Dr. Gertrude Yingyu Li, MD

Rude, unprofessional, clearly irritated about having to do her job. Constantly referring out to someone else and blaming other professionals for her inability to know what the answer is or what to do. Definitely will not go back and she clearly didn't care to lose a patient.

She constantly rushes and has a rude attitude. I expect more from surgeons in the ped clinics.

I am at loss of words to describe the unprofessional & unethical attitude of Dr. Ying Li towards a patient who was in pain ( due to suspected ankle fracture). My son had an accident at school 5 days back, we took him to urgent care and the the scan revealed minor fracture. We got the appointment with Dr. Ying Li today at 9:30 am. My son had a slight temperature last night, which we mentioned at the reception when we came to the hospital today morning. However on hearing this, Dr Li refused to look at my son. This is my first experience in life where I am seeing a doctor refusing to have a look at the patient and that too when the patient is in pain. What is Dr.Li fearing about? If this is about corona virus, the least Dr. Li could have done is to inquire if my son or my family made visits outside of US in the past few weeks or months before drawing any conclusions and refusing to treat my son. We are in shock to see such kind of treatment from a Doctor. If the doctor start making… judgements based on simple fever, then patients should be wary of approaching Dr. Li in first place given that the source of the virus is from a certain region.Luckily we got an appointment with another doctor tomorrow.

We took our daughter to see dr li for a second open on our daughters repaired broken femur, no only did she tell us exactly what the previous surgeon did wrong but she told us that she could fix it. Leaving her office we had zero concerns with her doing her next. They say of the surgery dr li spent a hour with us telling us exactly what she was gonna do to fix the problem! Not only did she check she double checked and tripled check her rotation of her leg! Coming out of surgery she was the first to talk to us and told us that her leg was correct!! I recommend dr li to anyone! She was very professional and made not only us but our daughter comfortable also. Thanks to her and her staff our daughters leg is correct and she back on the road to recovery.

My son had a hairline break near the tip of his thumb. 7 months after his initial visit, and the bills we paid ($731.00), for the visits to the facility I received another bill. Dr. Li billed $230.00 for an office visit, and $601.00 to look at my sons thumb, after we were recommended to Dr. Li by my sons pediatrician. That $601.00 is almost double what the "hospital fee" was, even though it wasn't a hospital. Ultimately, for a 4 week thumb cast, it was out of pocket cost of nearly $1000.00, not including the cost of my insurance. I can't imagine what this doctor charges for anything serious. And you want to know why insurance companies are refusing to pay... a two second peek, bust $831.00. I pray I am never in a situation where I need to re-visit...

Dr. Li was the surgeon we saw for a second opinion for my daughter's severe scoliosis. Dr. Li and her TEAM of fellows, residents and medical students were very thorough with my daughter. She has had the BEST care--from the first appointment to today's 6 week post-operative appointment. I would recommend her without reservation.

My daughter had Spinal Fusion for severe Scoliosis with her and I have to say the care is very rushed and poor! She said she sees over 50-60 patients a day. She does not have good bedside manner. My daughter has been in daily severe Periscapular Shoulder Blade pain every since surgery. She can no longer attend regular school due to the horrible pain!!! She did an X ray and says well her hardware is in place and fusion was a success. She said it was Bursitis and after an MRI (outside of U of M) we discovered she has a Pinched Long Thoracic Nerve and Tendenosis. However, Dr Li says their U of M radiologist says MRI is normal. She refuses to call me and I can only reach her nurse. She has since referred us to Physical Medicine to manage the pain because her job is done. I would not recommend Dr LI for care of your loved one!

I was not impressed with this dr at all. My daughter had an injury from a fall. Her bedside manner is as if she was bothered to be there. She only did a quick exam. Made some observations and seemed to be in and out within 10 minutes. The appt. took longer from the two other times we had to repeat the story to the students who were shadowing her. She seemed to be very uninterested. She also left us hanging with no real path to pursue. Then we were dumped on pediatric pain management, followed by rheumatology and sports medicine docs. Noone even thought to take an xray of a fall victim's back. Frustrated with her uncaring attitude. We wasted our time going to see her. We will never go back there.

My physician at Michigan set me up with this doctor to talk about my scoliosis and treatment options. This was the second orthopedist I've seen at Michigan (the first retired). She was pretty careless and not the most pleasant. When she told me my condition wouldn't change anymore, I told her that the previous doctor had said the same thing when it had gotten worse and she said "well I wasn't here when that doctor was here and I'm not that doctor." Not to mention, of course, the condition got two times worse going against what she said. But, I will give her the benefit of the doubt, because maybe she does well with other conditions that have easier fixes- just not scoliosis.
