technology and imaging. During office visit he is always pushed for quicker consultations by his medical assistants, all in all his clinical empathy is dwarfed by his need for efficiency to move on to the next patient. The fact that Dr. Hyman doesn't even follow through on his own medical findings and objective medical opinions, as he communicates them with his patients, I would definitely not recommend him to others. He is blatantly negligent of his patient conditions, he does not properly explain what is wrong and how to proceed forward and does not layout a clear plan for treatment, he regularly during office visits he… sits there dictating/typing into a machine or his computer during the medical appointment, without first talking to the patient about their medical issue and in my case always expected me to continually remind him of my treatment history while under his care. As a result of his negligence, after being under his medical care for years, now that I have moved my treatment over to another medical professional at another medical facility, I have now finally been diagnosed with conditions that way the underlying reason for my pain and am now being treated for problems and my pain which I had regularly been reporting to Dr. Hyman, which he chose to ignore as he could not diagnose them due to an obvious lack of knowledge in his area of medical expertise as a Physiatrist. The above coupled with the fact that his office manager Laura Cassidy is very rude, yells at the office staff and even patients in the reception area. Consider this review a fair warning from a patient, do not be fooled by the good reviews and what looks like a professional outlook of this facility. Stay away from Dr. Garrett Hyman and find yourself a better physician.

Very arrogant Doctor- no empathy for his customer and give them lecture- I was very upset when living the office. after getting the MRI result in less than 24 hours from CDI, my possible next consultation on the result possible 30 days later. No call possible- but they put me on the waiting list - they call me 3 time and by the time we were confirming the open spot available, they were telling me that somebody else took the appointment. Very unprofessional student Staff with no experience.

Dr. Hyman is an exceptional doctor. I have been seeing him for approximately 2 years for shoulder issues. He is very thorough in making his diagnosis and uses up to date techniques in offering treatment. I have required cortisone shots, and his ultrasound guided placement of the steroid has resulted in being pain free! I have not had the same effect from other treatment providers who do not use ultrasound. His office staff are also very welcoming and organized. I highly recommend!

After having a bad experience at another facility, I was referred to Dr. Hyman by a friend...and now she's my best friend!! I fell in love with Dr. Hyman's personality and his straight forward way of presenting the information I needed to hear. He's so friendly, I felt like family! But most importantly, he is extremely knowledgeable and gives you options that are medically sound. (Wish he took Medicare....just as I went on, he chose to go off....understandable!) So, the dilemma is.....do I look for another doc who takes my insurance or stay with one I really trust and like? For now, I'll pay out of pocket!

Dr. Hyman is awesome! Best Orthopedic ever!

I saw Dr. Hyman for trigger point acupuncture therapy. I'd never heard of this treatment before seeking out Dr. Hyman for help with my back and shoulder injury. Once I started my treatments, my recovery and rehabilitation went on a fast track. There was even one instance where Dr. Hyman treated me and relieved my symptoms within 24 hours of treatment. This was an excellent experience for me, because I have an active lifestyle and wanted to recover as quickly as possible. Dr. Hyman and his staff are truly excellent.

After suffering a nagging backache for years, I finally visited Dr. Hyman. He quickly diagnosed the source of my problem and referred me to a physical therapist and a chiropractor, both of whom were excellent. In little more than a month I was largely pain free. I very much appreciated Dr. Hyman's quick diagnosis and his willingness to send me to professionals who could treat my problem most efficiently and inexpensively.
