I have a long history with Dr Nicholson and Midwest Ortho in general due to being a collegiate athlete. In early 2015, I reinjured my shoulder and sought of Dr Nicholson once again. Unable to raise my arm, Dr Nicholson evaluated it and told me it was just "inflammation" and send me home with pills and a PT script. After 6 weeks of PT, I made a follow up appointment because I was still in pain. Dr Nicholson said it was just a strength issue and wrote me another script for more PT. After 3 weeks, the pain got worse. I made a 3rd appointment. He was out of town so they scheduled me with his personal assistant. The day of the appointment I sat in the waiting room for over 90 mins and was finally called back and seen by a doctor that I did not make the appointment with. This guy had no idea about any of my previous visits and even yawned in my face when I had to give him a quick summary to catch him up. He told me he couldn't do anything and to wait for Dr Nicholson to return from vacation for further evaluation. Confused and upset, I called Midwest Ortho COO to complain. She apologized about the ordeal and told me she would look into my history and contact me with her findings. That conversation was the last time anyone from Midwest Ortho contacted me. After a year and a half of pain and misery, I sought an opinion from an outside practice. I was diagnosed within their first 10 mins of that appointment and scheduled for surgery later in the month. The damage was far more serious than simple "inflammation" as Dr Nicholson had told me. I had a labral tear, torn biceps tendon, as well as an eroding shoulder socket because the shoulder was unstable for so long. As if matters couldn't get any worse, I have now been banned from even visiting any other doctor at Midwest Ortho because of this. I wrote a very detailed letter explaining this entire ordeal to their CEO, COO, and doctors involved and never received a response. The only response I got was from their HR Department after I tried making an appointment with a separate division stating that because of the letter I wrote I was no longer welcome at Midwest Ortho. They would rather discard and silence their mistakes than acknowledge multiple errors on their part. I will never forget the feeling of helplessness I felt every time I left Dr Nicholson's offices.

Brand New Shoulder
I had a total shoulder replacement surgery on my right shoulder last December. The surgery went fine and I was released the next morning from the hospital. The recovery went just as Dr. Nicholson described and at 3 months from the surgery date I was out playing golf again, my favorite recreational activity. Dr. Nicholson was wonderful throughout this process. He was patient, listened to what you had to say, and spent the time you needed to answer your questions. I now need to have the left shoulder done (arthritis) and as soon as the golf season ends I plan to have Dr. Nicholson do the left shoulder. Excellent surgeon.

I had to have a reconstuructive shoulder surgery on my left shoulder. I am a very active individual and my job requires me to be highly physical. Dr. Nicholson was able to get me back up and running and had my shoulder in great working order. Five months post surgery and I am almost back to my full physical abilities that I was at before my accident and subsequent surgery. I would highly recommend Dr. Nicholson for shoulder work.

Great 'baseball' doctor
He is so knowledgeable about baseball and the mechanics of my son's throwing arm. He really wanted to work with us to get my son back to playing. He was very realistic about the importance of rest. Great attitude, demeanor and information.

Poor Staffing
Waited an hour and half, new patient.Got there early told to take a seat, had to finally go ask for paperworkto fill out. Then waited half hour past myappointment and then left when told there was another one a head of me. Two patients went in ahead of me who got there after me.Would have had to have xrays, while didn't they do that.Doctors want to be paid how can we pay them if we don't work because of their not keeping appointment.

Dr. Nicholson barely showed any interest in my case or explaining it to me while I was still confused about my diagnosis. I talked to him all but five minutes before he put me into surgery. His allegations that the surgery would fix the problem was filled with overexaggeration and lies. It's been six months now and I still feel as worse as I did before. I've tried to express my frustrations as a patient and he basically walked out on me several times while I was talking to him. It seems to me that Nicholson cares more about monetary rewards and high profile clients then he does about the health of a patient. If your not in the MLB or NBA do not go here because you will not be given the care you need.
