"the accounting dept"

The office manager is inconsistent in her written and verbal pt communications and is often "testy" of late. After almost 6 yrs of a happy relationship with both the physician and the ofc mgr, the latter has abruptly refused to bill the pt and instead requests pmt in full at the time of svc. It is not now known if the ofc mgr will even bill your insurer. Initially, it was requested that one pay from your insurer's Explanation of Benefits, which I refused to do and wanted an invoice from the company as well, as had been done in the previous almost 6 yrs. Next it was requested the pt pay in full at the time of svc, if you have a co-pay or have not yet met your deductible. Whether a pt has or has not met their deductible is not their business. In previous yrs, the ofc mgr happily billed the insurer, billed me, and was promptly pd by me. I have no history of not paying and only ever wanted the correct paperwork in a timely manner. Part of the truth is that the ofc mgr has lost control of the operation, specifically the paper trail and the software; additionally, it appears there is an attempt to cut all possible costs, even normal "cost of doing business" expenses, like postage, paper and envelopes. Because we find this particular ofc mgr to be unwilling to operate by the std protocols of billing procedures within the medical community at large, or any other business (would you pay a verbal bill or accept a non-descrip receipt?),we are sadly having to find another physician. Obviously, the physician agreed with the ofc mgr's position. It is unfortunate because we found this dr to be personally and professionally our first choice from the outset and were it not for the ofc mgr and this pmt "policy" change, we wd still be happily visiting him on a regularly scheduled basis. A final note, a request for a prescription that was previously always given me during each visit, was ignored.
