Dr. Gerardo William Hizon, MD

I have been a patient of Dr. Hizon for years. I can't address enough how happy I to have him as my physician. Always makes sure he gets to the bottom to find out what wrong with me. I Cannot thank him and his team enough for all they have done to help me with my medical issues.

Dr Hizon is the worst doctor my family and I have ever had. He's been our Primary for a couple of years. We never go to the doctor, so it wasn't until I had a major issue that I realized his incompetence. I was dealing what seems like a ready to retire doctor who's simply showing up and going through the motions. He couldn't care less about me. I was in excruciating pain, pain I've never felt before with a herniated disc in my back and sciatic that flared up to a 1000%. Being a "Sports Medicine" doctor, he should know how to handle this. I was literally stuck on the floor for 5 straight days. I had to scoot across my floor to go to the bathroom. I was not sleeping more than 2 hours a night! After the 6th day on the floor I knew I had to try to walk so I had to borrow a neighbors walker. He did give me pain medication, but the low dose didn't work. To make a long story short. After trying to reach him to explain, I needed something different, he and his staff treated me as though I… was an opioid junky looking for pills. No matter what I tired, he wouldn't change my medication to help me. I had to go to urgent care to get a change in my other medications to help them work with the Norco he gave me. He demanded I get blood-work done and then never even called me with the results. I had to request an MRI, which took an additional week and a half of agony to not only get an appointment but to then get the results. I, again had to call down to the imaging place to ask about my results. They were not only done but had been sent to him the day before. It wasn't until I requested that he read them and get back to me that he responded with, "You have a herniated disc. I'll refer you to Physical Therapy and then an orthopedic surgeon." THAT WAS IT! My 3mm aren't even surgery worthy. Not at any time did he try to help me, in any other way. He would only say "I'm sorry you're in pain". After speaking with friends, I heard about other non-narcotic Pain options. I asked him about these options and his response (Via message I waited all day to get back) said "That's not appropriate." Yes, that is it. Nothing else. I (AGAIN) had to request a pain management doctor. Which he provided the referral. The final straw was when I requested another refill of my pain meds. 20 pills taken every 4 hours as needed. Remember they don't really work for me, so I had to take another every 4 hours. He gladly refilled them but told me he was going to also prescribe a Nasal Spray in case I OVERDOSED!!! I was extremely angry and offended and let him know. I never called him again and planned to find a new doc. ASAP. Few days later, I get a letter in the mail from Dr. Hizon, FIRING me as a patient for "failure to cooperate with the medical care plans" Plans I was NOT aware of unless it was to leave me in massive amounts of pain without any direction. I continue to be in complete shock! It is now 5 weeks in. I am still in pain and just now stopped using the walker I borrowed. I can only walk and stand for a few minutes at time. My Pain management doctor heard me and is helping me with non-narcotic options. DO NOT USE THIS GUY.

I love that he thinks outside the box and tried to get people to see how the can prevent/heal things holistically ??

Dr Hizon saved my life 2 X'x last year 2016, with his attention to details. He had time to examine me completely. I had two major surgeries. Then later this year 2017, he referred me to the best in orthopedics for my broken arm surgery.

Dr. Hizon helped me considerably when I had some major health issues and later had pancreatitis. He is very knowledgeable, caring doctor with great bedside manners and good sense of humor. I am thankful for his help.

Fabulous md. Cares about preventative medicine and getting people at a healthy weight so they won't have to be treated for diseases. He is knowledgeable and I finally found a great doc!

Dr. Hizon value me as a patient who he shows care. Very professional. Staff are very courteous. I'll recommend Dr. Hizon to anybody who needs an honest and an excellent Doctor.

A great sports med doc with a great bedside manner. Thoroughly explans things in a way the average person can understand. Both my daughters have seen him for different sports injuries an he was fantastic! Thank you Dr Hizon!!!

I am very athletically active, and have had a few physical mishaps in the 6 years that I have lived in the Temecula Valley. Dr Hizon and his team never turn you away, and are always there to promptly diagnose and consult with me about how to heal my pains. Our family has gone to Dr. Hizon for a number of years now (15). Not only is Dr. Hizon the epitomy of excellence in his daily medical practice at Ouch but also as a member of the community. Descriptive adjectives I would use to describe Dr. Hizon: caring, competant, professional, knowledgeable, friendly.
