Dr. Gennifer Joy Greebel, MD

Rude and mean, equally to children and adults. I've never encountered a doctor with this bad of a bed side manner. I'm not sure how she is allowed to work with children or people of any age. I have no doubt that she is qualified as a doctor (which she'll be the first to tell you about) but every other visit is painful to go through. We've stayed with her for a few years since she has been treating our son since he was a baby. We almost left a year ago, but stayed due to a sob story she gave us about receiving bad reviews (about being rude). Today was the last straw. During the eye exam of my 4 year old she was getting frustrated with my son answering that things were too small and couldn't see them on the eye chart. She turned to my wife, and said in a condescending and rude fashion, and asked if he was feeling ok, which he was but imagine things were hard to see. She gave out a big sigh and huffed and puffed out of the room to "give him a minute." She came back and tried… again and due to her impatient and mean behavior my son was less responsive to her commands. She stood up and said You'll have to come back when he's less cranky in 6 weeks and you really have to come earlier like at 9 when we first open. My wife responded that we had an appointment a few weeks ago at 9 but she cancelled. Before storming out, she also commented that a pair of glasses were all wrong for my son and didn't fit him properly. These were the same prescription lens that my son has had and seen her with for two other visits, but she didn't mention at those visits. Dr. Gennifer Greebel has no business being a doctor to children or being around children period. I wish we had not been lazy or sympathetic a year ago. My 4 year old even commented that he doesn't like it here, as we were leaving.

Dr. Greebel used a soft touch while she reassured my frightened child that her eye would be better. She is so caring and patient. We are lucky to have such a wonderful doctor in our community. She is extremely skilled and knowledgeable and my daughter was very lucky to be her patient.

She is so bright, diligent, conscientious, funny, smart. She never gave up on our daughter’s vision issues and because of that created a custom plan to help her develop. Consulted with peers and industry experts to craft the best course of action. We have been with her since our daughter was 2 months old, she is now 5 yo. Her surgery skills are amazing, as is the team she selects at the hospital. Everything about her and this practice makes us happy. So much so, that our daughter invited her to our home for a “playdate”. I have never engaged with a medical professional that my children are eager to go visit.

Dr. Greebel was rude and pretentious. Her hubristic character was disturbing. She was very demanding about having her do a refraction on my children. Initially, she threw the consent to refraction paper on my lap and said she couldn't examine the children without me signing the refraction consent. I told her I would be having my optometrist do the refraction to which she had a temper and spoke in a condescending manner. She argued with me in front of my children which was inappropriate. She said she doesn't trust optometrists and they are not medical doctors and continued to talk about her years of medical schooling and fellowship credentials and belittle optometrists. She said optometrists have misdiagnosed children and an optometrist wouldn't do what is best for my child. Mind you, I have several doctors and optometrists in my family and circle of friends so this was a bit offensive. None of them have ever spoken with the pompous that she did. This was my worst experience at an… ophthalmology clinic. After putting the dilation drops in my children, she said it would be a 45 minute wait. We ended up waiting 1 hour and 15 minutes. When we went back into the room, she again asked to do the refraction and when I again said I'd have my optometrist do it, she became angry. She even rolled her eyes and pouted when I asked a question about having another drop put in my sons eyes to check for pressure. When we were leaving, she told my children the only thing they could do today is watch TV since the dilation hasn't worn off. Who says that? My children felt bad and asked why the doctor was being "mean and bragging." I felt sad I even brought them into that clinic. They are used to nice and friendly doctors. I've been to other ophthalmology clinics with Harvard and Yale educated ophthalmologists who had a lot more class. Although, she could have done the refraction, I didn't appreciate her demeanor. I'll be seeing my ophthalmologist (Harvard medical degree) who has triple the years of experience to do the refraction on my children. I only checked her out since she specialized in pediatrics. Not going back, obviously. Personality counts also.

Dr. Greebel is a wonderful caring, smart pediatric ophthalmologist. She has lots of patience and always cares about her young patients. My fidgety 4 year old son left her office happy and at ease. Fortunately, Dr. Greebel has time to maintain a convenient practice in Purchase while on staff at Columbia Presbyterian in NYC.

This is an outstanding doctor. She really has a great attitude and is obviously became a doctor because she likes helping people. My son loves her and I feel completely at ease with her.

Dr.Greebel is a doctor that I recommend every where I go. She's very clever, right on target with a diagnosis.She get to know her patients,very loving with the kids. Wonderful surgeon my daughter had surgery with her and she followed every single moment my daughter complaint of something.Most important my daughter love her and I love her professionalism .

I would certainly recommend her. There was no wait, and Dr. Greebel spent a great deal of time with my two boys who both loved her.

Dr. Greebel is an asset to the practice of Pediatric Ophthalmology. She is very professional and thorough. She is willing to spend extra time in order to help her young patients and is very caring. I highly recommend her.
